DMS Chapter 108

Once Flinx was done with his purchases, he called Christopher and Ambrose. They asked him what he needed, and he told them that he would teach them how to use the Android Tablet and the Projector.

He gave them detailed instructions on how to operate the two devices, including when they should recharge the items and how to recharge them using the generator that Flinx had just purchased.

The lessons took the three of them around two hours to complete, and more than likely, once they were the ones setting up the tablet and the projector without him there, they would probably encounter hiccups along the way. Still, if they wanted to watch Flinx’s fight against the dungeon monsters, he had given them the means to do so, even if he was not there.

The next day, Flinx left for the Dungeon of Mara early. The four kids were still sleeping, so he didn’t disturb them. He told Christopher, who was already awake and was preparing everyone’s breakfast, that he was leaving for the dungeon even though it was only six in the morning. Flinx planned to eat inside the dungeon.

Flinx saw that Christopher was a little insecure and thought that the main reason why he was skipping breakfast was that the boy’s cooking was not to his liking. He just told Olivia’s brother that he wanted to leave early so he could return early and join everyone for dinner.

Christopher continued preparing everyone’s breakfast when Flinx left. While he was cooking, Olivia joined him in the kitchen. He told his sister that Flinx had already left for the dungeon, so he could return home for dinner early, and Olivia just nodded, clearly still a little sleepy.

Once breakfast was ready, which was just a simple fare consisting of an omelet, toast, milk for the kids, and fruit juice for Olivia and her two brothers, Olivia woke everyone up.

After everyone left, Olivia went to the shop by herself, followed by one of the golems. The second golem remained at the shop to act as its guard during the night. The third golem was assigned to follow Ambrose and the four children to whatever shenanigans they planned for that day. Christopher was going by himself to apply as an apprentice chef.

Christopher was truly determined to learn how to cook good food as soon as possible. Everyone in the family knew that Flinx was a foodie, and out of respect and gratitude, Christopher wanted to start serving good food to Flinx so that the wizard wouldn’t avoid eating with them.

Christopher knew that Flinx was truly a powerful wizard and could actually conjure extremely delicious food using his magic. He had seen the magic caster doing it. Flinx had told them that the magic caster had cooked the food himself during his travel with the merchant caravan, but they all knew that Flinx could conjure almost anything out of thin air.

The wizard had conjured a magic tower and magical guards for crying out loud. The magic items that Flinx had produced that let them see his fight against the powerful dungeon monsters were things that they could only imagine coming out of mythical stories. The items that his sisters were selling were also conjured by Flinx. With Flinx’s power, the magic caster could become one of the richest men in Ilioven. The magic caster was so powerful that Christopher was a little confident that there was no one in Ilioven who could threaten Flinx’s safety and all the people under his protection. The magic that came out of Flinx while fighting the dungeon monsters was truly powerful, and they had only seen it because of Flinx’s magical items.

When Christopher arrived at the restaurant owned by the chef who used to be a family friend, he expected to encounter some difficulties in meeting the chef from the people of the restaurant. Because of what happened with his family, he expected to receive bad treatment. He was surprised, though, when the waiters were nice to him and led him to the chef immediately. When Chef Richard met up with him, he was greeted enthusiastically by the man. He remembered the last time they met up with Chef Richard, which was just a few weeks ago. Richard, who used to be one of his father’s friends, was cold to them, but now, the man was acting as a close relative.

The chef saw his confusion and admitted that everyone already knew that he and his siblings were now known to serve an extremely powerful wizard.

Christopher just accepted that from then on, they would receive good treatment from others simply because they were associated with Flinx. He told the chef that he wanted to learn how to cook since the “wizard” expected to be served good food. Christopher wanted to use Flinx’s reputation so that the chef would teach him all the things he needed to learn how to be a good chef as soon as possible.

As expected, after paying for his tuition, Chef Richard started teaching him without holding anything back. The first thing the chef assigned him to do was to accompany the food shopper in the market so he could learn how to select the best ingredients.

For the next few hours, Christopher started learning from Chef Richard, and Richard didn’t hold anything back. He was glad that he used Flinx’s name to intimidate Chef Richard, and Christopher thought that it was the main reason why the chef was truly teaching him all the things that he wanted to learn how to become a good cook.

Ambrose and the four children accompanied Olivia until they reached the shop, and after that, he and the four children separated from Olivia and started roaming the streets of Ilioven. Since the four kids were experienced street rats, they were actually the ones teaching Ambrose the ways of the street. The main difference was that now, others were looking at them with respect instead of disdain. It couldn’t be helped since the five of them were being followed by a stone golem, and the fact that the three boys, David, Arcios, and Keero, were holding toy swords and shields that glowed.

Violet was the only one not holding toy weapons. It was understandable since she was wearing a pretty dress and was carrying an exquisite-looking doll, which was one of the three princess dolls that came with the dollhouse that Flinx had given her.

There was also no fear on Violet’s face, even though she was wearing a pretty dress. No one sane would try to harm her and her brothers while they were being guarded by a powerful stone golem.

When they arrived at the park, a lot of children who were there surrounded the three boys and Violet. Mainly, the boys congregated towards David, Arcios, and Keero, looking enviously at their glowing swords and shields, while the girls looked at Violet’s dolls with envy.

Violet remembered the time when the four of them used to look at the children playing in the park with envy. There they were, the children favored by the gods since they were born from families that provided them food and shelter, so that the only worries that they had were what games they could play in the park, while the four of them worried about where to get their next meal from. Now they were the ones being envied simply because they had met Flinx and were provided with things these kids could only dream of.
