DMS Chapter 167

Flinx continued walking, moving slowly and leisurely. The day was still young, the weather was beautiful, and the breeze flowing through the land was gentle and refreshing. The scent of the grass was fresh, while the sounds of animals from the nearby forest created the perfect background music for the peaceful adventure Flinx was currently experiencing.

He remembered that when he was back on Earth, one of his favorite games was Skyrim. There were times when he would simply walk through the roads and landscapes of the game to relieve his stress because of how beautiful the scenery was.

Now, Flinx felt as if he was living inside a real-life version of that game. He knew that once he traveled far enough from the city, he would eventually encounter monsters, wild beasts, and bandits on the road, similar to what his character in Skyrim would face while traveling between cities.

At that moment, however, Flinx knew there was little chance of encountering such dangers. He could still see farms scattered across the land, which meant he was still within a safe territory. It was understandable since he was still relatively close to the city of Ilioven, especially because he was walking at such a slow pace.

After a while, Flinx even started singing, but he stopped when he felt that his voice was disturbing the peaceful atmosphere and ruining the ambiance.

Not long after, Flinx heard a loud noise coming from a distance. When he looked toward the source, he saw a boy around eight or nine years old riding a horse that was running dangerously fast.

The boy was far too young to control a horse at such a speed, and Flinx knew there was a high chance that the boy would eventually get into an accident.

Flinx immediately realized something was wrong. The boy’s expression was too panicked to be normal. Thankfully, the boy slowed down when Flinx began waving his arms, signaling for him to stop. The boy eventually stopped when he reached Flinx.

“What happened, boy? Why are you riding your horse so fast?” Flinx asked gently, making sure his tone was not threatening.

“I need to find a healer from the city! My father fell from the roof of our barn. His arm broke, and he also has a head injury. My mother sent me to find a healer with all of our coins.”

The boy showed Flinx his purse, revealing around five silver coins inside. Flinx immediately understood that the amount was far too little for most healers to bother traveling all the way to their farm.

The boy would be lucky if he found a kind-hearted healer willing to accompany him back home.

More likely, his coins would be stolen by thieves in the city. The fact that the boy had shown his money to a stranger proved that he was too overwhelmed by panic to think clearly.

“My name is Flinx, and I’m a healer,” Flinx told the boy.

Flinx cast the Cleric’s first-level spell, Healing Word, healing the bruises he noticed on the boy. They were likely caused by the boy’s frantic rush to reach the city.

The boy was startled at first, but his expression changed to surprise when he saw that his bruises had disappeared.

Flinx then cast Lesser Restoration on the horse, relieving it of its exhaustion. The boy was even more shocked when he saw the horse suddenly stop breathing heavily and regain its energy, as if it had rested for several hours.

The boy quickly climbed down from his horse and suddenly knelt before Flinx, pressing his purse containing five silver coins toward him.

“Sir Healer, my name is Thomas. Please help my father!”

Flinx accepted the purse, not because he wanted the boy’s coins. He knew that if he refused, Thomas would only become more anxious.

The boy quickly climbed back onto his horse and waited for Flinx. Flinx stared at him for a moment before realizing that Thomas was expecting him to ride with him.

“I don’t want to ride your horse. Go ahead and hurry back home. I’ll follow behind you,” Flinx told Thomas.

Thomas commanded his horse to move, but he kept looking back to check whether Flinx was following him. Flinx understood why the boy was anxious. Time was important, and if Flinx continued walking, reaching his home would take much longer.

Flinx cast his Fly spell and began flying.

When Thomas saw Flinx suddenly take flight, his eyes widened in disbelief. Flinx simply gestured for him to continue, and soon the horse began running while Thomas rode ahead with Flinx flying behind him.

After twenty minutes, they arrived at a large farm consisting of several buildings. Flinx noticed a barn with an unfinished roof and assumed that was where the accident had occurred.

Thomas quickly climbed down from his horse, tied it to a post, and rushed toward the house while making sure that Flinx, who had already dispelled his Fly spell, was following him.

The boy immediately began shouting.

“Mother! I’m back with a powerful healer!” Thomas said the moment they entered the house.

A beautiful blonde woman quickly came out from one of the rooms, followed by a young boy around six years old and a toddler girl.

At first, the woman looked extremely worried when she heard Thomas’s words. However, the moment she saw Flinx’s Adventurer Guild Diamond Card displayed on his chest like a medallion, her expression immediately relaxed.

The worry was still visible on her face, most likely because her husband’s condition remained critical.

At the very least, Flinx was grateful that the guild’s cards were so well-known and respected that simply seeing one could immediately calm people down.

“Good afternoon, Ma’am. Thomas told me that your family needs a healer?” Flinx asked calmly.

He made sure to speak in a gentle and reassuring voice, similar to how doctors on Earth would speak to their patients.

“Yes. My husband suffered several injuries from falling. I tried my best to keep him awake because my mother taught me that when someone suffers a head injury, we need to keep them conscious,” the woman explained while leading Flinx toward the room where her husband was resting.

Inside the room, Flinx saw a man with dark hair lying on the bed. His arms and head were wrapped in bandages.

The problem was the heavy bleeding from his head wound, and his arms were twisted unnaturally.

Flinx almost gasped when he saw the extent of the injuries. Thankfully, he managed to stop himself because he knew that reacting too strongly would only worry the man’s family.

The woman remained by the doorway, and her children stayed beside her. At least they understood not to crowd the healer while he worked.

In truth, Flinx had little experience treating injured people. The only times he had used healing magic were when he healed himself after being injured by monsters in the forest outside Beldor Town using the wizard’s Healing Elixir spell, and when he healed the children from his adopted family after they caught a fever from swimming.

The moment he reached the injured man, Flinx cast his Cleric healing spells one after another.

He first used the Cleric’s first-level spell, Healing Word, followed by Cure Wounds, and then the third-level spell, Aura of Vitality.

He probably overdid it, but since he was unsure what was necessary, he simply decided to use everything available.

After casting his spells, Flinx saw the man’s twisted arm slowly return to its proper position. He carefully inspected the head wound beneath the bandages and saw that the injury had completely disappeared.

He removed all the bandages and, to ensure there were no remaining wounds or dirt, used Prestidigitation several times until the man was completely clean.

The amusing part was that the spell also cleaned the man’s clothes and even the bed.

Suddenly, the man opened his eyes and immediately sat up.

The man’s wife and children, who had been standing by the doorway, were startled when they saw him move. They quickly rushed toward him, and a scene worthy of a tear-jerking movie unfolded.
