DMS Chapter 65

Flinx was handed a thick booklet by Emily. The woman told him that the booklet contained the details of the dungeon, like what monsters reside on every floor up to the 50th floor. It also contained the materials that he could harvest from the monsters. He then understood why the information cost him 10 gold coins.

“Even though you’re a very powerful magic caster, we still recommend that you join a party before delving past the 40th floor. If you can’t find one, you can form your own and train them on the upper floors first,” Emily said.

“Can I still enter by myself and leave immediately once I have inspected a floor a bit?”

“Sure. You’ll waste your coins, though, but it’s your decision.”

Emily then told Flinx that if he had any more questions, he could return anytime and look for her. His 10 gold coins would cover a week of Emily answering his questions regarding the dungeon.

“I will probably be delving into the dungeon a lot, so I need a place to stay. Where’s the best place I can stay?”

“There’s an inn nearby where most adventurers that doesn’t have a nearby home stay, but if you are requiring something more decent than that inn, it’s dirty and loud by the way, the best thing that you can do is search for a home that has a room you can rent.”

“Can I buy a plot of land instead?”

“Why? Are you planning to build a house?” Emly asked smilingly.

“I have a wizard’s tower that I bring with me everywhere. I can place it on that land.”

Emily gaped at him, and even the four kids were looking at him in surprise.

“Well, if you’re looking to buy a plot of land, the best people who can help you with that are the merchant guild. Just go to their branch, and they could assist you with that.”

Flinx thanked Emily, then he left her office together with the four children whom he had hired as his guides. He asked the kids to guide him to the nearest Merchant Guild, and they did. At least, the kids really do know the place.

The Merchant Guild building was very lively. A lot of people were coming in and out, and all of them were very voluble. Once he was inside the building, Flinx approached one of the counters.

“My name is Sera. How can I help you, sir?” the girl behind the counter asked.

“I’m Flinx, and the adventurer guild told me to come here if I want to purchase a small plot of land near the Dungeon of Mara. I’m planning to place my wizard tower there.”

The girl looked a bit confused.

“You’re planning to build a tower?”

“No. I already have one that I carry with me everywhere. I’m a diamond rank magic caster,” Flinx told the girl.

The girl told him to wait a little, then she ran off somewhere. Probably informing a manager or something. After a few minutes, she returned together with a middle-aged man wearing very opulent clothes.

“My name is Merchant Vasquez. Sera here told me that you want to buy a plot of land so you can place your conjured tower there? Is that right?” the merchant asked, and Flinx just nodded.

The merchant invited Flinx to his office with the four kids still following him around like a bunch of puppies. The merchant eyed the orphans with a questioning look, and Flinx simply told the man that they were his guides.

Once they were all seated in Vasquez's office, the merchant asked Flinx what type of land he wanted.

“I would prefer that it be in an isolated place, like maybe inside a park or something. Once I’ve placed my tower in the land, I would then place some magic to guard it. That’s why it needed to be in an isolated place.”

“What’s your budget?” Vasquz asked.

“I don’t know the pricing of lands here, but I can pay up to 1,500 gold coins,” Flinx replied.

“I do know a place. The land used to be part of a minor nobleman’s manor. Actually, it used to be the manor’s garden, but the noble needed funds, so he decided to wall it off to sell. It’s a little small, but it's costly, that’s why it stayed in the market up until now. It’s around 20 minute walk from the dungeon of Mara. Its price is 1,300 gold coins, but we can probably lower it further. We can go there right now so you can check it out.”

Vasquez then stood up, and all of them exited the guild to go to the land that was for sale. Vasquez led him into a street full of good-looking small manors. They continued walking until they reached a beautiful but a little worn-down manor.

The merchant knocked on the door, and soon a tired-looking old man opened it.

“Butler Norwood, is your master home? I have someone here interested in buying the land beside the manor,” Vasquez told the old butler.

The butler invited them in and asked them to wait in the living room. After a while, a middle-aged man came downstairs, followed by the butler.

“Vasquez, my butler, told me that someone is interested in buying my garden…I meant the land beside my manor?” the man asked.

Flinx almost laughed out loud at the nobleman’s mistake.

“This is Flinx. Flinx, this is Sir Faraway. Flinx is a newly arrived Diamond Rank magic caster. He said he needed a plot of land to place his wizard’s tower.”

The nobleman gaped at what the merchant had said.

“What do you mean by a tower? Is it huge?”

“No, sir, it’s just a small tower,” Flinx answered.

“Let me show you the land so you can check if your…tower can fit on it,” Faraway said after a pause.

The nobleman led them outside, and then they all went beside the manor. There was a high wall with a gate beside the manor. Faraway fetched a key from his pocket and opened the gate. Then the man led them into what used to be the manor’s garden. There was a tall wall separating the garden from the manor, which would give the people who would buy the garden a modicum of privacy from the manor’s people.

The garden was still beautiful since it had a lot of trees enclosing the area, and there were still a lot of flowering bushes inside. The land that used to be a garden was large enough for Flinx’s Galder’s Tower. As a matter of fact, the two would probably just take up around half of the garden. Flinx didn’t have to remove the trees near the walls.

Flinx loved the little garden and nodded at Vasquez to signal that he wanted to purchase it. Vasquez told Faraway that Flinx would like to purchase the land. After that, a negotiation happened between the nobleman and the merchant.

Vaquez successfully purchased the land from Faraway for 1,100 gold coins. Flinx handed 1,200 gold coins to the merchant, so Vasquez could handle the processing of the papers.

“Are you going to summon your tower now? Can I watch you do it?” Faraway asked.

“Sure, but I need to draw it on paper first.”

“Okay then. I’ll go to the manor to retrieve the papers first,” Faraway left, followed by Vasquez.

“Are you going to be living here?” Runt asked.

“We’re all going to be living here. Since I’ve hired you to be my guide, you four have to stay in my tower.” Flinx told the kids who looked at him with wide eyes.
