Dungeon Miner Slave
DMS Chapter 102
Flinx headed to the dungeon of Mara after separating from Olivia and the others, who were heading toward the shop. He was a little excited as well, since that was the day he would learn if he would stay with the dungeon of Mara for a long time.
The 50th floor of the dungeon of Mara would inform him if the experience points he would earn on that floor would be enough to level up his wizard class, at least for a few months.
Flinx couldn’t wait to level up since he would have access to level 8 spells once he reached level 8. His transmigration system was extremely peculiar. It was supposed to be based on the most famous tabletop role-playing game. Even the website where Earthlings could purchase spells was based on the legendary game, but the rules were extremely different.
Based on that tabletop game, a wizard would only be able to access the level 9 spells once they reached around character level 17, but his system was different. The level of his characters corresponds to the level of the spells that he would have access to, so once he reached level 9, he would have access to extremely powerful level 9 spells.
The only advantage of having more levels past level 9 was having more power, meaning his spells would become more powerful. Some peculiar limits could only be bypassed by levels as well. One example was his ability to Plane Shift to another planet or dimension. To be able to Plane Shift to the plane where the wizard enslavers were located, he had to be level 15. To be able to return to Earth, he would have to be level 20. More than likely, there would be more, but he hadn’t encountered any of them yet.
To Flinx, the Earthlings' transmigration gift looked like a badly coded MMORPG game that was loosely based on that tabletop game. Only the name and the function of the spells were the same. Examples of how different his system was from that tabletop game were, one, there were no “concentration” spells. Every spell could be cast immediately. Two, there was no need for verbal, somatic, or material components required for casting spells. Three, the spell cooldown duration rules were very simple. Four, the spell level was equal to the class level. Five, Flinx hadn’t seen any rituals. There were probably hundreds more that he wasn’t aware of yet.
Flinx suddenly wondered what system the wizards or any of the magic casters of this world had. Was it the same with the Earthlings’ system, or was it the same with that famous fantasy role-playing tabletop game, but was following its rules to the letter? Or was it a totally different magic system?
Still, Flinx preferred his system compared to the actual fantasy role-playing tabletop game. His system was easier, and it was making him powerful extremely fast, at least compared to if his magic system was exactly the same as that game.
When Flinx reviewed the different spells that he would have access to once he reached level 9, even he felt a little afraid. Some of those spells were reality-breaking spells. He thought that the wizard enslavers were correct in their assumptions that if they let the Earthlings have access to their system, those damned wizards would be destroyed.
In Flinx’s opinion, those wizard enslavers’ days were numbered simply because of him. He had vowed that he wouldn’t stop until those wizard enslavers were all destroyed. He would hunt them all until all of their bloodline was dead, and there was no hope for revival.
Flinx was getting agitated, so he calmed himself. He was inside a carriage headed towards the dungeon of Mara. Once he arrived there, he didn’t tarry anymore and tried to pay for the key on the 50th floor.
The guild staff was taken aback and advised him that it would be better for him to join a party.
“I don’t need a party. This dungeon is only a gold-level dungeon, and I’m a diamond rank wizard. I’m fully capable of clearing this dungeon.”
Flinx didn’t want to explain anymore, and thankfully, the guild staff didn’t try to persuade him again and simply gave him the key. He knew thought that the information that he entered on the 50th floor of the Dungeon of Mara would spread, and he might receive a visit from Semanor.
Once he entered the 50th floor, he saw that the information book he received from the guild was correct. The last floor of the Dungeon of Mara was a labyrinth. It was one of the few pieces of information the book had regarding the floor. The only other information was that monsters on the labyrinth floor were extremely varied. One could find groups of desert monsters, jungle monsters, swamp monsters, forest monsters, undead monsters, and more.
Even though it looked like a labyrinth, the floor, just like any of the floors in the dungeon of Mara, was still straightforward. One just needed to move forward until one reached the “boss” monster at the end.
The floor was also bright enough that there was no need for any other source of light. Flinx cast three 5th-level Conjure Elemental spells slotted on the 7th-level spell slot to make sure that they would be the most powerful elementals he could summon at his level. He then bound them using the 5th-level Planar Binding spell so that their duration would increase. He still chose to have one earth elemental, one wind elemental, and one water elemental.
Flinx then cast several of his defensive spells, like the 1st-level Mage Armor spell, the 1st-level Absorb Elements spell, the 1st-level False Life spell, and the 3rd-level Stoneskin spell. He also cast the Fly spells, since he planned to fly while traversing the floor.
After he was done with his preparation, he first sent his wind elemental ahead to scout for him, then he moved forward behind his stone elemental and water elemental.
The first set of enemies that the wind elemental encountered were 12 kobolds. Half of the kobolds rode on top of Dire Wolves and wielded powerful weapons like spears and swords. The other half were long-range kobolds like archers and mages.
The 12 kobold monsters behaved like they were humans camping outside. Some of the kobolds were near a bonfire, warming themselves, and some were cooking something. A few of them were patrolling the surrounding camp. Based on the monsters’ behavior, they were more intelligent than the dungeon monsters from other floors.
Flinx cast the 2nd-level Invisibility spell so that the dungeon monsters wouldn’t notice him. When he got near enough that the kobolds were in range of his 1st-level Grease spell, he immediately cast three Grease spells until all of the kobolds were covered by grease. Because of his casting, the Invisibility spell was dispelled, and the kobolds noticed him. Since he was up in the air, the melee warriors stared at him impotently while the archers were having a hard time using their bows due to the grease enveloping him.
Flinx cast the 2nd-level Mirror Image spell so that the kobold mages would be confused about who they could target with their spells.
After that, Flinx didn’t wait any longer and bombarded the area with his 3rd-level Fireball spells. Because of the Grease spell, the effect of the Fireball more than doubled, and the blast that occurred was deafening.
None of the kobolds survived the Fireball blasts. His three elementals didn’t even need to attack. Flinx then commanded his three elementals to gather the mana stones that dropped from the kobold monsters.
