Done Breeding: Now I Rule the Beastworld
Chapter 277: Feelings Are Mutual
“Alright, that’s all for now. Just contact me directly if anything comes up.”
After Elder Yu left, Chu Liangyu found herself with some free time. After a moment’s thought, she decided on a whim to take a look at the miniature of the Beast World.
This time, she didn’t teleport, but instead began to walk around as if on a stroll.
Along the way, she saw many miniatures of Little Worlds. They all emitted different auras, yet each one beckoned passersby to explore them.
Of course, Guardians couldn’t enter without permission, so when Chu Liangyu came across one that interested her, she would only stop and watch.
One planet in particular was exceptionally different. It was half white and half black, intertwined like a taiji symbol, and it radiated a peculiar aura.
“This is…”
Chu Liangyu stopped in her tracks. Driven by curiosity, she moved a little closer to observe it.
“What are you doing?”
A sudden voice made Chu Liangyu jump. After steadying herself, she finally looked up at the newcomer.
“Oh, it’s you.”
It was Yu, the one who was with Lai San, the Guardian who had caused trouble in the Cultivation World.
“Is this… the world you guard?”
“Yes.”
The two of them had secretly sent their souls into the Beast World. It didn’t take a genius to know they were up to no good.
No matter how curious Chu Liangyu was, she wasn’t going to get involved with people like them.
Thus, she said nothing more and turned to leave without any warning.
However, even after walking for a long time, she could still feel his gaze fixed on her back.
Chu Liangyu frowned in discomfort and used the space’s teleportation function to escape his stare.
“Yu, what are you looking at?”
Just as Chu Liangyu left, Lai San appeared at Yu’s side, following his gaze forward.
“The Guardian of the Beast World.”
Lai San’s expression stiffened for a moment, and he seemed somewhat indignant. “Hmph, that woman is just too lucky. Otherwise, I would have sorted out that business in the Cultivation World long ago.”
“Enough. Who told you not to use your brain? It serves you right that you couldn’t get your revenge.”
“How can you say that to me? Are you even my brother anymore…?”
Lai San’s eyes reddened as he stared wide-eyed with dissatisfaction.
Although the two of them guarded a Little World together, their personalities were worlds apart.
Rather than calling Yu his brother, it was more like he was his father, constantly worrying about a little brat like Lai San.
“Stop crying. If you attract that old man’s attention, you’ll just get another beating.”
The “old man” they were referring to was Elder Yu. After Chu Liangyu completed her mission last time, the Heavenly Dao had informed the Guardians of the whole story.
In a fit of anger, Elder Yu had given Lai San another beating. Unlike the last time, this one had nearly cost Lai San his life.
The memory of the painful beating made Lai San fall silent immediately, and he stopped crying.
“By the way, have you thought about which world to look for next?”
“I have. You don’t need to worry about it.”
A flicker of sorrow passed through Lai San’s eyes, but it was overshadowed by reluctance. “Even though our Little World is about to be destroyed, I… I still don’t really want to leave.”
“Don’t say such foolish things in the future.”
Yu’s expression was stern. After this brief lecture, he turned and left in a different direction.
—-
After returning to the Xihe Tribe, Chu Liangyu went straight to her courtyard. By coincidence, Lou Sang’s knock on the door followed shortly after.
“Finished inspecting the Barrier already?”
Chu Liangyu’s face was full of surprise. She clearly hadn’t expected him to return so quickly.
Lou Sang nodded confidently. “Of course. I guarantee there are no problems this time.”
Chu Liangyu’s puppets hadn’t finished their work yet, but their daily reports confirmed that there were indeed no issues.
Still, she had no intention of recalling the puppets just based on his word. After all, an extra check meant extra security.
“And who’s this with you?” Lou Sang stared for a moment before figuring it out. “You really know how to live, making a puppet for yourself to take care of your daily needs.”
Chu Liangyu was eating fruit and was in a fairly good mood, so she didn’t mind his slightly sour tone.
“You’re just in time. I have something to tell you.”
Seeing how happily she was eating, Lou Sang couldn’t resist reaching for the fruit platter as well. “What is it? Go ahead and tell me, I’m listening.”
“Today, I took the Snake Demon back to the Cultivation World. Elder Yu introduced me to several Guardians who all want my help. Their payment is the Origin Pearl.”
The puppet had a stubborn streak. Seeing a stranger reach for the fruit, it immediately pulled the platter away. The two of them remained at a stalemate for a while, one dodging and the other grabbing.
In the end, Lou Sang smacked his lips and gave up.
“Well, that’s a good thing. What are you thinking? Did you agree to all of them?”
“I did.”
Chu Liangyu took the fruit platter from the puppet’s hands and placed it on a nearby chair. After motioning for Lou Sang to eat with her eyes, she continued, “It is a good thing, yes, but I don’t have much experience. I’m still a bit unsure about it.”
“What’s there to be unsure about? They’re the ones who came to you. Even if you don’t succeed, they’re the ones who will bear the consequences.”
What Lou Sang said was too one-sided. If her reputation suffered, fewer people would come to her for help in the future.
“You’re right, but…”
“Just go for it. You have me and Old Man Chu to back you up, so don’t be afraid.”
Lou Sang tried a lychee and found it delicious, his eyes lighting up. He then ate several more in a row. Seeing that Chu Liangyu still looked hesitant, he grabbed a handful of lychees and placed them in her hand.
“These lychees are good. Have some more.”
After handing them to her, Lou Sang went back to peeling lychees for himself. “Speaking of which, I actually have something I’d like to ask for your help with.”
“Hm?”
“Didn’t I tell you before? I’m not from the Beast World.” Lou Sang spoke after swallowing the lychee he had in his mouth with a few chews. “I was originally a soul from an interstellar world, but our world was destroyed. I only survived thanks to the protection of our machines, and later, by a stroke of luck, I ended up here.”
“It’s probably because my home world emphasized the cultivation of spiritual power, and I had the highest spiritual power in the interstellar world. That’s why I survived and was chosen as a Guardian here.”
Perhaps because he was revisiting an unpleasant memory, the relaxed look on Lou Sang’s face vanished.
“There should be parallel worlds in this universe that are the same as mine. If you ever come across one, please help me investigate the reason for its destruction. I… I really want to know.”
Chu Liangyu had thought Lou Sang was going to ask her to help save a world and was about to refuse, but she hadn’t expected a request like this.
“There’s no telling if I’ll ever encounter one. But if I do, I’ll help you investigate.”
Given their many years of friendship, she wouldn’t refuse something that was within her power to do.
These kinds of feelings were always mutual. She was willing to go this far for him because Lou Sang treated her the same way.
