Mabel Quinn was stunned when she heard the words, “What did you say? Daniel is injured?”

“Yes,” the other party confirmed.

“I… I’ll come over immediately!” Mabel said a bit frantically, and after confirming which hospital it was, she ended the call.

“What happened? Is Daniel injured?” asked Kyle Kinston who was beside her.

Mabel nodded, quickly recounting the phone call to Kyle, and the two got in the car, speeding toward the hospital where Daniel Harris was located.

On the way, Mabel felt uneasy, wondering how severe the injuries mentioned on the phone actually were.

“He’ll be fine.” Kyle’s voice softly echoed in Mabel’s ear, “I’ll find the best medical team; they’ll definitely be able to cure him, so don’t get too worked up.”

Upon hearing this, Mabel turned to look at her husband, “Kyle, Daniel has helped me a lot, so I…”

“You don’t need to explain; I understand,” Kyle said. Although his possessiveness made him jealous, upset, and uncomfortable when she worried about another man, he had learned to control himself. More importantly, he knew she loved him in her heart.

Daniel and Mabel ultimately couldn’t be together.

Mabel felt relieved; she had been worried her husband might misunderstand something.

The car arrived at the hospital, where Daniel was still being rescued in the emergency room. However, from the medical staff, Mabel learned that Daniel was sent to the hospital due to a car accident and was already in a coma during the transfer. Yet, he kept repeating the words “Mabel… badge…”

Therefore, besides contacting Daniel’s parents, they also contacted Mabel.

Compared to Daniel’s parents who were far away in J City, Mabel, located in F City, naturally arrived first.

Upon hearing that Daniel had also mentioned “badge,” Mabel was taken aback, recalling that two days ago, Daniel had called her asking about the badge and said he would tell her once he was certain about something.

The badge… To Mabel, it was a matter from the depths of her memory, now brought up again like this.

What exactly was Daniel trying to say? Why did he need to confirm something about the badge? A series of questions rang in Mabel’s mind, but there were no answers. Only when Daniel woke up could he tell her.

However, when Daniel was wheeled out of the emergency room, Mabel learned from the doctor that Daniel’s car accident injuries were not the most severe issue; the most severe issue was that before the accident, he might have ingested some kind of hallucination-inducing drug. There were traces of this drug in his bloodstream, which could cause hallucinations to the point of confusion, leading to a coma and eventually death. Daniel’s car accident could have been triggered by hallucinations induced by the drug.

Now, the hospital faced the daunting task of removing this drug from his blood; only after removal could he potentially wake up. However, this drug was difficult to eliminate; even a complete blood transfusion might not guarantee its removal as it could seep into human organs through the bloodstream.
