DMS Chapter 93

Flinx didn’t scold Ambrose regarding the boy’s decision to use the earth elemental as some sort of gladiator or training golem to earn coins, but he did tell Olivia’s brother, all of them, for that matter, not to do such a thing anymore. The earth elementals, aka stone golems, were to be their protector. He didn’t scold Ambrose because he could see from Olivia and Christopher’s faces that Ambrose would receive an earful from them.

When the four kids overheard that Ambrose used the earth elemental to fight with the adventurers for a fee, the four kids started wheedling Olivia’s brother to tell them all about the fights. Flinx just shook his head when Ambrose excitedly gave everyone a play-by-play action of the fights between the stone golem and the adventurers. The four kids cheered when they learned that the stone golem was undefeated. The only one who was able to defeat the golem was Semanor, which was understandable in the kids’ opinion, since Semanor was a powerful diamond rank shield warrior. Flinx did tell them that if he and Seminar fought for real, there was a huge chance that Flinx would lose, so that meant that Flinx’s summons, which was undoubtedly weaker than Flinx, would lose to someone like Semanor.

What excited everyone, including Olivia and Christopher, was that even though Semanor had cut the golem into pieces, the golem was able to regenerate and heal itself fully in such a short amount of time. That brought them comfort that they would be safe when protected by three stone golems.

Flinx planned to join everyone in going to the new shop that Olivia had rented the next day, which meant that he would rest from dungeon delving. According to Olivia, it would only take a short amount of time to have the shop ready, which meant that they could start operating the shop by the afternoon the next day.

Olivia told Flinx that different types of shelves that shops used were common, and most furniture shops would have them available for sale, and they could acquire them immediately. Once they had the shelves, he could start buying the scented soaps and candles to be stored on the second floor, which would function as a combination of the shop’s warehouse and the four kids’ school.

Olivia told her that she also hired a couple of cleaning ladies to clean the shop yesterday, which cost her just a few copper coins, so they expected to see a clean shop the next day.

“Don’t we need to do more, like paint or make sure that the walls or floorings were not damaged?” Flinx asked Oliva.

“No. The shop was restored to its pristine state by the owner before renting it out. The only thing we would need to do is to hang our shop’s sign and fill our shelves with soaps and candles,” Olivia said excitedly.

Olivia also requested to delay the kids’ studies for a week, at least until the shop was settled and they hired a shopkeeper, and Flinx agreed.

After that, Christopher served dinner to everyone. The kids weren’t picky and ate everything that Oliva’s brother had served. Olivia and Ambrose were used to Christopher’s cooking, so they ate mechanically. Flinx just ate a little. He planned to eat some of the food that he had cooked while he was traveling with the merchant caravan. He still had a lot of them left in his 4^th tab space.

While they were eating, David told Flinx about their old neighbor visiting the tower while they were swimming in the pond. David told Flinx that Faraway was very curious and actually stayed for hours to watch them swim.

“You don’t need to worry about that old man, Flinx. We can tell that he’s not a pervert. He was just curious about Pondy,” David said while Arcios, Keero, and Violet nodded.

“Pondy?” Flinx asked.

“That’s the name we gave the water golem,” Keero said.

Flinx mentally shrugged and accepted it. He wasn’t worried about the four children’s safety. They had sharp instincts when it came to malicious people that they had honed in the months that they stayed roaming the streets of Ilioven after they were thrown out by the orphanage. They were also protected by one of the earth elementals and the giant water elemental.

“I forgot to tell you, Semanor and his two friends, a slim diamond rank warrior and a beautiful lady wizard, wanted to ask if they can visit our tower. I told them that you’re home during nights, so they said to tell you they planned to visit tomorrow night,” Ambrose said.

“What for?”

“They were extremely impressed by the stone golem, and I also told them about the tower, and the lady wizard wanted to see it,” Ambrose said, and Flinx just shrugged.

If they wanted to see his golems and his tower, Flinx would just show them. He was sure that Semanor and his friends were wise enough not to ask him to show the process of his spellcasting. No wizard would casually show such things to others. He had already shown great amiability by allowing a lot of people to watch his ranking-up fight against Semanor.

The next day, after breakfast, everyone went to the shop that Olivia had rented. When they reached it, Flinx was a little impressed at how good-looking the shop was. It was pretty viewing it from the outside, and it was between businesses that wouldn’t be affected by the smell of the scented soaps and candles.

When they entered the shop’s premises, Flinx saw that the first floor was spacious. The kids started running around the whole shop. He went to the second floor, and it was mostly the same as the first floor. After that, Olivia, Christopher, and Ambrose, followed by two stone golems, left to commission the shop sign. According to Oliivia, the sigh shouldn’t take long since it was simple enough. It would state Olivia’s Scented Soaps and Candles.

While the shop sign was being created, the three siblings would then purchase the furniture that the shop would use, and have them deliver immediately to the shop. Flinx and the four kids would remain in the shop to receive the deliveries.

Once Olivia and her two brothers left, the four kids got bored and asked to go outside. Flinx agreed as long as they brought one of the stone golems with them. He knew that it was actually what the kids wanted to do, to bring the golem outside to boast about it to their friends.

When the kids received Flinx’s agreement, they all immediately ran outside with the stone golem following them. He summoned Pip, his owl familiar, and asked it to follow the kids to make sure that David, Arcios, Keero, and Violet were safe. In the meantime, Flinx stayed just outside the shop and started talking to the owner of the tailor shop beside their shop.

The tailor wanted to know what kind of shop they were planning to open, so Flinx told them about the scented soaps and scented candles. He knew that the tailor was a little relieved that the new shop wasn’t related to clothing. Thankfully, Flinx hid his adventurer guild cards, so the tailor wasn’t reticent in speaking with him.

Soon, Flinx was surrounded by nearby shop owners. Mostly because it was still very early and there weren’t many customers yet. The women among the group were intrigued by the items Flinx was planning to sell and promised to check them out once the shop was opened.
