Dungeon Miner Slave
DMS Chapter 151
Because of their newly created paradise-like home, inspired by elven aesthetics, everyone enjoyed spending time there. As a group, they decided to take a vacation for the next few days.
For the next two days, they lounged around the beautiful, crystal-clear lake governed by Pondy, whose control over the water made every activity on it more enjoyable. Whenever they became hungry, food awaited them on the table inside the resting tent built beside the tree between Pondy and the tent. The tent itself was designed to look as though it had been crafted by elves camping in the wilderness.
The food was prepared by their cooks and their assistants, who had grown accustomed to Flinx and the other Earthlings treating them as equals. Once they finished cooking, they joined everyone else in swimming and relaxing.
Christopher, Ambrose, and the four children were also given two days off. They spent their time playing around the lake and enjoying console games inside Flinx's tower. Whenever they grew tired of gaming, they returned to the water.
Flinx made sure to cast his Cleric spell, Lesser Restoration, on the children to ensure they would not get sick despite spending most of the day soaked from swimming.
There was little chance of anyone becoming ill in the first place since Pondy controlled the water's temperature. Even if someone did get sick, there were Clerics and Druids among them capable of curing any illness.
Olivia visited the shop to assign tasks to her employees, but she returned home after only a few hours. She, too, decided to take a vacation for the next two days.
The best part of the vacation was the food. Most of it was prepared by their cooks, but Flinx purchased many special treats through his System Shopping Site. Cakes, ice cream, sodas, and countless other delicacies appeared on the tables. He even bought foods that the locals had never heard of, such as authentic sushi and dishes from various countries on Earth.
Everyone was so determined to enjoy the vacation that there was almost a sense of desperation behind their enthusiasm. At least, only the Earthlings recognized it. Olivia, Ambrose, Christopher, and the four children—David, Keero, Arcios, and Violet—seemed completely unaware.
The Earthlings all understood that once the vacation ended, they would have to dedicate themselves fully to dungeon delving. Flinx, in particular, would need to run the final floor of the Dungeon of Mara at least five times a day if he wanted to reach Level Twenty as quickly as possible and eventually bring those who wished to return home back to Earth.
In truth, Flinx was not nearly as desperate as some of the others. He genuinely enjoyed dungeon delving. He enjoyed feeling magic flow through his body. He enjoyed destroying monsters with his spells. Most of all, he enjoyed the safety that came from knowing the final floor of the Dungeon of Mara like the back of his hand.
The dungeon also provided him with a tremendous income. At first, Flinx had worried that his success would attract unwanted attention from the higher-ups of the Adventurer Guild. Instead, they had asked why he had stopped running the final floor. He eventually learned that the guild greatly appreciated the steady supply of high-level mana stones he brought into circulation. They were particularly pleased by the fact that he faithfully paid his taxes, something his contact within the guild admitted was rather uncommon.
Most high-level adventurers looked for ways to avoid taxation, making Flinx an exception. To explain his absence, he informed the guild that he had suffered a curse while rescuing his countrymen from their enemies. He assured them that once the curse was removed, he would return to the dungeon and continue paying his taxes as before.
When Flinx shared the conversation with Mark and the others, Mark pointed out that Flinx's honesty and diligence had benefited all of them. He had built a strong reputation within the guild, and that reputation extended to his fellow Earthlings. The guild treated anyone Flinx introduced as one of his countrymen favorably.
That was likely one of the reasons why the people of Ilioven had been so indulgent toward them, despite many of the Earthlings selling vehicles from Earth through their System Shopping Sites.
Everyone understood that if they wanted to level up quickly, they could not afford distractions such as establishing side businesses, as Flinx had done. They needed mana stones, and because of their relatively low levels, they could not replicate Flinx's ability to earn vast amounts through dungeon delving alone. Selling vehicles had become their most practical source of income.
At the very least, their vacation remained wholesome. Everyone was mindful of their behavior around the children.
After hours of swimming, they would gather inside the large open-air tent situated in front of the towers. There, they watched movies on a massive television that one of the Earthlings had purchased, complete with large speakers and a CD player loaded with movie discs.
Watching movies with more than thirty people proved to be a wonderful experience. For the Earthlings, it brought a sense of normalcy. For the locals, it offered a sense of wonder and novelty. Everyone ate popcorn and drank soda while enjoying the films. Together, they decided to hold a Lord of the Rings marathon.
Throughout the afternoon, they immersed themselves in the world of Middle-earth. They especially enjoyed watching alongside those who had never seen the films before. Their reactions made it feel as though everyone was experiencing the story for the first time. They laughed during the humorous scenes, became excited during the battles, and shed tears during the emotional moments.
After the marathon, they ate once more before returning to the lake for another round of swimming. They finally went to bed around three in the morning.
The next day, the vacation continued much the same way. They ate, swam, relaxed, watched movies, and enjoyed each other's company.
Flinx was happy to see his fellow Earthlings enjoying themselves. They had spent years as slaves, and now they were finally able to experience genuine happiness. Once he reached Level Twenty and gained the ability to return to Earth, life might finally become perfect.
At least, that was what he hoped.
Deep down, however, he knew that healing from years of suffering would be a long and difficult journey.
When the second day ended, everyone agreed to extend the vacation by another day. Even Olivia eagerly joined in.
They ate, drank, swam, celebrated, watched films, slept, and then repeated the cycle once they woke up.
One amusing incident occurred when Olivia, her brothers, the children, the cooks, and their assistants began noticing strange events around the compound. Objects seemed to clean themselves. Tasks were completed without anyone visibly performing them. They even witnessed one of Flinx's countrymen issuing commands to empty air, only for those commands to be obeyed.
One of the cooks' assistants even screamed, "Ghosts!"
Flinx quickly gathered Olivia, her brothers, the children, the cooks, and their assistants to explain what was happening. Some of the Earthlings had cast a spell called Unseen Servant, which summoned invisible magical servants capable of carrying out simple tasks.
"Can you summon something like that?" David asked.
Flinx nodded.
He explained that he had never found much need for the spell before. Back when they only had a single tower, cleaning was simple enough, and there were plenty of people available to handle the work. Summoning invisible servants had seemed unnecessary at the time.
