Chapter 1595: Chapter 1637: Witness

After leaving Old Master Lei’s place, Grace Yowell called Mrs. Lei’s caregiver, knowing that Mrs. Lei was still at the Hospital, so she drove to the Hospital.

————

In the Hospital, Edward Quinn had noticeably improved in recent days. For him, the most important thing now was to recover well, so that he could have more time to spend with his daughter.

“Mr. Quinn, would you like to go for a walk?” a caregiver asked as they approached. There was a small park within the hospital grounds where patients often walked, rested, or even chatted.

Edward nodded and went downstairs to the small park with the caregiver.

When Edward arrived at the park, he sat on a stone bench, his gaze unintentionally catching sight of an elderly man not far away, dressed in patient attire, sitting in a wheelchair. Beside him was a woman with slightly gray hair, sitting on a stone bench next to the wheelchair. A bag of oranges rested on the nearby stone table, and the woman peeled oranges, feeding them to the man slice by slice, carefully wiping the man’s mouth with tissues afterward.

The man grinned while eating the oranges and said, “Don’t just feed me, you should eat some too. Also, go back soon, don’t stay at the Hospital with me all the time, be careful not to tire yourself out.”

“I’m not tired; I’ve spent most of my life with you, why worry about these few days? The kids are busy with work and spend less time with you; I’ve retired, so I can spend more time with you. Focus on recovering from your illness, and once you’re well, the kids and I can bring you home earlier.” The woman smiled and handed another slice of orange to the man.

The man ate the orange, then sighed, “The most right thing I did in my life was marrying you.”

Watching this scene, a hint of melancholy flashed in Edward Quinn’s eyes. The greatest mistake of his life was misunderstanding Clover, which led to Clover leaving him heartbroken.

Clover… would he ever see her again in this lifetime? Or… was she still alive in this world? If she were alive, why hadn’t she come looking for him all these years? Even when he published a statement in the newspaper announcing he had found his biological daughter, she still didn’t appear.

Or did she resent him so much that she wanted nothing to do with their daughter anymore?

As Edward pondered, a fleeting figure passed before his eyes, jolting him, causing him to stand up abruptly from the bench.

At that moment, he felt as if he had seen Clover’s figure. Was it Clover? Had Clover appeared before him once again?

The caregiver beside him hurriedly asked, “Mr. Quinn, what’s the matter?”

But Edward ignored the caregiver, staggering as he ran toward the departing figure, wanting to grasp it…

Don’t go! Don’t leave, even if it was just that fleeting side view. Although he now saw only a back view, it made his heart race, as if his body’s instinctive intuition was telling him that it was Clover.

Edward thus dashed out, which startled the caregiver, who hurriedly ran over trying to stop him. After all, the person now was a patient, and she heard that this patient had a notable background. If anything happened, as a small-time caregiver, how could she take on such responsibility?
