Elden Ring: Starting as Melina’s Sister

Ch. 112 Mia felt that meeting Artoria was not a coincidence

  • Next Chapter

Mia felt that meeting Artoria was not a coincidence, but something preordained. What she sought would surely be found in that young girl who would one day become the King of Britain.

What a coincidence.

Mia thought to herself.

Artoria was undergoing her training to become a king.

She was also undergoing her own training to become the Elden Lord.

Perhaps she could travel with Artoria later?

Well, that’s decided. When Artoria and the others are about to leave, she would just tag along.

Also, she needed to find the village tailor tomorrow to mend the holes in her traveling clothes.

Her wandering thoughts came to an end, and Mia suddenly sat up.

She felt a bit too full.

“Do you want to go out for a walk?”

Mia asked Melina.

“Alright.” Melina had just finished eating, wiped her mouth with the napkin that came with dinner, and replied.

“Then let’s go.”

Mia stood up.

Without disturbing the innkeeper, the two of them stepped out onto the street.

The island nation had a cool climate.

It was mild and humid all year round, with little variation in temperature between the seasons, and the average annual temperature was only about twelve or thirteen degrees.

On this night at the turn of spring and summer, a refreshing and pleasant breeze was blowing.

In the sixth century, lacking artificial lighting, the village was exceptionally dark after nightfall.

Looking up at the sky, dark clouds basically obscured all light from above.

And at such times, the lights on the ground appeared exceptionally prominent.

A torch seemed to be lit inside the stable, and there was someone inside.

Mia walked over there out of curiosity.

A young girl’s voice came from the stable.

“Hey, Stallion, I encountered something incredible today…”

Artoria was gently brushing the mane on the white horse’s neck.

“Someone who looks almost exactly like me—it sounds incredible, doesn’t it? Her name is Mia, and according to her, she is a traveler. Although we look very much alike and are about the same age.”

“But she seems much more mature than I am…”

Artoria pursed her lips.

She was chattering into the horse’s ear.

“Listen to me, Miss Mia is also a mage! A mage like Merlin, sounds amazing, right? And her personality is super good too…”

“Although it is our first meeting, concluding this after not spending much time together seems a bit rash.”

“But it’s true! She is very polite to others and very generous, not like Merlin who always puts on airs.”

Artoria put away the brush, gathered a bundle of hay from the side, and piled it in front of her mount.

She didn’t notice at all that some hay fragments were stuck to her white dress.

No, she probably didn’t care, right?

“Also, also, traveling with Miss Mia are Miss Melina and Mr. Wilden.”

“Mr. Wilden is a knight, firm and reliable, although a bit too taciturn, completely different from the romantic knight Kay-ge wants to be. But I think, an ideal knight should be like that, right?”

Artoria, as if talking to herself, poured out her true feelings to the oblivious animal.

She heard footsteps outside the stable.

Like a child who had done something wrong, she immediately turned around and saw someone outside who was both familiar and somewhat strange.

Familiar because of her appearance, and strange, of course, because they were not yet acquainted.

“Miss Mia? And Miss Melina?!”

She hurriedly brushed the hay fragments off her body in a panic.

“Good evening~”

Mia greeted Artoria.

“Good evening!” Artoria responded with perfect etiquette.

If one were to ignore the dust on the hem of her white dress.

Artoria looked at Mia reservedly.

Had her self-talk just now been overheard?

Gossiping behind someone’s back was undoubtedly against etiquette!

“Still taking care of your horse at night?”

“Yes,” Artoria replied, “After all, a horse cannot grow fat without night grass.”

“Hmm…” Mia examined the white steed behind Artoria.

“I do know that principle, but I have never done such work before.”

“Is that so? Does Miss Mia not rely on horses when traveling?”

Mia smiled and said, “For my part, I do have a mount. But it is a familiar gifted to me by someone else; it doesn’t need to eat, drink, or rest.”

“Mages are truly capable of anything, but even if it is a familiar, please treat it well!”

Artoria said with a serious expression.

“That goes without saying.” Mia nodded and paused, “By the way, do you want to see my horse?”

“May I?” Artoria looked at her with shining eyes.

As a horse familiar, is it like those Spirit Wolves?

Artoria was somewhat expectant.

“Of course!”

Mia agreed readily and then blew the whistle ring.

As the melodious whistle sounded, accompanied by condensing fluorescent light, the horned horse named Torrent appeared beside Mia, its hooves trampling.

This sudden appearance made the white horse behind Artoria jump back in surprise.

“His name is Torrent.” Mia stepped aside slightly.

“It actually has horns… just like a cow.” Artoria exclaimed, looking like she had never seen the world before.

Torrent snorted.

Facing Artoria’s gaze, it seemed to enjoy it.

Artoria wanted to reach out, but then withdrew her hand, looking expectantly at Mia.

“May I…”

“Go ahead and pet it.”

Mia smiled.

The current Artoria was only a fifteen-year-old girl, after all.

Come to think of it…

She had become the older sister again.

And they looked so much alike, Legitimacy +1.

She had to find an opportunity to make her call her “big sister.”

Mia plotted darkly…

Artoria gently stroked Torrent’s furry face; she wanted to touch its horns.

But because she was afraid of Torrent resisting, she didn’t make up her mind.

“By the way,” Artoria withdrew her hand, “What made Miss Mia start traveling?”

“Hmm?” Mia was stunned for a moment.

“Well, this…” She began, feeling a bit helpless.

She had originally intended to explain it to Artoria and Melina in person later.

But she hadn’t expected to be asked this question so soon.

“It’s the same reason as yours.”

“The same reason as mine?” Artoria couldn’t immediately understand.

Then, Mia replied:

“It is to be able to become a qualified king.”
