Dungeon Miner Slave
DMS Chapter 132
Flinx was incredibly nervous about his plan of infiltrating the headquarters of the Torbal Slavers by pretending to be the apprentice of the old wizard he killed. At the very least, he had a massive amount of information from both the master and the apprentice that he had retrieved directly from their minds using the Detect Thoughts spell. He felt like there was a massive drum inside his chest.
He tried to calm himself, and once he felt he was ready, he went to the door of the mines. He touched the Array Node that would signal the door handler that someone wanted to enter. After providing the password, Flinx entered the mines.
“Why are you back already, Simon?”
“My master forgot his list of herbs and sent me to retrieve it from his workspace.”
“Your master is so old he had to send you back for that?” After one of the guards made that comment, he and his companion laughed.
Flinx just smiled, which was what the apprentice named Simon would have done. His master, and by extension, the apprentice Simon, was very low on the totem pole of the Torbal Wizards. Simon’s master used to be powerful, but because of the old man’s age, his power had declined. Because of that, Simon’s master had become the target for mockery by the younger wizards, and Simon had become the target of bullying.
Flinx would have thought that the apprentice was pitiful, but the fact was, Simon was also an extremely cruel man and would casually torture those weaker than him. That confirmed to Flinx the fact that members of the Torbal Wizards were cruel demons.
Thankfully, the guards were on duty and couldn’t continue bullying Simon, the apprentice, so after a couple of minutes of taunting him, they let him go. Flinx walked towards the quarters of Simon’s old master.
His main goal of going there was to retrieve a few of those slave collars that Simon’s master was keeping in his offices. There was also a slave collar master key in Simon’s master’s room. He planned to use the key to remove the Earthlings, but he also wanted to study the slave collars to check if he could remove them using his spells without harming his fellow Earthlings.
Flinx also wanted to imprint Vernos’s room in his mind so that he could use it as a teleport point if he needed to escape using his teleport skill and return to the headquarters of the Torbal Salvers. Vernos was the name of Simon’s master.
He met a few of Simon’s acquaintances along the way, who promptly ignored him. Flinx was grateful that he managed to capture someone who was so low in the slaver’s hierarchy that Simon was practically invisible.
Once he reached the Vernos’s rooms, Flinx muttered the incantation to unlock Simon’s master’s quarters. He was worried that simply uttering the phrases wouldn’t work since, according to the information that he had garnered from the thoughts of both Simon and Vernos, the incantation needed to be powered by mana, and Flinx didn’t know how to do something like that. The only thing he could do was cast one of his spells while muttering the incantation. Thankfully, it worked. The Gust spell that he cast was converted to energy that powered the incantation that unlocked Vernon’s rooms.
Once Flinx was inside Simon’s master’s room, he locked the door again so he wouldn’t be disturbed. Since he knew where to look, he found the slave collar master key and a few collars immediately.
He brought the key and the collars with him and went to Vernon’s workspace. He planned to use his seventh-level Plane Shift spell while he was inside Vernon’s workspace to teleport back into his room in Ilioven. He chose that place since Vernon had arranged arrays that would prevent mana from leaking outside. According to the information that Flinx had gleaned from Vernon, all of the Torbal Wizard’s workplaces had such an array to prevent disturbing others when they were casting spells for their experiments.
Inside Vernon’s workplace, Flinx started taking pictures of the room using his Android Tablet. Once he had taken tens of pictures, he started memorizing every nook and cranny of the place. Then he examined the pictures that he took of the place to make sure that he wouldn’t forget them. When he was confident that he had the place firmly in his mind, he used his Plane Shift spell to teleport into his room in his tower in Ilioven. When he saw that he was successful, he immediately returned to Vernon’s workplace.
Flinx started examining the slave collars. He wanted to check if he could open them using his spells. Besides, he needed to wait until night before he could start his plan of rescuing his fellow Earthlings, since that was the only time the Earthlings would be gathered in a single location.
After a couple of hours of studying the slave collars, he was able to open them using his Telekinesis spell, but he wasn’t confident that nothing would happen if he attempted to do so while they were on the necks of living creatures. Unfortunately, unlike other wizards in the mines, Vernon didn’t keep any other living specimen in his offices.
What it meant was that Flinx couldn’t take the chance of opening the slave collars using his spells. He would have to use the master key to open them. Because of that, he would have to move extremely quickly.
He couldn’t take the chance of teleporting while the Earthlings were wearing the collars. He didn’t want any accident to occur, even though when he was teleported back then, the slave collar that he was wearing disappeared. More than likely, the collar and his clothes’ disappearance were related to the gate that he used to travel to the new world.
Flinx waited until the night had deepened. Thankfully, the location of the Earthlings’ room was included in the information that he had gleaned from Vernon and Simon’s minds.
Once he was outside Vernon’s rooms, Flinx cast all of his defensive spells and finally, the Invisibility spell. He didn’t want anyone noticing him going to the slaves’ room, although that kind of action was normal enough since most wizards were perverted and would select some slaves to torment during the night, and it didn’t matter which gender the slaves had, or even which species.
Since the Earthlings had become the least valuable slaves, their quarters were not guarded. Although when Flinx was a slave, he hadn’t seen anyone guarding their quarters. The wizards believed that the collars were enough to keep the slaves in line.
He was extremely careful while walking. Flinx didn’t want to initiate any combat since he was alone and there were hundreds, maybe even thousands of wizards in the mines. If he were discovered, his mission could be considered a failure, and more than likely, the wizards would kill the Earthlings immediately.
Once he arrived inside the Earthling’s quarters, he observed for several minutes to make sure that no Torbal Wizards had noticed him. He was still wearing Simon’s face and robes, so even if he was noticed, he would just inform them that his master, Vernon, asked him to retrieve an Earthling for experimentation. That sort of action was normal for the Torbal Wizards.
Once Flinx was sure that no one noticed him, he dispelled his Invisibility spell and went to the caves where the Earthlings were staying.
“Hey, you three! Follow me!” Flinx commanded the three men who were sleeping in one of the caves.
The three men from Earth looked extremely afraid, but Flinx didn’t comfort them. Time was extremely tight, and he wanted to save everyone as fast as he could.
