Chapter 792: Chapter 780: The Little Detective (10)

Eleanor Bishop retorted angrily, "You’re mistaken. I don’t have that much free time, nor am I that childish."

’Tattle on you? I’d have to be bored out of my mind to go running to Archie Lockwood! Besides, even if I did, there’s no telling whose side he would take. And I certainly don’t think he’d be kind enough to stand with me.’

"Then why are you on the phone?" ’Not that bored or childish, huh?’

’As far as she was concerned, this delicate-looking woman was just that—bored and childish!’

"I’m just calling my dad to come pick me up," Eleanor Bishop said, snatching her phone back.

"Hah. Calling your dad?" ’Who does she think she’s kidding...’

Seeing that Shannon Vance didn’t believe her, Eleanor Bishop gave a self-mocking laugh. "Miss Vance, you just said it yourself, didn’t you? That you and Archie Lockwood are about to get married. So, it wouldn’t be appropriate for me to keep staying here."

"I did say that, yes. But you’re leaving voluntarily? Are you really that considerate?" ’She didn’t believe for a second this woman would leave so willingly...’

"Miss Vance, I never wanted to stay here in the first place. And I’m not suited for a place like this. Perhaps it’s just my fate to clash with the Lockwoods. We’re just incompatible." With that, Eleanor unlocked her phone and called her father again.

Shannon Vance watched Eleanor Bishop dubiously. It was only when she heard Eleanor say the word "Dad" that the frown on her face began to slowly ease.

Once Eleanor Bishop hung up, the cold look on Shannon Vance’s face was replaced with a friendly smile. "Miss Bishop, after you get back home, if you need anything at all, you can come to me for help. I’m serious. I really can find the best doctors to treat your leg." ’As long as the woman wasn’t after her man, she could afford not to target her.’

"Miss Vance, I appreciate the offer, but I truly don’t need it. As I said, it seems I’m just fated to clash with the Lockwood family, and I meant it. Since you’re marrying Archie Lockwood, that makes you practically a Lockwood yourself. So, I will do my best to stay far away from you, and I will never accept any help from you."

"..." At her words, the smile on Shannon Vance’s face slowly faded, and a complex look entered her eyes.

’Fated to clash with the Lockwoods?’

’Judging by the look on her face, it didn’t seem like she was lying...’

’What on earth was going on?’

The person Harold Bishop sent arrived quickly, getting there in less than twenty minutes.

The drive from the Bishop family’s home to the Lockwood family’s home takes at least forty minutes, so Eleanor was a little puzzled to see the driver, a man named Chen, arrive.

Chen carried Eleanor on his back down the stairs and out of the Lockwood residence.

It wasn’t until they passed through the gates of the Lockwood estate that Eleanor finally breathed a sigh of relief. She looked as if all her energy had been drained, her face pale as she leaned weakly against Chen’s back.

"Miss, are you alright?"

"I’m fine," Eleanor replied with a faint, bitter smile.

「Back in the Lockwood residence, in the living room.」

Shannon Vance sat nervously on the sofa.

Although she had managed to drive Eleanor Bishop away, she was still a little afraid that Archie Lockwood would be angry when he came back.

After all, she wasn’t actually his girlfriend, let alone his fiancée.

’Just who was that Eleanor Bishop? Who could be so important that he had to keep her in his own home?’

As she thought about it, Shannon Vance found it impossible to just sit there doing nothing while she waited for Archie Lockwood to return...

She pulled out her phone and immediately made a call to have someone investigate Eleanor Bishop’s background.
