“You’ll take us in? Are you adopting us?” Runt asked excitedly.

“I’m not adopting you! I’m looking for some people to hire. Since I already know the four of you, I’m giving you the chance to apply as workers in my tower. Since I’ve already hired you as my guides for a month, you can stay in my tower for that long, and once I’ve seen that you three are good workers, you can remain as servants in my tower,” Flinx told the four orphans.

“How long will you stay in this place?” Dirk asked with a worried face.

Flinx understood the kid’s worry. They probably would want to know if they would be living with him temporarily or for a long time.

“The main reason I’m in this city is to increase my power, and the only way to increase my power is to kill dungeon monsters. A lot of them, and that meant that it might take me years. That meant that I’ll need to stay here for years,” Flinx said heavily, since it was true.

Based on the experience he had in the forest outside Beldor Town, the rate of earning the amount of experience points Flinx needed to increase his wizard level would be slow. Still, he wasn’t really sure since he hadn’t killed that many high-level monsters yet.

“Why do you need to increase your power?” Runt asked, and Flinx just told them that it was something that he didn’t want to share yet.

“Now, since I’m planning to hire you four, I don’t want illiterate servants. That means that I will also have to enroll you in school. But first, let's solve our lodging issue.”

Flinx retrieved his Android tablet from his 4th tab space and opened a drawing app, and the device stole the kids’ attention, focusing on their need for schooling.

“The tower that I will be conjuring will consist of four floors. The first floor will be the living room, dining room, and kitchen in one. The second floor will be your bedrooms, the third floor will be the toilet and the bath, and the top-most floor will be my bedroom,” Flinx told the kids.

He then started drawing the details of every floor of the tower. Flinx asked for the kid’s input on the best design they could think of. The stairs will be a circular stair located in the corner to the upper left. The four kids actively suggested where the kitchen, the living room, and the dining room would be on the first floor. Once they were satisfied, they stated onto the next floor. The four kids were excited to design the location of their room. Since the tower was not going to be that big, it limited the placement of the rooms. Two rooms would be placed to the north and two rooms to the south, with a little hallway between them.

After they had designed the second floor, Vasquez and Faraway returned.

“What are you guys doing?” The merchant asked, and it was Runt who answered.

“We’re designing the wizard’s tower.”

The merchant and the nobleman were intrigued and watched the proceedings.

The design of the bathroom was completed, and then last was Flinx's bedroom. After that, the tower design was completed.

Flinx made sure to memorize the setup and chose to make the tower have a beautiful elven tower design as its base. The first thing that he needed to do was to put the Galder’s tower spell in the spell slot that would allow him to have four floors. At its base, which was the 3rd-level spell slot, the tower only had two floors. When slotted on the 4th level spell slot, the tower would have three floors, so that was where he usually put the Galder’s Tower spell. Since he would need four floors, he would need to put the Galder’s Tower spell into the 5th-level spell slot.

When Flinx slotted the Galder’s Tower spell on the 5th level spell slot, he suddenly noticed something different on the spell description. On the original description of the spell, if he wanted to make the tower permanent, he would need to cast the same tower configuration on the same location for a year. Then he saw that if he slotted the spell on a higher spell slot, the length of the time needed decreased. When the tower was slotted on the 4th level spell slot, the year-length requirement decreased to just six months. If the spell was slotted on the 5th-level spell slot, the length decreased to just three months. That meant that if he kept casting the Galder’s tower spell for three months, it would be permanent.

The spell would still tie him to the place since Flinx would need to make sure to cast it before the 24-hour duration lapsed. Still, three months was better than a year, and because of his Teleport spell, he would be able to return home before the duration lapsed.

Flinx also would need to verify one important thing, and that was whether he could teleport from inside the dungeon to outside.

“I’m ready to conjure my tower, so let’s all go near the gate,” Flinx told everyone after a few minutes of thinking.

They all immediately went near the gate and watched as Flinx conjured his tower, which was a little anticlimactic because one moment the land was empty, the next, a tower appeared.

The tower’s appearance was extremely beautiful. It looked like a beautiful tower from the land of the elves. The tower was white, and Flinx didn’t know if it was regular stone that looked white or if it was marble.

“It’s beautiful!” Flea said softly.

Flinx saw that everyone had open mouths while observing the tower. The size of the tower wasn’t grand. One could even describe it as a miniature tower, but it was truly gorgeous. He invited everyone in the tower and gave everyone a tour guide.

The first floor was the same as Flinx and the kids had designed. At least the placement of the furniture and utilities, but the elven aesthetic was truly something to behold.

“There is light inside, but I can’t seem to find the source,” Faraway said.

“The light is magic,” Flinx simply said, which made everyone gasp.

After everyone had seen the first floor, Flinx thanked the merchant and the nobleman. They were disappointed when they saw that Flinx didn’t intend to show them the other floors. He handed a purse filled with 1,300 gold coins to Vasquez, and the papers were then handed to him. The extra 100 coins were Vasquez's commission, and after that, the merchant and the noble left.

Flinx and the kids inspected every inch of the first floor, then they all went to the second floor. The second floor had four bedrooms, and Flinx let the kids decide which one would be theirs. Every room was the same. The good thing about the tower was that it had everything one would need, like furniture, mattresses, pillows, curtains, and more. Another good thing was that every time the spell was renewed, all of the things would be cleaned instantly.

While the four kids were busy enjoying their rooms, Flinx was a little overwhelmed at his impromptu decision to take them under his wings. He had set a goal for himself, and that goal would make him extremely busy. He knew that he didn’t have time to take care of the children. The issue was that, upon meeting them, he just couldn’t discard them. Maybe he could turn his gaze away if they were passerby but he engaged with them.

For some reason, Flinx was glad of his decision to take the kids under his wings. That meant that he didn’t turn into a monster and was still the same guy who had a bleeding heart that couldn’t let NPCs in a game get killed while playing games.
