Elden Ring: Starting as Melina’s Sister
Ch. 114 Gaia: There's something dirty!
Mia ran, looking up at the stars.
In that endless cosmic painting, deep within the mysterious stars.
It seemed there was an inexplicable attraction from within her bloodline.
She wanted to get closer.
Were the village houses high enough?
Obviously not.
What about the mountain in the distance?
It was at least several hundred meters high.
But compared to the starry sky hanging countless light-years away, getting a few hundred meters closer had no meaning at all.
But at least the view from the mountain would be wider.
Mia’s staff flashed, and the next moment she appeared on the top of a hill several thousand meters away.
She could move using teleportation magic anywhere she could see.
Even where she could not see, if she knew the terrain along a straight path by heart, she could teleport just the same.
The girl in black stood upon a rock on the mountaintop, bathed in starlight.
What she saw before her eyes were the trajectories of the stars.
glintstone energy flowed within Mia. As she looked at the distant stars, their trajectories and forms seemed clearly visible.
At this moment, Mia was the first glintstone Sorcerer to see the flowing stars in the countless years since the stars of The Lands Between had been sealed.
For countless years, sorcerers gazing at the sealed stars had tried countless methods to recreate the glory of the past.
glintstone Sorcerers had exhausted all means to study ways of observing the stars in order to see the Primeval.
And now, those methods for seeing the laws of stellar motion among the fixed stars had been taught to Mia by Sellen, a Primeval Sorcerer.
But now, Mia could see the stars even without those magics created specifically for stargazing.
Because the shackles did not exist on Earth.
However, the strength gained from the training she had undergone, risking everything to break those shackles, still remained.
The stargazing magic created to break the seal of the stars was now freely stretching out all the mystery it contained toward the starry sky in this world where no such seal existed.
Perhaps, the Mia of today was even more “closer” to the stars than any sorcerer since the creation of Glintstone Magic in The Lands Between!
She stood on Earth, yet she could feel herself walking toward planets countless light-years away.
Facing north, the girl could clearly see the brightest North Star.
Memories from her past life told her: that was a star 445.3 light-years away.
As her consciousness extended its tentacles into the depths of the starry sky.
That light, that North Star, was no longer as it appeared 445.3 years ago.
Her consciousness had detached from the ground, transforming into a meteor traveling faster than light, soaring through the sea of stars.
She seemed to see the North Star of 444 years ago, the North Star of 443 years ago, the North Star of 442 years ago.
Was time flowing backward? Had she traveled through time?
Could she see the North Star as it was now?
Or perhaps.
Could she go the other way, seeing the North Star of 446 years ago, the North Star of 450 years ago, until, on a cosmic scale of time, she saw the newborn North Star?
The origin of the stars.
Yes, Mia was approaching the Primeval.
Just like Lusat and Azur.
The Primeval Lusat glimpsed in the starry sky was darkness.
The Primeval Azur glimpsed was the destruction of a massive star cluster.
Then, what kind of Primeval could Mia glimpse?
From that Primeval, what could she understand?
The girl was excited, expectant, but only a moment later.
“Have I reached the limit already?”
Mia could no longer see the even more distant past of the stars.
There was already a stinging pain in her soul.
It seemed that depth was the limit she could reach for now, so what about breadth?
She stood in the cosmic sea of stars; the purple-black universe was by no means a terrifying thing to her.
The universe was filled with brilliant colors, infinitely vast, infinitely profound.
The stars streaked past her, and starlight gathered in her sea of consciousness.
Standing on the surface, the magic power contained within her body was increasing exponentially.
The overflowing energy turned into a storm, swirling around her.
But Mia, at this moment, was completely unaware of it.
She saw the galaxy spanning the sky, saw the spiral arms of the galaxy, saw the gorgeous and charming color blocks of the nebula.
That was the truest appearance of the universe, impossible to describe in words.
At that moment, she felt as if she were a star herself; there was no need to deform herself, just by watching the unfettered stars, her consciousness felt as if it had become a member of the stars.
And in the distance of the universe, Mia saw a golden star that could not be ignored.
Shining, attracting her.
That was it, that was the golden star!
It was the very thing that had made her gaze at the starry sky uncontrollably since the beginning.
Mia tried to move closer to that golden star.
But suddenly.
The tentacles of her consciousness were blocked, pulled by some powerful force.
The appearance of the starry sky was constantly receding.
Her consciousness was returning to her body.
She saw the golden planet getting further and further away from her.
“No!”
The stars before her were no longer clear, covered by a layer of white veil.
The starlight was also blocked.
“Who is it?!”
There was some force trying to seal those stars!
No…
It was trying to seal her, to seal the tentacles of her consciousness reaching into the starry sky, preventing her from approaching that golden star!
She resisted, using all her might to resist the energy pulling her back.
The tentacles of her consciousness, carrying magic power, constantly bombarded that silvery-white veil.
But it was desperate and futile.
In the girl’s mind, there were no other thoughts.
She wanted to break through that sudden seal.
She wanted to see that golden star.
