Elden Ring: Starting as Melina’s Sister
Ch. 109 Artoria looked at the Spirit Wolves
Artoria looked at the Spirit Wolves, then looked at Mia, and subsequently, her eyes widened, revealing a look of sudden realization.
“I see!”
“Mm-hmm, so, wolves that threaten the village do not exist, understand?”
“Understood! Teacher Merlin.”
“Then you understand what to say later, right?”
“Just say that there are no wolves that threaten the village!”
“Mm-hmm!” Merlin nodded with satisfaction: “That’s right! You are very quick to understand!”
The inexperienced Artoria, although simple, was definitely not stupid.
She could naturally understand what Merlin meant.
To be safe, Mia decided to put the Spirit Wolves into the spirit calling bell right now.
Bearing the identical, resentful gazes of the three Spirit Wolves, Mia apologetically rang the spirit calling bell.
Walking along the road in the twilight for nearly an hour, the sky was already covered with a layer of pale blue, and the village finally appeared before their eyes.
From far away, the hunter waiting at the entrance of the village saw their tracks.
“Elder! Elder!” The hunter shouted towards the village.
The elder walked out of a house nearby.
The one at the entrance of the village was of course not his house, but as a respected elder, it wasn’t impossible for him to rest in someone else’s house.
He walked forward quickly.
When the old man saw the three other people following behind Artoria and the others in the dim light, he said, “This is…”
“Let me explain.”
Merlin stepped forward: “As for the matter you entrusted to us… to be honest with you, the wolf that you claim is threatening the village does not exist.”
“Hmm,” Kay nodded behind him: “It seems your eyes are hallucinating, Mr. Hunter.”
“Huh?” The hunter was stunned.
“That shouldn’t be?”
He had personally led these people to the woods on the edge of the village and discovered the traces of the wolf.
The footprints were clearly visible!
“Yes, yes, it’s truly a pity…” Merlin shook his head regretfully: “It seems that those footprints didn’t belong to a wolf either.”
“What?!”
The hunter felt as if his decade-long career had been deeply insulted.
“If you don’t believe me, go take another look now. After calming down for so long, you will surely discover your previous mistake.”
The reason he dared to say this…
was because, just a moment ago,
this guy had used magic to conceal the Spirit Wolf footprints at the edge of the forest.
The stubborn hunter, eyes wide, ran toward the edge of the forest in disbelief,
wanting to confirm whether what Merlin said was true.
The elder looked at the hunter’s retreating figure with anger: “Hmph.” But then, it turned into resignation.
“Sigh, I suppose life has been getting harder lately, and this child is under too much pressure.”
He sighed and shook his head.
The elder remembered that when he was young, the land was far more fertile than it is now, and there were far more animals in the forest.
No one worried about whether tomorrow would be peaceful.
When did all of this begin to change?
Was it after the news of the Anglo-Saxon pirates came from the east?
The time spent wallowing in self-pity lasted only a few seconds; he knew there were new guests in front of him.
He looked at the tall Wilden, his Adam’s apple bobbing.
Then, a smile piled onto his face: “And these are?”
“I was just about to say,” Merlin replied: “On our way into the mountains to look for the wolf, we found some lost travelers.”
“Lost travelers, you say…”
The elder frowned.
Wilden had already sighed, and next, he cast his gaze toward Mia and Melina…
Two beautiful young women, one with her eyes covered,
and one with her right eye tightly shut.
‘To still go out traveling like this?’
He didn’t know if it was romantic or foolish.
A feeling of pity suddenly rose in the elder’s heart.
And that tall knight who looked like a giant.
He was truly worthy of being a knight; was he protecting these two young women?
“I never expected there to be lost travelers so close by…”
He exclaimed, thanking Artoria repeatedly: “If not for you, I don’t know what these travelers would have done in the forest at night…”
Mia responded politely: “It’s no trouble. We’ve arrived suddenly and caused you inconvenience.”
“Please, come in, come in.”
Saying this, the elder cleared the path: “I will go prepare the reward right now…”
“Ah, that won’t be necessary…” Artoria quickly stopped him: “After all, we didn’t find the wolf.”
“Hmm…” The elder hesitated for a moment, then nodded.
He muttered to himself in a low voice: “That is truly great…”
“What?”
The elder immediately smiled even more brightly, his wrinkled face full of curved lines: “I said, there are no wolves in the mountains, that is truly great!”
“That is indeed a good thing!”
Artoria nodded in agreement.
Under the elder’s guidance, the group entered the village.
The villagers who hadn’t rested yet saw the group of six imposing outsiders and couldn’t help but cast their gazes over.
Especially toward Wilden.
The tall knight brought up the rear of the team, and no matter where he was, he attracted a flurry of whispers.
“That’s a giant, right?”
“No, giants shouldn’t be that… eh…”
“My god, what did he eat to grow up like that?”
And things of that nature.
The village chief led the group toward the village inn.
Whether it was Artoria’s group of three or Mia’s group of three, their attire didn’t look like that of ordinary commoners.
As the elder of this village, he naturally couldn’t neglect these distinguished guests.
He turned back to look at Mia from time to time.
This newly appeared young woman and the young woman in the white dress looked so similar.
Were they really just simple travelers?
He was still worried that this young woman with her face covered would be tripped by raised stones or sunken pits on the road.
But Mia’s movements were, of course, the same as a normal person.
Not only would she not be tripped by the bumps on the road,
