Chapter 1034 -255: Eagle Spirit

“No dark aura, what kind of werewolf is this?”

With the Knight’s question, strands of golden radiance reflected in Ivan’s eyes, for a moment his gaze restored some clarity.

The Knight spoke in Latin, which Ivan could understand.

As a former elite Mamluk of the Ayyubid Dynasty, Ivan studied daily Latin and Greek at the Church School in Cairo, though not yet fully fluent, he was better than Fulk, the noble Lord from Languedoc.

Latin is the universal language of Europe and the language of theology, but even many clergy in remote areas can barely speak fluent Latin, able only to recite Latin doctrines during sermons, usually with no audience understanding.

In Europe, if a clergy member loses the documents proving their identity, they can recite a segment of Latin doctrine as identification.

Thus, from the opponent’s language alone, Ivan could discern their identity.

They were the old adversaries of the Mamluks—the Knights of the Knight Order who pledged lifelong vows!

Ivan had clashed with these monastic knights, Jerusalem’s strongest army was this armed monastery, who adhered lifelong to the vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience, far more courageous and battle-ready than secular knights.

But after just a brief exchange, Ivan realized the difference in this monastic Knight with a cross depicted on his coverall, his strength was astonishing, even greater than Ivan’s current strength, and the two-handed greatsword in his hand was surrounded by a layer of frightening golden brilliance.

Under his assault, Ivan quickly fell into a precarious situation.

At the right moment, a loyal follower of Ivan climbed onto the city wall, noticing Ivan in a difficult battle, he crouched his legs, springing high up like a coil, his claws ruthlessly tearing towards the monastery Knight’s back.

“No!”

Ivan couldn’t shout in time to stop, the monastic Knight sidestepped to dodge the blow, the enormous two-handed sword, like the judgment of the gods, split his loyal follower in half from the center.

The great sword, cutting through steel and flesh akin to a hot knife slicing through butter, swung again slanting upwards towards Ivan upon severing the werewolf.

Clang—

Ivan’s claws blocked the rough sword surface, his entire body propelled to the wall by the immense force from the front, he seized the chance, leveraging against the wall, waving a claw to leave four deep marks on the Knight’s chest armor as the sword force exhausted.

One successful strike and retreat.

Ivan, perched atop the tower, his gaze full of apprehension.

This monastic Knight’s armor is too tough! Perhaps weaker than him in strength, yet better equipped and more experienced in combat.

Ivan, though different from ordinary First Army soldiers possessed by wolf spirits, held incomplete werewolf power himself, accidentally undergoing a miraculous chemical reaction with the wolf spirit, greatly amplifying his strength.

However, his utilization of this strength was akin to Hans when he first obtained the Wolf Race bloodline, far too crude.

“Damn it, how can I even fight this battle?”

Ivan roughly scanned the battlefield, unable to help cursing silently.

Originally intended to conserve strength, but now his elite forces were transformed into fearless madmen by that old man’s magic, unable to retreat even if he perceived the unfavorable battle situation.

Watching those loyal followers from Egypt, who followed him to the East, falling one after another, the despair deepened within his heart.

“No, I can’t keep fighting.”

“At this rate, even if we win, Fulk and I would never see that scene again.”

“Where is Fulk?”

Unable to resist searching for Fulk’s figure, this fellow might regain rationality just like him, in which case fleeing with his old partner might be an acceptable result.

…

After thirty Holy Knights joined the battle, the situation became overwhelmingly one-sided.

Each was responsible for a small section of the wall, the werewolves’ seemingly agile speed, sharp claws, and strength surpassing ordinary people were utterly useless against them.

These Holy Knights’ movements were simple and unadorned, wielding seemingly cumbersome two-handed greatswords, yet every strike never missed.

One werewolf after another was beheaded, their refined techniques truly appearing as if they were professional executioners, the werewolves’ formidable life force also proved ineffective.

Though the holy radiance exerted no restraint on the First Army soldiers possessed by wolf spirits, each Holy Knight reached the standards of a Five-Star Attendant and accumulated ample experience from years of combat records and demon hunting tasks, utterly incomparable to these werewolves.

Seeing the First Army falling into a disadvantage, Sutchi finally issued another command.

With the sound of horns ringing, the elite Qesem Army, borrowed from the Great Khan’s personal guards and allocated to Sutchi’s command from the Tatar Army, finally joined the battle.

Beside Kuokuo’s side, the Wusun Shaman couldn’t help but ridicule: “From the looks of it, you lost the first match, seems like your usage of the wolf spirit isn’t praiseworthy.”

“Those iron-armored warriors emitting golden radiance evidently belong to the Extraordinary category, strength, number, all quite formidable, even comparable to the Forbidden Guards in the Jin Kingdom Court protecting the Imperial Family.”

“You aim for ordinary soldiers possessed by wolf spirits to defeat these armored warriors, quite the delusion.”

“Trump cards, revealed one by one, winning temporarily means nothing, only winning until the end counts.”

Kuokuo sneered, being limited to short-term victory, you Wusun child only boast over a “Beiqi” position I disdain to take.

“Watch, this is how eagle spirit is used.”

His eyes glowed with a cyan light, the Tatars revered the four spirits of eagle, wolf, deer, and horse, with eagle spirit ranked foremost.
