DMS Chapter 105

Flinx wasn’t able to find anything worth buying from the shops that surrounded the soap and candles shop, so he decided to spend his time drinking coffee in a nearby café. While he was sipping his coffee slowly, since he was in a good mood, he decided to purchase gifts for everyone from his system shopping site.

For David, Arcios, Keero, and Violet, he decided to purchase toys for them. He remembered when he was a kid, what he hated most were gifts from relatives that were supposed to be “useful,” like clothes and school supplies, when he wanted the most to have were toys.

For the three boys, Flinx purchased battery-operated plastic swords and shields that would light up when turned on. He made sure to purchase several sets of batteries that could be recharged using a powerful solar-powered charger, so that the three boys could play with their swords and shield nonstop if they wanted to. The three boys' toys, the batteries, and the solar-powered charger cost him a total of 200 dollars.

For Violet, Flinx found a pink plastic dollhouse with three princess dolls with a bunch of stuff included, like a complete set of furniture for the dollhouse, and several dresses for the dolls. That cost him 150 dollars.

Thankfully, all the things that Flinx would purchase from his system shopping site would go directly to his 4^th tab space and could be retrieved at a later time.

Regarding Christopher, Ambrose, and Olivia, Flinx didn’t want to bother shopping for them, so he decided to just give Olivia the Necklace of Invisibility that she was already using, the Greater Fire Sword to Ambrose, and the Staff of Firebolt to Christopher.

He was satisfied with his shopping, so he continued sipping his coffee. After some time, he heard David’s voice calling him.

“Flinx! Why are you here?!” David shouted, then the boy, followed by his three cohorts, with Ambrose and Christopher looking after them, ran to the table where Flinx was sitting.

“I completed my delve early, so I decided to visit the shop. I didn’t enter since it's full of women. Where have you been?” Flinx asked them.

“Sister asked us to go to the employment agency to look for another salesgirl for the shop. Natalie wouldn’t be able to handle the customers alone,” Christopher said.

“She should be arriving at the shop soon. We gave her some funds to purchase clothing that would fit the shop,” Ambrose added.

“Shouldn’t you have waited for her?”

“She knows where the shop is,” Christopher simply said.

Since he was done with his coffee, and it was getting late, he decided to ask Olivia to close the shop early so they could all go home. Besides, starting the next day, Flinx would be spending longer hours delving into the dungeon.

Once they arrived at Olivia’s shop, they saw Olivia teaching the new salesgirl in assisting some customers while Natalie was assisting other customers on her own by demonstrating the effects of the soap with the loofah on the makeshift sink.

It was only a little after five in the afternoon, but he asked Violet to tell Olivia to close the shop early while they all remained outside.

When Violet reached Olivia and told her Flinx’s message, Olivia looked unwilling. It was understandable since there were still around ten women inside the shop. Still, she followed Flinx’s command and announced the shop was closing for the day. The two new salesgirls looked startled, but Olivia just asked them to clean up and left everything for the shop’s closing to them. Once the two girls were done cleaning and all of the customers had left, they would simply leave and hang up the “Closed” sign by the door. They didn’t even need to lock the door since the shop would be guarded by one of the stone golems.

Flinx and the whole family stopped at a nearby restaurant to eat, since even though it was a little hurtful, everyone thought of the same thing. They didn’t want to eat Christopher’s cooking that night. In all honesty, Christopher’s cooking wasn’t too bad. It was mostly equal to what a regular household would serve, but food from restaurants was better, and since Flinx was in a celebratory mood, he wanted to eat something good.

He supposed he could have served everyone the food that Flinx had cooked while he was traveling with the merchant caravan on the way to Ilioven, but he wanted to preserve it a little so he could eat it while he was delving into dungeon floors.

“Olivia, do you have enough funds to apprentice Christopher to one of the better chefs in Ilioven?” Flinx asked, and everyone was startled.

Christopher looked highly excited, though. Ambrose looked disbelieving. Flinx knew that Christopher’s brother still couldn’t believe that Christopher’s ambition was to be a chef instead of becoming a powerful adventurer like the ambition of most normal boys.

“Yes, we have enough. I’ll go speak with one of the better chefs tomorrow to enroll Christopher,” Olivia replied.

Everyone realized by now that Flinx was a foodie and would prefer to eat good food. That made Christopher’s training to become a better cook their priority. Olivia, her brother, and the four kids subconsciously made Flinx their priority in everything they did. Flinx didn’t know that even their ambition was centered around making Flinx happy. If he had learned of their ambition, he would have told them not to prioritize him, since Flinx, with all the abilities that came from his system, was fully capable of taking care of himself, but he wouldn’t be able to convince them of that.

Olivia, her brothers, and the four kids were extremely grateful to Flinx for providing them with a stable and rich life, even though they had only been a family for less than a week.

Once they arrived home, Flinx announced to everyone that he was happy with his most recent delve because the 50^th floor of the Dungeon of Mara would be able to provide him with what he needed for at least a few months. Because of that, he had a gift for everyone.

Flinx told Olivia that his gift for her would be the Necklace of Invisibility that she was already wearing. That meant that she didn’t need to save coins to pay him for the necklace. For Ambrose, Flinx presented the Greater Fire Sword. He told Olivia’s brother that it came from the 50^th floor of the Dungeon of Mara and that it would add massive fire damage on every hit. For Christopher, he gave the Staff of Firebolt and told Ambrose’s brothers its effect, wherein the Firebolt spell could be cast using the staff 10 times a day.

For David, Arcios, and Keero, Flinx gave them the battery-operated plastic sword and shield that lights up. He then taught them how to replace the batteries with new ones and how to recharge the batteries using the solar charger.

The three boys’ eyes were wide upon beholding the plastic swords and shield that were lighting up with different colors. They would have already run away to play, but Flinx told them to wait so they could see Flinx’s gift for Violet. Flinx then gave the dollhouse that had three princess doll sets, complete with several doll dresses, and the dollhouse was furnished with complete toy furniture.

Everyone looked happy with the gifts Flinx had given them. David, Arcio, and Keero started running around, wielding their new glowing plastic swords and shield. Christopher and Ambrose started cleaning and polishing the weapons that he gave them. Violet and Olivia started examining Violet’s dollhouse in detail.
