DMS Chapter 92

The guild staff who received Flinx’s tax payment told him that it was a pity that he didn’t gather the materials from the dungeon monsters, else, he would have earned a lot more. Flinx couldn’t tell the man the truth that he was too lazy to butcher monsters’ corpses just to gather materials. Flinx was content with just the mana stones. Again, his priority in delving into the dungeon was to level up his Wizard Class.

Flinx did need gold coins, especially since there were now a few people depending on him, which were the four orphans, Olivia, and her two brothers, but he thought that the business that the family would open would earn them enough coins for their daily use. The products that the family shop would sell would come from Flinx’s system shopping site and would only cost him a few mana stones. Not only that, Flinx made sure to choose products that wouldn’t step on any merchant's shoes.

In truth, if the merchants were diligent enough in their research, the items that Flinx chose to sell could be copied easily, which wouldn’t affect Flinx too much since he would be content if the earnings of the shop were enough to support the daily spending of the family.

A tiny part of Flinx was condemning him for taking in four orphans and a destitute woman and her brothers. He was supposed to be concentrating on leveling up his wizard class so he could rescue his fellow dungeon miner slaves from Earth, but then again, he thought that if he kept going on without something balancing his mind, he would go insane. Right now, Flinx felt that the four orphans, Olivia, and her two brothers were the ones keeping him mentally balanced.

Flinx chose to walk home instead of teleporting back or even hiring a carriage. He needed time to think about his actions and his plans. First off, he thought that he could continue soloing the dungeon of Mara instead of finding a group to join. With his 5th-level Conjure Elemental spell, he already had three other powerful companions that would help him in fighting dungeon monsters. More, if he dismissed one or two of the three earth elementals he summoned to guard the family. Since Olivia and the kids would be staying in the shop the whole day, a single earth elemental would probably be enough to protect them. Still, he would not decrease the earth elementals that were guarding the family since three elementals were enough for Flinx to fight the dungeon monsters.

Flinx found it a little funny that he was now referring to the four orphans, their tutor Olivia, and her two brothers, Christopher and Ambrose, as his family. Another funny thing was, ever since Flinx arrived on this world, he hadn’t felt any attraction to anyone. Considering that Olivia was an extremely pretty woman and the same age as him, if it were him before the wizard enslavers abducted him, Flinx would have been all over Olivia by now. He couldn’t even watch porn videos anymore since he felt nothing watching them. He knew that he had become that way because of his experience as a dungeon miner slave and hoped that time would heal him.

Flinx remembered the severe pity he felt towards James when his fellow Earthlings who were enslaved at the same time as him were raped by the wizards. He remembered the extreme disgust and rage he felt towards the enslavers. When Jame returned from being abused by the wizards, Flinx knew by then that James would not last long. He could see in his friend's eyes the rage and the decision that the next time wouldn’t happen. It came true. The next time didn’t happen because James tried to fight off the wizards, and he was killed.

Flinx remembered that every time he encountered the wizards on the way to and from the dungeon, he would mutilate his face using the ground so that the wizards who liked men wouldn’t pick him to be raped. He was successful in doing that, but the guilt that he felt was tremendous since the others with him were the ones who were chosen by the wizards to be abused.

The most unfortunate ones were the women. They were usually taken by the wizards as soon as they arrived from Earth. Most women from Earth didn’t last long. Flinx was extremely thankful that the wizards didn’t consider abducting children. If they did, he knew that he would have long joined James in the afterlife. He wouldn’t have been able to watch while kids were being abused, and would fight the wizards off, and it would have cost his life. That was the main reason why Flinx felt that he was damaged.

The sun had already set when he arrived back. Flinx saw the three earth elementals by the door and knew that everyone was already home. The first thing he did was renew the Galder’s Tower spell. After that, he entered the tower.

Everyone greeted Flinx. He saw Christopher by the kitchen, cooking dinner for everyone. Ambrose was on the dining table, cleaning the sword, shield, and bracers he had asked the boy to take to the guild to have them identify them. He saw Olivia asking the four children to arrange the things they had purchased that they would use for their studies. The four kids were looking at their study materials, which were a few children's books, a notebook to write on, wooden boards they would use as blackboards, and some writing chalks. Each one of the kids also had their own bags they would use to keep their things.

When Flinx sat down, the four kids who greeted him were told by Olivia to put their things in their rooms, so they all ran upstairs, shouting just like what kids do when excited.

“Flinx, I want to talk to you,” Ambrose said excitedly.

“Shush, you! I have to talk to him first! Flinx, I already rented the place that we can use to sell the soaps and candles. I already paid the first month's rent and the deposit using the last of the coins that remained from purchasing the things the tower needs. The shop still needs several things, like a signboard, some shelves, and display cabinets. Just give me 100 gold coins, and I’ll have the store ready in a day!” Olivia said excitedly.

Flinx handed Olivia 100 gold coins.

“Please hire a shopkeeper and make sure to have a small classroom inside the shop so you can start teaching the kids while looking after the shop.”

“I’ve already planned it, so you don’t need to worry about the four kids’ education,” Olivia said, and Flinx just nodded.

“My turn. The guild identified your items, and they’re powerful! The total tax is 60 gold coins, but I already paid for it,” Ambrose proudly said.

Both Olivia's and Christopher’s heads swiveled towards Ambrose. Flinx saw the boy become nervous.

“What did you do! Where did you get the coins!” Olivia shouted at her brother.

Ambrose nervously explained to them that when he arrived at the guild, the adventurers wanted to fight the stone golem. Since they were persistent, the boy agreed, but he charged the adventurers coins every time they wanted to fight the golem. A lot of the adventures challenge the golem, including Semanor, who sliced the golem to pieces, but managed to regenerate itself. Because of that, Ambrose earned a total of 80 gold coins.
