Dungeon Miner Slave
DMS Chapter 223
Flinx’s daily journey with the two elven teenagers had become routine.
In the morning, after they had all freshened up, they would eat a huge breakfast that Flinx had purchased from the System Shopping Site.
Then they would resume their journey, walking leisurely along the road. Their pace was still abominably slow, but the two elves had grown accustomed to it.
Flinx would frequently stop to admire particularly beautiful scenery or a unique animal, using his tablet to take pictures and videos.
At first, the two elves had bothered him because they were curious about his tablet. Eventually, Flinx purchased a couple more tablets for them, which occupied their attention during their walks.
What surprised Flinx was that there were sellers on his system shopping site offering CDs containing the APKs of the most famous Android games. This meant he could install them on the two elven children’s tablets without needing an internet connection.
He found it amusing that he was essentially turning the two elves into the equivalent of Earth’s iPad kids.
What impressed him, however, was that the two elves could use their tablets while walking without running into anything.
When noon arrived, they would simply stop wherever they happened to be and eat lunch.
If the weather was nice, Flinx would set up a camping table and chairs for the three of them. They would then spend the next two hours resting after eating.
Usually, however, the three of them would rush through their meals before spending the remaining time pursuing their respective interests.
Flinx would either read books or watch sitcoms and anime, while the two elves would play games on their newly purchased tablets or laptops or read the science books Flinx had given them.
Still, Flinx became a little strict about their schedule and would resume their journey after two hours.
They would continue walking until the sun had set and it became too dark to travel.
The three of them would then avoid any villages they passed because the two elves felt that they were still too close to their home in the forest for their pursuers to trace their movements.
Since it really didn’t matter to Flinx, he simply agreed with what the two elves wanted and avoided the villages.
After about a week, Paul messaged him to say that he had found a psychiatrist willing to travel to the second world to treat him.
Paul explained that the psychiatrist was a friend of a friend and that he had to expend a great deal of effort to convince the man to meet with Flinx.
Paul had even shown the psychiatrist some of the magic items they had brought back from the second world to convince him that their story was real.
Still, Flinx would need to do a little more convincing once they met. However, that would be easy enough since the meeting would take place in the other world. All Flinx had to do was show the psychiatrist magic and the world he had been living in.
Their first meeting was scheduled for the following day.
That meant they needed to remain in one place long enough for the meeting, which made the two elves happy because they could spend the time playing games on their tablets and laptops or watching movies.
Flinx hadn’t forgotten that the two elven children’s goal was to reach their relatives in the kingdom of Neverwise, but they seemed content to let the journey take an unusually long time.
If Flinx thought about it, the two elves didn’t really have a choice. He held all the power in their current situation. If they separated from him, it wouldn’t be long before they were captured or killed by the people pursuing them.
Flinx chose to settle the log cabin beside a brook inside the forest. It was still close enough to the road that it would take only a few minutes to return to it.
Afterward, he made sure to memorize the location. He took pictures and videos of the area to help him remember it.
Once he was certain that the location was firmly etched into his mind, he teleported to the alley they were using as one of their transfer points.
Everyone had thought that the places Flinx had chosen as transfer points—the park and the alley—were far too open and insecure. They had decided that the locations needed to be changed, but Flinx simply hadn’t gotten around to doing it yet.
The truth was that every time Flinx traveled to Earth, he felt a lingering fear that he might lose track of time and lose his transmigration gift, leaving him unable to return to the other world.
Paul and the psychiatrist, a man who appeared to be in his forties, were waiting for him there.
The man was wearing clothing suitable for the autumn season because Paul had informed him that it was already deep into fall in the other world.
There was no one else in the alley, so Flinx dispelled his invisibility.
His sudden appearance startled the doctor, but Paul, who had been expecting him, remained calm.
Flinx nodded at Paul, grabbed the psychiatrist by the arms, and immediately cast the spell that would allow him to return to the other world.
When they appeared in the forest beside Flinx’s log cabin, the man’s eyes widened.
The psychiatrist quickly spun around, taking in his surroundings and trying to understand where he had ended up.
He soon started shivering despite his thick clothing. It was genuinely cold inside the forest.
“My name is Flinx, and Paul told me that you’re Dr. Mendez. He also told me that you’re already aware of my situation. Please, come inside my house,” Flinx told the man.
Once they entered the log cabin, Dr. Mendez’s eyes widened again when he saw the two elven children sitting at the dining table and playing games on their laptops.
The unmistakable sound of Plants vs. Zombies was playing loudly in the background.
“They’re the elves who were being chased. I rescued them,” Flinx told the man.
“Children, this is Dr. Mendez. He’s my guest, and he’s here to help me. Go play in your rooms,” Flinx told the two elves.
The two elves politely nodded to Dr. Mendez before immediately heading to their room.
Flinx invited Dr. Mendez to sit in one of the two chairs he had prepared beside the fireplace in the living room.
He then prepared hot tea for the two of them.
Dr. Mendez was startled when he saw Flinx conjure the tea from nothing.
Flinx had simply purchased it from one of the many restaurants listed on his system shopping site.
After that, their conversation began.
Thankfully, Flinx didn’t have to prove anything else to Dr. Mendez. Everything that had happened so far had already been enough to convince the man.
Flinx knew that he needed to be completely open about everything that had happened to him, so he was.
He started from the moment he had awakened and discovered that he had been kidnapped by the Torbal Slavers.
After a couple of hours, Flinx paused.
He had agreed with Paul that the initial meeting would last only a couple of hours.
At the very least, Flinx thought that Dr. Mendez was extremely professional.
The man’s questions allowed Flinx to open up about things he had forgotten or had been unwilling to confront.
Still, two hours weren’t enough for them to truly discuss everything Flinx had experienced.
Nevertheless, a promise was a promise, so he prepared to teleport Dr. Mendez back to Earth.
Their sessions were supposed to take place twice a week, meaning their next meeting would be in a few days.
Flinx felt relieved that he was finally addressing his mental trauma.
He knew it would be a long journey, but he was glad that he had finally taken the first step toward healing.
