Chapter 793: Chapter 781: The Little Detective (11)

「IS Company」

Inside the CEO’s office.

Archie Lockwood was flipping through documents while also browsing the internet.

Although he knew he shouldn’t be multitasking, he simply couldn’t bring himself to focus solely on work today.

So, while he was supposed to be reviewing documents, he was actually looking up useless articles on how to make a woman fall in love with you again...

Last night, when he had kissed that woman, she had struggled against him desperately. In the end, she’d even bitten his lip until it bled...

This was the first time something like this had ever happened!

That woman had never resisted him like that before. He didn’t like the overly obedient Eleanor Bishop, but he didn’t like this prickly version of her either—the one who bristled at his slightest touch.

’A woman should be obedient when it’s called for and put up a little resistance when it’s not.’

Thinking of that woman’s hateful gaze, he felt a deep unease. A heavy feeling settled in his chest...

Just then, a sudden knock echoed from the office door.

Startled by the sound, Archie Lockwood quickly closed the web page, composed himself, and lowered his gaze to the documents on his desk.

The visitor was Louise Jordan. When she didn’t hear her boss respond, she walked straight in, holding a folder. Reaching his desk, she placed the documents on it.

Archie Lockwood glanced up briefly at Louise Jordan, took the file she had placed on the desk, and picked up a ballpoint pen. He casually flipped through a couple of pages before signing his name on the last one. Then, he handed the folder back to Louise and lowered his head again, pretending to be engrossed in his work.

He hadn’t said a single word throughout the entire exchange.

Louise Jordan held the folder and stood rooted to the spot, looking at Archie Lockwood with a complicated expression, unsure if she should speak.

Archie appeared calm, but inwardly he was anxious. He had closed the webpage before he could finish reading it, so he just wanted Louise to leave quickly.

After waiting for what felt like three or four minutes, with Louise still not leaving, Archie lost his patience. He frowned and looked up in annoyance. "Why are you still here?"

"Boss, there’s a problem with this proposal." Bracing herself, Louise placed the folder back on Archie Lockwood’s desk.

Hearing this, Archie’s expression instantly darkened. "A problem?" ’It has a problem? And she still had me sign it?’

"Boss, this is the proposal that was rejected before. Didn’t you say there were issues with it and asked me to submit it for your review?" Louise lowered her head slightly, not daring to meet Archie Lockwood’s eyes as she spoke in a small voice.

At Louise’s words, Archie finally recalled that this was indeed the case. With a grim face, he picked up the folder and flipped through it quickly. When he saw his own signature on the final page, his handsome face grew darker and darker...

"Boss, there’s one more thing..." Seeing the extremely foul look on her boss’s handsome face, Louise quietly clenched her hands at her sides and spoke again in a low voice.

Hearing her, Archie looked up and snapped irritably, "What is it now?" ’What have I done wrong this time?’

"Boss, you received a call from home."

Archie put the folder down on the desk. "From home? Did something happen?"

"Yes, the call from home said... they said..."

"Said what!"

"The call from home said that... Miss Bishop has left."

"Left?" Upon hearing this, Archie slammed his hand on the desk and shot to his feet.
