Chapter 1629 - 1671: Tears Shed

  • Next Chapter

Upon seeing Kyle Kinston and Mabel Quinn suddenly appear here, Master Mei was also shocked, especially since Madam Landon was present at the scene!

However, he was somewhat relieved to see that Madam Landon was wearing a black hat today, with a veil that covered half of her face. Besides, at this moment, almost everyone was turning to look at the Kinston couple, but Madam Landon still kept her head down, absorbed in her grief.

Master Mei stepped forward and said, "Mr. Kinston, Mrs. Kinston, what brings you here today?" As far as he knew, neither the Kinston Family nor their in-laws had any business dealings with the Landon Family.

"I’ve long admired the name of the late Mr. Landon. Upon hearing of his passing, I thought I should come to pay my last respects," Kyle Kinston replied.

Mabel Quinn found it strange, for before the incident with Daniel Harris, Kyle had never mentioned the Landon Family, let alone the late Mr. Landon. Yet that morning, he drove her here, saying he wanted to see the old man off.

When she asked why he suddenly wanted to come, he just sighed lightly, "Perhaps it’s a regret that I never met the old man. Back in his prime in the business world, he was quite a formidable figure."

So, she came along with Kyle.

Meanwhile, the staff had already pinned small white flowers onto the chests of Kyle Kinston and Mabel Quinn.

The memorial service then continued, as Grace Yowell stood on the stage delivering a passionate eulogy, her heart filled with unease, continuously wondering why Mabel Quinn and Kyle Kinston were here and what their purpose might be.

Especially when her gaze swept towards Mabel Quinn and Kyle Kinston, and she realized they were looking at her, she nearly read the eulogy wrong.

It wasn’t until she finished and stepped off the stage that she breathed a slight sigh of relief.

In any case, regardless of their reason for being here, she couldn’t allow them to contact Madam Landon, to prevent them from discovering any connection between Madam Landon and Mabel Quinn!

Thinking this, Grace Yowell shielded Madam Landon as soon as she stepped off the stage, blocking Mabel Quinn and Kyle Kinston’s view.

Only, in her panic, Grace Yowell failed to notice that Master Mei was similarly trying to block Mabel Quinn and Kyle Kinston’s line of sight, not wanting them to notice Madam Landon.

Before the body is sent for cremation, there will be a viewing of the remains.

"Shall we go too?" Kyle Kinston said, holding Mabel Quinn’s hand.

Mabel Quinn nodded, not refusing, so the two of them followed behind the guests, slowly walking around the coffin.

Mabel Quinn only saw an old man lying quietly in the coffin, looking serene, as if he were merely asleep.

For some reason, maybe due to the mournful music nearby or the thought of a life just ending, at that moment, Mabel Quinn’s tears uncontrollably welled up and trickled down her cheeks, one drop after another.

The tears came so unexpectedly, even she hadn’t anticipated it.

By the time they finished the round, Mabel Quinn’s face was already covered in tears.

Unexpectedly, Kyle Kinston didn’t ask her why she was crying but instead took out a handkerchief and gently wiped her tears.

Mabel Quinn explained herself, "I don’t know why I cried either, I’m not usually so sentimental."
