Elden Ring: Starting as Melina’s Sister
Ch. 42 Before the Checkpoint
It seems that the summoned Spirit Wolves.
Before Mia actively lets them return, or before they are taken out.
Will continue to exist.
This makes traveling much more convenient.
Early in the morning, the sky was still dim.
A faint mist was still drifting in the forest.
Mia was squatting in front of the three wolves.
I have to give these three guys names.
Mia fretted.
How can dogs not have names?
Especially my own dogs.
“What were your names before?” the girl asked.
Unsurprisingly, there was no answer.
Then it was time to put on her thinking cap.
Looking at the three wolves with different personalities in front of her.
One was the clingiest, liking to rub against people, but it easily pushed people over, and it had a lot of slobber, which could be annoying.
“You’ll be named Lappland.” Mia said, cupping the wolf’s head with both hands.
The other one, although not as clingy as Lappland, was also relatively close to Mia.
It would sit quietly to the side and enjoy being petted.
“You are Texas.” Mia said earnestly.
Finally, there was the wolf with an aloof appearance, lying far away, surveying everything around it with a calm gaze that nothing could move.
“So, you’ll be named Red!” With a clap of her hands, Mia decided on the names for the three Spirit Wolves.
“What are you doing?” Kalé, attracted by the girl’s noise, asked curiously.
“Naming the Spirit Wolves.” As she said this, she reached out.
“Lappland!” Mia pointed with her finger.
“Awoo~” Lappland barked happily.
“Texas!” she pointed to the other one.
Texas turned its head, blinking its eyes, as if asking: What’s wrong?
Finally.
“Red!” Red just twitched its ears.
“Yoshi, yoshi, very smart.” Mia happily squatted down, vigorously rubbing Lappland with one hand and scratching Texas with the other.
Kalé: “You should hurry and send them to Caria; don’t delay their studies!” What kind of wolf remembers its name after hearing it just once!
That’s fake, right?
“This means they share a telepathic connection with me!” Mia said righteously.
After all, they were summoned using the spirit calling bell~ “Awoo~” Mia clapped her hands and stood up.
She wondered if these ones would eat.
“Kalé, give me some jerky.” “You want to feed the wolves?
Forget it.
We don’t even have enough for ourselves, and the cured meat is very salty.” Kalé carefully examined the three Spirit Wolves glowing with white light: “This kind of summoned creature shouldn’t need to eat.” Mia scratched her head.
Thinking to herself, that made sense.
“Dogs shouldn’t eat things that are too salty.” Well, anyway, as long as I don’t restrict their freedom, they should be able to find food on their own.
Assuming they actually need to eat.
“Let’s get ready to leave.” Kalé had already packed his luggage.
Lappland circled around Amia, looking maliciously at the little donkey as it snorted uneasily.
Mia nodded.
She looked at Wilden.
Wilden was trying to repair his greatshield.
The center of the greatshield had been struck twice by that beastman’s greatsword, and it was now deeply dented, the wooden planks broken and splintered, to the point where one could even see through the center of the gap.
Then, Wilden gave up.
He only had some dried vines he’d picked up from the surroundings to use.
If this shield were made of metal, perhaps there might be a possibility of repairing it.
Unfortunately, it was made of wood.
The Soldier finally gave up on the greatshield that had followed him for many years.
He sighed with some regret.
There were fewer and fewer things that could connect him to the memories of the past.
However…
He still had new memories, unlike any before, waiting for him.
Wilden stood up.
“Let’s go.” He replied.
They continued on their way.
“If we’re fast, we should be able to leave the forest by tonight.” After seeing the attacked Royal Army Soldier camp yesterday, the three of them were traveling faster than they had in the previous few days.
Mia had the three Spirit Wolves go ahead to scout the path.
This wasn’t actually a necessary thing to do.
It was just that when the three Spirit Wolves were around, Amia would be too scared to even walk.
Especially Lappland; in just one night of being together, it had learned to take pleasure in scaring Amia.
But since Amia was still carrying Kalé’s luggage on her back, they had to be kept apart.
The three of them and the donkey moved along the dirt path in the forest.
After the threat was resolved, their steps were light and steady.
Having discarded his greatshield, Wilden also reduced his burden somewhat.
The light of the Erdtree cast mottled shadows onto the small path, sometimes bright and sometimes dark.
Mia heard the fallen leaves in the surrounding bushes rustling.
Turning her head, she saw a flash of white fluorescence between the bushes; it was the silhouette of one of the Spirit Wolves running past.
The forest had regained its vitality, and the chirping of a flock of birds could be heard in the distance.
The thin mist that hadn’t yet dissipated in the forest during the early morning brought a fresh breeze filled with the fragrance of plants.
Gradually, the sunlight became stronger.
The Lands Between seemed to have a sun, and there were quite a few legends about the sun, but Mia had never actually seen it.
Even the stars and the moon would only appear for a short while at night.
The small team traveled from morning until noon, and after a short rest, they set off again.
“And If you’re enjoying it, drop a Power Stone for me!”
