Elder Kinston's Exclusive Sweet Wife
Chapter 1600: Manipulating the Surveillance
Chapter 1600: Chapter 1642: Manipulating the Surveillance
“Dad, don’t get excited just yet. Did you really see her? Or was it an illusion, or did you just see someone who looked like a younger version of Mom?” Mabel Quinn comforted her father and then probed further.
Was he mistaken? Edward Quinn paused for a moment, then took a deep breath as the scene from yesterday flashed through his mind again. Although it was just a side profile, what he saw wasn’t a younger Clover, but the Clover who was aging with him, along with that heartbeat he felt at the time, that feeling… how could he be mistaken?
Over the years, in his search for Clover, he had seen women who resembled what he imagined Clover to look like, but never had he felt this way.
“I can’t be mistaken!” Edward Quinn said with certainty, “Your mother… I wouldn’t mistake her even in death. The person I saw yesterday, it had to be her. She must have been at this hospital!”
“If Mom indeed appeared, we still can’t be sure if she was a patient or an accompanying person,” Mabel Quinn pondered, “If she was a patient, then we could inform the hospital and check the names, but if she was a companion, it’s impossible to find out, especially considering whether Mom may have changed her name over the years.”
“I’ll notify the hospital to check the list of patients from yesterday; it’s a lead at least,” Kyle Kinston suggested, “Also, Dad, if we just showed you the surveillance footage, would you be confident you could recognize Mom?”
Before Edward Quinn could answer, Mabel Quinn spoke up, “But Kyle, didn’t you say before that there were no surveillance cameras on the road where Dad fainted, and further up, the cameras in the parking lot were conveniently broken?”
“But there are other cameras in the hospital. If Mom really appeared there, then there must be some trace in the surveillance footage from that day,” Kyle Kinston responded. The process, however, would be quite cumbersome, and probably only Edward himself could handle it.
“Yes!” Edward Quinn nodded with great excitement, as if seeing a glimmer of hope. All these years, as long as there was even the slightest chance of finding Clover, he would hold on tightly.
…
Meanwhile, in Mr. Mei’s study at the Mei residence, Mr. Mei held a phone, speaking to the other end, “Has everything been replaced? Make sure there are no flaws, and deal with the matter of the surveillance cameras in the parking lot. Also, erase any footage that shouldn’t exist; there’s no need to keep any backups.”
“Yes, yes, everything is being done according to your instructions; nothing will be left out,” the person on the other end of the phone said respectfully.
After ending the call, Mr. Mei put down the phone and turned his gaze to a photo frame placed to the side. In the frame was a photo of Mrs. Li when she was young.
“Clover, will you blame me?” Mr. Mei murmured softly, “Or was it that you didn’t want to see that man either, and that’s why you missed him yesterday?”
But the person in the photo seemed to only gaze into the distance, not answering his question.
Mr. Mei leaned his body back against the chair, closing his eyes wistfully, as scenes from the past surfaced in his mind. What a regret it was, back then, that he hadn’t met her sooner.
