Elden Ring: Starting as Melina’s Sister
Ch. 111 You are the King, that is fine
“Ah—”
The innkeeper, flattered, left the room holding a ruby.
As a businessman, he was knowledgeable and clearly knew the value of the goods better than the elder.
The gem that Mia could take out so casually was more than enough to buy the entire inn.
The boss was dazzled by the immense wealth.
And Mia, having almost no concept of this, had already collapsed onto the soft and comfortable double bed.
Of course, by the standards of her previous life, this bed could not be called very comfortable.
But for Mia, who had been sleeping in the open and on floor mats for months in The Lands Between.
This bed was absolutely a haven of comfort.
Thick animal skins were spread on the surface, pressing down the dry, fluffy hay underneath.
It also blocked all the hard protrusions of the hay.
Once lying on it, one could immediately feel an incomparable softness; the fur rubbing against the skin felt just like being in someone’s embrace.
The so-called best room Mia stayed in was actually a separate small cottage next to the inn.
According to the innkeeper.
This room was dedicated to the local lord when he went out hunting in the autumn.
But that didn’t stop the innkeeper from renting it out to guests who could afford it when the lord wasn’t there.
Although Mia requested two rooms, there was only one of the best.
Including the small cottage where Mia slept, this small inn in the village only had three guest rooms in total; the rest were large shared dormitories in the attic.
As for the other two single rooms.
They were connected to the main house, simple and cramped, with furniture consisting of only a bed and a chest, plus a candlestick hanging on the wall, and the area was no more than five square meters.
Quite characteristic of the era.
Although these small buildings attached together were called an inn, it was clear that providing accommodation was not the main business; most of the time, this place served drinks and snacks to the villagers.
Calling it a tavern might be more appropriate.
Unlike the filthy Middle Ages in the legends of her previous life.
In this Celtic village, there was no foul stench in the air.
It could definitely be called clean.
After all, it was a country that had been civilized by Rome, so the concept of public hygiene still existed. It had not yet been messed up by the invading Anglo-Saxon barbarians.
Although such villages could not have sewers, conventional farm public hygiene facilities were well done.
Mia naturally shared a room with Melina.
But after Wilden saw the single bed in the other room…
He helplessly indicated that he would rather sleep in the shared dormitory.
No other reason, the bed was too small.
So, those two small guest rooms were taken by Artoria and Merlin.
Kay and Wilden went to sleep in the shared dormitory together.
Mia’s good mood lasted until about forty minutes later, when the innkeeper personally brought the meal.
Two large round wooden plates, corresponding to two identical sets of meals.
White bread with a beautiful golden-brown crust and snow-white inside.
And pea stew that smelled delicious.
It was all very good.
But the contents of the other bowl on the plate were indescribable.
Exuding a strange spicy smell, a lump of purple-red matter, completely unrecognizable in its original form, was placed in a soup of the same color.
“…What is this?” Mia’s expression was a bit strange.
“Red wine stewed pears, respected lady,” the innkeeper bowed exaggeratedly: “Added cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg.”
“…”

The innkeeper continued: “This dish is pea stewed rabbit, containing powder ground from Roman pepper, mace, galangal, and cloves.”
At least this dish looked much more normal.
“Take the pears away.” Mia resisted the urge to make a face and said politely to the innkeeper.
“This…” The boss was afraid that the big spender in front of him would be in a bad mood: “Is there something that doesn’t suit your taste?”
What doesn’t suit my taste?
Everything doesn’t suit my taste, okay!
However…
Respecting the dietary culture of other countries, I’ll let the complaining slide.
“Bring me another dish.” Mia replied.
The boss was a bit troubled.
It was already dark outside.
If she were to spend more time and effort preparing a fine meal, the dinner for the distinguished guest before her would be delayed even further.
“I am terribly sorry, I didn’t ask about your preferences in advance…”
“That doesn’t matter,” Mia looked at the food on the plate, then said, “Just bring me some vegetables.”
“Only vegetables?”
“Yes, vegetables will do.”
Since she had already paid, Mia would not hesitate to make requests.
“I understand.”
The innkeeper removed the bowl of red wine poached pears from Mia’s plate and glanced at Melina as if seeking her opinion.
Melina looked at the food placed before her.
She had no intention of being a picky eater.
After learning of Mia’s request, the innkeeper left and returned shortly with the food she had asked for.
Boiled cabbage.
In this era, raw salads were not as popular as they would be in later generations.
Of course, plain boiled cabbage had no flavor.
The innkeeper poured a sauce made of vinegar, honey, and garlic over it.
Before he returned, Mia had already finished most of the meal that had not been taken away.
Soft white bread, and rabbit stewed with peas and spices.
It made Mia feel quite content, almost forgetting her home.
It brought back some memories of her past life.
“Phew…”
After wolfing down her meal, Mia collapsed onto the bed with a sense of relief.
Turning her head, she saw Melina still eating slowly and deliberately.
“How does it taste?”
Mia, lying on the bed, rolled over and propped her head up with her hand to ask.
At least in Mia’s opinion, this meal was far better than the wild vegetable and beast meat stew in The Lands Between.
Melina nodded. She held her spoon and treated every bite with the utmost solemnity.
Mia quietly gazed at Melina’s profile.
About what to do in this world in the future.
Marika’s grace must be able to choose different worlds according to her wishes.
She wanted to become stronger and wanted to know how to become a qualified leader.
And then, the grace had transported her to Britain.
