Elden Ring: Starting as Melina’s Sister
Ch. 43 Seemingly endless trees
After the initial excitement, you would find that the scenery in the forest was more monotonous than the plains.
Seemingly endless trees, fallen leaves, bushes…
Made the eyes dazzled from looking at these sights for so long.
The only respite might be the mushrooms and fruits that occasionally appeared by the roadside.
Under Kalé’s guidance, Mia collected them all to serve as rations for the future.
When the sky darkened again.
Mia saw a Spirit Wolf appear on the road ahead; it had originally been scouting in front, but now it had turned back.
Mia recognized that it should be Red.
The girl didn’t know why she could tell the three of them apart, because these three white Spirit Wolves looked indistinguishable from each other.
Perhaps it could still be explained by ‘I am the holder of the Spirit Calling Bell,’ as Mia and these three Spirit Wolves were, to some extent, connected in spirit.
“What’s wrong?”
Red howled once, then turned and ran back toward the front of the road.
Mia took Amia’s reins from Kalé’s hand, gave them a shake, and urged the donkey to closely follow the Spirit Wolf’s figure.
“Hey!” Kalé shouted.
But Amia was running too fast.
By the time he called out, Mia had already left Wilden behind as well.
The donkey chased the wolf along the dirt road, and a moment later, the girl saw the flat grassland in the distance through a gap between the tree trunks.
“Stop—”
Mia shouted.
She slowed down and walked forward step by step.
The view in front of her suddenly opened up.
On the vast and open land, the grassland was tinged with a bright yellow color between green and orange-yellow due to the season and the golden light of the Erdtree.
The grassland undulated with the gentle rise and fall of the terrain, and in the distance, Mia saw a gray ‘patch’ on the grassland.
While the night had not yet completely arrived and the remaining light lingered, Mia clearly recognized that it was a ruin.
It was about a kilometer away from her location.
Turning her head to her left, Mia saw a precipice; it was an almost vertical cliff that abruptly became the end of the grassland.
That precipice was like a huge, natural staircase, with steep cliff walls that were almost perpendicular to the ground.
And in this huge cliff wall, there was only one narrow pass.
With vision much better than in her past life, Mia was able to see a majestic gate towering over the pass.
Stormgate.
After setting off from the Church of Elleh and traveling for five days and four nights, Mia had finally arrived here.
The Lands Between was truly vast.
Mia pulled on Amia’s reins.
She turned her head to look at the ruins in another direction.
Presumably, that was the Gatefront Ruins.
Two white shadows streaked across her line of sight; Lappland and Texas were chasing and playing on the grass.
After all, they were wolves, with the instinct to gallop across the grasslands.
Mia nodded with satisfaction.
These two get along quite well.
Kalé and Wilden also caught up at this moment.
“Whoa.” Kalé exclaimed, looking at the grassland.
Finally, after being dazzled and tormented by the dense trees of the forest, he saw a different kind of scenery.
“Are we going to try to pass through the Stormgate?”
Wilden asked.
“No.”
Mia shook her head: “I need to head south for a bit.”
Wilden nodded.
“If you don’t want to come along…” Mia looked back at him.
The girl still remembered the original agreement, which was to go to Stormveil.
She hadn’t mentioned beforehand that she was going to take a detour.
“It’s fine, I will go to Stormveil with you.”
Wilden said, leaning on his spear.
Mia smiled: “Thanks~”
“What about you?” She looked at Kalé again.
“As for me…” Kalé looked at the Stormgate and pondered.
These past few days, the time spent traveling with the two of them had indeed quite overturned his solitary journey up to now.
If possible, he didn’t want to separate so soon.
Moreover.
Kalé recalled the words Mia said to him when they had just left the Church of Elleh.
‘A Soldier who likes loneliness, even if they find their own home, will only be a home without family.’
“I’ll head south with you guys.” Kalé replied.
“Eh?” Mia was stunned: “Aren’t you going to Liurnia?”
Kalé also smiled: “Before that, I want to go to the Weeping Peninsula first to find my other clansmen. Then we will head north together to search for The Great Caravan.”
“Is that so.” Mia looked at the vast, endless plain to the south.
