DMS Chapter 109

At the park where Ambrose and the four kids were spending their time, Ambrose joined a few youths who were gathered on one side and were just there to waste their time. The youths were around his age, and there were five of them, consisting of three guys and one girl. They were doing the age-old activity that every youth in every world would do when they had nothing important to do. Hanging out with each other.

The good thing about looking after the four kids, Ambrose could ignore them since they were guarded by the stone golem.

“Hey, you’re that guy who is now serving a powerful, newly arrived wizard!” One of the young men said to Ambrose when he joined them.

Everyone introduced themselves to Ambrose. Two of them actually had seen the fight between Flinx and Semanor. Ambrose would have been envious since he hadn’t seen that fight, but since he now could see Flinx’s fight against the powerful dungeon monsters on the last floor of the Dungeon of Mara using Flinx’s magical devices, he now had the means to study Flinx’s fights.

Admittedly, Flinx’s fight was the stuff of mythical stories. Ambrose’s blood couldn’t help but boil whenever he thought about how Flinx was high up in the sky, raining death on the dungeon monsters.

The young men and women peppered Ambrose with several questions regarding his experience living with the powerful wizard.

Ambrose told them about Flinx’s tower and its capabilities. He was comfortable in sharing that information since it wasn’t a secret. Whenever anyone visited, Flinx himself would give a tour of the tower.

He told them about Flinx’s tower’s abilities to have a constant and comfortable temperature inside regardless of what the temperature was outside. He told them about the tower’s baths, showers, toilets, and sinks, like how it was able to produce hot and cold water with a switch. How each room was bright with sourceless lights that could be commanded to turn off when they needed to sleep. How the tower remained clean every day.

Ambrose also boasted about the stone golems and the giant water elemental that was guarding both the shop and the wizard tower. When he saw the five young men and women, whose eyes glittered at the magic that Ambrose experienced living with a powerful wizard, Ambrose felt extremely proud.

The five young men and women couldn’t help but believe Ambrose since they could see the stone golem that was watching the four children, and that those children were carrying toys that were glowing.

Just like Ambrose, the three boys in the group also wanted to become adventurers. Ambrose showed them the magic items that he was carrying. He boasted the fact that Flinx, who delved into dungeons every day, would always bring home powerful items that he didn’t care about, so Ambrose was assigned to sell them. Because the wizard didn’t care too much about the items, he boasted to the youths that Flinx agreed to lend him the powerful items until he became a powerful adventurer to earn enough coins to pay for them.

When the two girls in the group asked Ambrose why he was not afraid of being robbed, he pointed at the golem and told them about their one experience when several robbers tried to rob them. He told them that the powerful golem was able to defeat several robbers in just a few seconds. He also told them about how the adventurers in the guild challenged the golem and that the only one who won was Semanor, who was a Diamond Rank Shield Warrior. Not only that, even if Semanor sliced the golem into pieces, the golem was able to regenerate itself fully within a few minutes.

“Since the summoned golem was extremely powerful already, how powerful is your wizard master?!” One of the youths asked.

The two guys who had seen the fight between Flinx and Semanor told the others that the wizard was a truly powerful adventurer. Ambrose confirmed it by telling them that Flinx was delving the last floor of the Dungeon of Mara alone.

David, Arcios, and Keero were extremely careful with their battery-powered plastic toy swords and shields that light up since Flinx told them that the toys were a little fragile. Nevertheless, even if the toys broke, Flinx had shown them that he could fix the toys immediately using his spells. Still, they made sure that they were careful in handling their toys. This was the first time they had received toys from others, and to them, the toys were magical.

The fact that all the other boys in the park gathered to watch them play with their swords and shields was something the three boys were extremely proud of. The girls in the park gathered towards Violet, who was showing off her princess dolls.

David was even generous enough to lend his sword to others as long as they were careful in handling his sword and shield.

After a while, the boys noticed that the light emitted from their swords and their shields grew dim. They went to the stone golem, which was holding their solar-powered charger, and replaced the batteries with new ones while the golem started charging the used batteries.

The good thing about their toy swords and shield was how harmless they were. Some of the adults who were accompanying some of the children in the park examined their toys, for safety reasons, of course, and David didn’t hesitate in allowing their toys to be examined. Since the toys were made of soft plastic, even if someone used them as a club to hit others, the only thing that would happen was that the toy swords would break.

When noon arrived, Ambrose called the kids so they could eat lunch. They chose a nearby restaurant, and after they were done, they returned to the park to hang out there again. All of them actually enjoyed their time mingling with youths their age, especially since they were the center of attention, which was something every teenager wanted to strive for.

Olivia, followed by a stone golem, arrived at her shop and was happy to see that her two new salesgirls were already busy cleaning the place. Before entering the shop, she flipped the sign by the door to the “Open” side. The stone golem that was following her joined its comrades, so now, there were two golems on each side of the shop’s door.

She was highly amused that one of her girls, who was wearing the Tiara of Charm, looked extremely pretty. After a few minutes, customers started arriving. Olivia just observed her two new salesgirl doing their work and was satisfied. To be honest, since the shop only had three products, it wasn’t difficult to remember their prices. The only thing the salesgirl needed to do was to make sure that their action would remain elegant while presenting the scented soaps, candles, and the loofah poufs to the customer.

To be honest, Olivia thought that having just three products was a bit of a pity, but Flinx was adamant to keep the shop simple as long as the three items were popular. Olivia understood that Flinx had certain priorities, and the shop was somewhat at the bottom of that. Still, even with just three items, the shop was starting to become popular. Based on her calculation, she would have to tell Flinx that he would need to refill the shop’s inventory by the end of the week.

Once she saw that her salesgirl was capable of working by themselves, she headed to the second floor and started working on the lesson plan for the four children.
