Chapter 774: Chapter 762: Attracting Romance (2)
Just then, a maid happened to bring over some clothes.
Archie Lockwood took the clothes and went straight upstairs without sparing Shannon Vance a glance.
Shannon Vance watched Archie Lockwood carry the clothes upstairs, so furious that she bit down hard on her lip. It was a long moment before she finally relaxed.
She looked down at Shirley Lockwood and asked in a low, slightly angry voice, "Rory, tell Auntie, is that Miss Bishop pretty?"
"Gorgeous!" Shirley Lockwood blurted out without a second thought.
At her words, the color drained from Shannon Vance’s face. She clenched her fists and asked again, "Then, Rory, between me and that Miss Bishop... who’s prettier?"
"Hmm... Well, about that..." Shirley Lockwood stroked her chin, tilting her head and putting on a troubled expression as she looked at Shannon Vance.
Seeing Shirley Lockwood’s troubled expression, Shannon Vance’s heart sank.
But just as she was losing hope, Shirley Lockwood said, "To be honest, I don’t think you two can be compared!"
’Not even a comparison????’
’Just how beautiful is that Miss Bishop, then? For me to not even be comparable...’
"Don’t be like that, Miss Shannon. You two just have completely different auras. You’re not the same type of person at all, so there’s really no comparison."
"Oh? What do you mean by that?" Hearing this, Shannon Vance’s interest was piqued, and her spirits lifted.
Thinking back on everything that had happened since she met the pretty lady, Shirley Lockwood said seriously, "The pretty lady looks so delicate and frail—you can tell she’s a pampered heiress who’s never had to lift a finger. But you, Miss Shannon, you’re obviously a strong, capable woman. That’s why there’s no comparison between you two!"
’Delicate and frail?’ she thought. ’It seems all men prefer delicate, frail women. I thought Archie would be different, but to think he likes that type of woman too...’
Sensing Shannon Vance was taking the bait, Shirley Lockwood’s eyes darted around. She put on another pensive frown and said, "Yeah, super delicate. My dad even has to carry the pretty lady, and he hand-feeds her during meals. He’s a hundred times nicer to her than he is to me."
"He carries her? And feeds her? Your dad is treating her like a queen, then?" In her experience, Archie Lockwood had always been a cold, inflexible man.
No matter how much effort and affection she had poured into him, Archie Lockwood wouldn’t even crack a smile for her. Yet now, he was carrying another woman and even feeding her.
"Miss Shannon, to be honest, I think you’re a much better match for my dad. I can’t stand seeing another woman clinging to him like that. It’s like he’s gained a second daughter." ’And if I use this chance to get rid of the two women pestering my dad,’ she mused, ’that would be pretty great...’
Shannon Vance clenched her fists and scoffed, "Hah, you’re right. That woman isn’t worthy of your father at all. How could he stoop so low for a woman like that?"
"So, Miss Shannon, what are you going to do?" Shirley Lockwood asked with a smile, sweetly linking her arm with Shannon Vance’s.
Hearing this, Shannon Vance reached out and affectionately ruffled Shirley Lockwood’s hair. "Rory, as long as you’re on my side, I’m sure your dad won’t marry a stepmom you don’t like."
"That might be true, but what if it’s true love? Love conquers all, you know! What if my dad is really in love with the pretty lady?" ’Even though Dad gave me his word, I’m still a little uneasy...’
