Dungeon Miner Slave
DMS Chapter 103
Flinx didn’t delay any longer after his three elementals gathered the mana stones from the kobolds and continued moving forward. He wanted to move as fast as he could so he would know how many hours he could complete the 50th floor of the Dungeon of Mara.
Of course, Flinx knew that it would take him several delves on the said floor before he would have the accurate timing of how many hours it would take him to complete the floor. He was hoping that once he was used to delving the said floor, he would be able to complete a minimum of two runs on the 50th floor per day. It would be better if he could run it more than twice a day.
The next set of enemies that the wind elemental found were four huge minotaurs. Just like with the kobolds, Flinx decided to attack the four minotaurs first.
While flying up in the sky, he cast the 1st-level Grease spell on the four minotaurs, followed by three casts of his 3rd-level spell Fireball. The fireballs greatly damaged the minotaur, but their vaunted defense had proven true since the four huge cow monsters survived.
Since the grease spell had been consumed by his fireballs, Flinx cast the 2nd-level spell Web to hold the four minotaurs in place. He knew that the Web spell wouldn’t hold the four strong monsters for long, but he only needed a few seconds. He then sent the motes of lights from the Crown of Stars to one of the minotaurs, and the powerful 7th-level spell killed the minotaur.
Flinx then cast the 7th-level Finger of Death to the second Minotaur, and since it was already greatly damaged by Fireballs, the Finger of Death spell caused its demise. Flinx then finished off the remaining two Minotaurs by casting the 6th-level Disintegrate twice. One for each of the huge monsters.
The battle with the four minotaurs didn’t take Flinx more than four minutes. After his elementals gathered the mana stones, Flinx moved on. He found it a little funny that his elementals became his loot gatherer instead of assisting him in fighting the dungeon monsters.
When the wind elemental returned from its scouting ahead, Flinx was surprised when it reported that the next enemy that he would encounter was a lich. The lich apparently had gathered a small army of undead to surround it.
After refreshing his defensive spells, Flinx arranged the spells he planned to use in fighting the lich. He didn’t forget to cast the 7th-level spell Crown of Stars, since with its long duration, it effectively added a second slot to his most powerful spell slot.
Before entering the area where the lich was located, Flinx cast the Invisibility spell. He wanted to remain undetected until he cast his opening salvo of spells.
Once the lich and its army of skeletons were in range, he cast several 1st-level Grease spells until the lich and its army were covered in grease. Then he bombarded the area with several 3rd-level Fireball skills.
As expected, the lich’s skeleton army was decimated by Flinx’s fireballs. The lich managed to protect itself using a shield spell. He didn’t delay any longer and cast the 6th-level Disintegrate spell onto the lich. As expected, the first cast of the Disintegrate spell was blocked by the lich’s shield spell, but the second Disintegrate spell shattered it. After that, Flinx sent all of the motes of light from 7th level Crown of Stars spell toward the lich then he cast the 7th level spell again to send its motes of light again if the lich survived his first cast of the Crown of Stars spell but Flinx saw that he didn’t need to send the motes of light from his second casting of the Crown of Stars because the Lich was destroyed by the motes of light from his first cast of his most powerful spell.
Flinx commanded his elementals to gather all of the mana stones, which took a few minutes since there were a few of them on the ground. After that, he moved on.
After a while, the wind elemental reported something peculiar. A single treasure chest along the road. Flinx sighed and thought about how they could make it so obvious. He commanded his earth elemental to approach the chest, and as expected, it was a mimic. When the mimic attacked the earth elemental, the wind and water elementals joined the earth elemental and pounded the monster until it was in pieces.
The next set of enemies were gargoyles. When the wind elemental reported statues along the road, Flinx knew what they were simply because of the statue’s appearance and his familiarity with dungeon monsters.
Flinx remembered when he was back on earth playing video games, gargoyles were supposed to be immune to damage as long as they were in the statue state. There were 10 of them. 5 on each side of the road.
He tested his theory by targeting one of the gargoyles while he was still invisible. He cast the 6th-level spell Disintegrate onto the nearest gargoyle, and the statue was destroyed. Flinx expected it to reform, but it didn’t. The other 9 gargoyles woke up and flew towards him.
Flinx commanded his three elementals to meet the gargoyles while he flew back. He recast his Invisibility spell, and the statue monsters focused their switch to the three elementals. He thought that when he tested the gargoyles, he should have used an area of effect spell like his Grease and Fireball combo. When all of the gargoyles were fully engaged with his three elementals, Flinx started targeting the statue monsters one by one. He still had two remaining 6th-level Disintegrate spells, so he used them to kill two gargoyles. He then used his active 7th-level Crown of Stars spell to destroy another one, then cast the 7th-level Finger of Death to kill another. His three elementals destroyed the remaining gargoyles.
All in all, Flinx concluded that the 50th floor of the dungeon of Mara’s monster could be defeated by him easily.
He battled with giant spiders, giant trolls, more minotaurs, mimics, some odd-looking gelatinous cubes, some more kobolds, more gargoyles, vampire bats, and some more undead until he finally reached the “boss” monster.
The boss monster was an honest-to-goodness fire dragon. He was a little apprehensive about facing the large fire dragon, but Flinx didn’t wait long. After casting the 2nd-level Invisibility spell, he immediately cast two 6th-level Disintegrate spells.
The two powerful spells greatly damaged the Fire Dragon. Flinx immediately cast the 2nd-level Mirror Image spell to confuse the dragon, then commanded his three elementals to attack the dragon.
The dragon’s roar was incredibly loud, and it targeted one of Flinx’s images using its Fire breath. When his three elementals reached the dragon, they started pummeling it. Unfortunately, the dragon started to fly, and that meant that the only elemental that could reach it was the wind elemental.
Flinx cast all of the motes of light from his active 7th-level Crown of Stars spells into one of the Fire Dragon’s wings to ground it, and it was a success. The dragon, who still hadn’t managed to fly high, was grounded. The elementals started pummeling the dragon, and Flinx joined in the fight by bombarding it with another cast of his 7th-level Crown of Stars spell; this time, he targeted the dragon’s head. When the cooldown of his 6th-level spell slot was over, he cast the Disintegrate spell again, followed by the 7th-level Finger of Death once the 7th-level spell slot cooldown was completed, and that killed the mighty Fire Dragon.
