Dungeon Miner Slave

DMS Chapter 114

Flinx had sold the rest of the items that he had received from the dungeon floor, aside from the three that he kept. Since most of them appeared to be novelty items like the Butcher’s Bounty, which was a knife that would allow the user to have extra yield when harvesting a dead creature, or the Fated Dice, which was a pair of dice that rolled whatever number the roller wanted. Some of the other items could be useful to adventurers, like swords that added elemental damage or armors that added defensive rating, but he still sold them off since he didn’t need them, and again, he didn’t want to give more magic items to Ambrose, who was the only one who would really need them in the future because he was the only who would become an adventurer in the near future.

He thought that it would be best for Olivia’s brother to earn magic items by himself by delving into dungeons once he was able to delve. Besides, Flinx had already given a few magic items to everyone.

Flinx had sold all of the items for a total of 3,500 gold coins to the guild and had paid 700 of those as tax.

All in all, Flinx’s finances were 9,325 gold coins, 3,560 dollars in his System Shopping Site, 4,499 low-level mana stones, 546 medium-mana stones, and 270 high-level mana stones. Looking at his finances, Flinx felt rich. He decided that once all the food that he had cooked was gone, he would start buying food from his system shopping site because his earnings allowed him to be a little extravagant when it came to food.

At first, he thought of buying all the available spells, from all of the 1st level spells to all of the 8th level spells, but he held off on doing that since it would be a huge expenditure and would do it once his savings increased more.

Once he had checked his attainment for the past three weeks, Flinx finally did something that he had been dreading doing. Checking up on the status of the dungeon miner slaves that remained in the world of the wizard enslavers. He was extremely relieved that he cried when he saw that, after several weeks, no more deaths occurred. He was grateful that his fellow Earthlings were diligent in updating the death counter on the forum that the dungeon miner slaves from Earth had been maintaining, and that the enslavers were careful with the remaining Earthlings.

Flinx was exceedingly tempted to share the information that one of them was in another world fighting with dungeon monsters so that he would earn the power to rescue them in the future, but he knew that it would be a mistake. He knew that if he shared that information, the wizard enslaver would know about it sooner or later. Not that his fellow Earthling would betray him, but because the wizard enslavers were just expert torturers, the slaves would not be able to help themselves but share information with the enslavers.

One downside of reaching level 8 in his wizard class was that the experience he earned per delve on the last floor of the Dungeon of Mara went down to 1.5 percent from 2 percent per delve. That meant that the experience points that he would be earning by delving the last floor twice would go down from 4 percent to 3 percent.

At the very least, Flinx managed to shave the time he needed to complete two delves from 10 hours to 9 hours. He felt that once he was used to casting a level 8 spell, he might be able to shave some more from the time he would need to spend delving. He felt that once he was able to shave it to four hours per delve, he could delve the floor thrice a day.

Another benefit of reaching level 8 was that, aside from the increased number of slots and brand new, powerful spells, he could now add another summon to the total number of summons that he could conjure. In truth, he didn’t need the elementals too much in his delve into the last floor of the Dungeon of Mara. Most of his encounters with the dungeon monsters were resolved quickly by raining down a massive number of spells on the dungeon monsters.

Also, during the last three weeks, Flinx didn’t achieve his goal of resting once or twice a day per week. He didn’t stop his delve, and in truth, he felt a little burnt out. The main reason why he was excited was because of reaching level 8 in his wizard class.

He decided that this time, instead of delving nonstop, he would rest once a week. At the very least, Flinx was always home at around six in the evening, so he was able to join the family for dinner and discuss their day-to-day shenanigans with them.

Flinx was also grateful that even though he was earning a lot, the Adventurer Guild didn’t bother him.

Rumus, the guild staff that he had befriended, told him that the guild was looking at him favorably simply because, even though he was a powerful adventurer, Flinx just kept on minding his business and didn’t care about anything else but delving. A lot of the people in the guild find it a little weird, but his situation wasn’t exactly rare. The guild had encountered powerful adventurers who kept to themselves. Normally, loners were a double-edged sword since no one knew what would trigger loners to become violent. The main reason why Flinx was different was that it was well-known that he had adopted four orphans and employed the children of a fallen noble.

The fact that the orphans that he adopted normally roamed around in the streets of Ilioven, followed by a powerful stone golem, meant that the orphans were not adopted for anything nefarious. When people asked the children, David, Keero, Arcios, and Violet would just tell anyone that asked that they were servants of Flinx, which was hard to believe since, first, the four children were well-dressed and carrying magical toys, and second, everyone saw that the children were becoming well-educated and would only start roaming around after lunch.

Flinx just shrugged when he learned that the four kids were free to act as kids in the streets after their lessons. He knew that no one would bother the kids because Ambrose told him that after several adventurers fought with the stone golem, it had become well-known that the golem was powerful and only a Diamond Rank could defeat it.

The three boys’ plastic swords and shield did get broken several times, but thankfully, Flinx could repair them easily using the Cantrip spell Mending. Because the boys had learned that it was easy for Flinx to repair their toys, they had become careless in treating them, and the toys needed to be repaired every night. Even though Olivia started nagging the three boys about that, Flinx didn’t care since it was truly easy to repair them.

Violet was different when it came to her toys. She played with them carefully and kept the dollhouse and the three princess dolls clean. She still requested Flinx to repair and clean her toys if she found any slight damage or dirt that she couldn’t clean using soap and water.

Once, she ruined one of her dolls’ hair because Violet tried cleaning it using soap and water. She cried so hard and only stopped when Flinx repaired the doll.
