Elden Ring: Starting as Melina’s Sister

Ch. 108 Merlin, you are the most useless

  • Next Chapter

When Mia and the other two approached Artoria’s group,

Mia, despite being the leader, was not the most eye-catching one.

Artoria and the other two looked up, gazing at Wilden behind Mia.

“So… so tall.” Kay’s mouth twitched.

In front of Wilden, the sturdy Kay looked just like a small child.

A knight who could be described as a giant, wearing a surcoat of the Erdtree and a lion.

Full of oppressive force, every inch of his body exuded an aura beyond that of an ordinary person.

Merlin looked up at Wilden as he approached, his throat bobbing as he swallowed.

He felt it becoming difficult to breathe.

Except for certain crossbreeds of fantasy species and humans, even in history, very few humans of such stature have ever appeared.

This person, despite wearing a helmet that revealed his face, gave people the feeling that he was wearing a mask.

It was as if he were a statue.

Merlin noticed that this person’s eyes were a rare golden color.

“Are you a knight?”

Artoria asked cautiously.

Wilden thought for a moment without changing his expression…

Just as he was about to shake his head in denial, Mia answered for him.

“That’s right, Wilden is a knight.”

“…” Wilden was silent for a moment.

Then, without refuting, following Mia’s words, he nodded affirmatively: “Yes.”

“Hmm…”

Although she really wanted to say something like ‘Could you please offer me some guidance?’

Wilden’s mechanical, cold expression made Artoria shrink back a little.

Of course, if it were an enemy, she would do everything in her power to defeat them regardless of what they were.

But if it were someone she could get along with peacefully,

she couldn’t help but let her imagination run wild.

She wanted to leave a good impression on the other person, but was especially afraid of messing it up.

“Hello.” Melina gracefully bent her knee and bowed slightly to Artoria.

“Um, hello.” Regaining her senses, Artoria also hurriedly returned the greeting politely.

She placed her left hand on her right chest, bowed, and nodded.

It was not a lady’s etiquette in the traditional sense.

Rather, it was exactly the same as a greeting between men.

Obviously, Merlin curled his lips in some disappointment upon seeing this scene.

Thinking ‘As expected, Artoria hasn’t taken lady-like etiquette to heart’, he decided that he must give Artoria some remedial lessons later.

A girl knight, before being a knight, must of course be a girl first!

Artoria straightened up.

Melina bowed her head slightly, looking at the girl in front of her who looked almost exactly like Mia.

She did not feel the aura of the Erdtree from her.

Not even a little bit.

So, it should just be a coincidence.

Merlin reminded at this moment: “Well, let’s get on the road quickly. If it gets any later, we won’t be able to return to the village before sunset.”

“That’s true.”

Mia nodded in agreement.

Since this was the time before Artoria became king, the era was naturally ancient.

To be precise, it was around the sixth century AD.

As everyone knows, ancient times did not have as many entertainment activities as modern times.

Coupled with the lack of lighting facilities, most of those wandering outside in the middle of the night were not good people.

Next, it was a journey for the six of them together.

They hadn’t walked a few steps.

“Miss Mia.” Artoria spoke to Mia again.

“Hm?”

“May I ask, are you the master of these wolves?” Artoria asked.

“That’s right,” Mia nodded.

Artoria looked at the few Spirit Wolves surrounding them.

The huge, entirely silver-white Spirit Wolves, as if gifted by the heavens, had agile and graceful postures, and that hazy fluorescence gave them an even more sacred aura.

How could these be the ominous ghost wolves the villagers spoke of?

“According to what you said…” Mia pondered for a moment: “These wolves are magical creations, they are familiars.”

“Hmm…” Although Artoria’s direction of study was not that of a mage,

after being influenced by Merlin for so many years, she did not lack common sense regarding magic.

She couldn’t take her eyes off the beautiful white Spirit Wolves at all.

Artoria explained: “We received a commission from the villagers, which is why we came here to search for the traces of the wolves.”

“Well, about that…” Mia pondered for a moment, thinking about how to smooth things over.

“Because I got lost in the forest, I let the wolves help me find the way. I didn’t expect to scare the villagers.”

“However, don’t worry. Since these wolves are my familiars, I can make them hide their forms at any time.”

Saying this, Mia glared at Lappland.

The latter blinked her eyes innocently.

“Since it’s a misunderstanding, it’s great that it can be cleared up!” Artoria said happily: “Let’s go to the villagers together later to clear up the misunderstanding!”

Merlin scratched his head and interjected: “That might not be very convenient…”

Wolves are wolves after all, predators that live by attacking livestock and weak beasts.

Moreover, Mia’s Spirit Wolves also had this occult-related buff.

The villagers would treat the appearance of wolves like a formidable enemy.

Even if Mia could really explain it, she would probably still be guarded against by the villagers.

“Does Merlin have any insights?” Artoria asked.

Merlin explained his thoughts.

“Hmm…” Mia didn’t think there was anything wrong with it; on the contrary, she marveled at how thoughtful Merlin’s plan was.

But Artoria was different.

“Are we going to deceive those villagers?” She pursed her lips and asked reluctantly.

“This doesn’t count as deception.” Merlin replied: “Think about it, when the elder entrusted us, what did he say?”

“It was…” Artoria thought for a moment: “He asked us to go into the mountains to find wolves that might threaten the village.”

“Exactly!” Merlin grinned: “So, are the wolves we found threatening the village?”
