Looking again at the Vengeful Saw Axe in his hand, the weapon seemed to possess life, the grip radiating warmth, and he could faintly hear the thumping of a heart, much like the roar of an engine.

After a moment’s hesitation, Bologue slid the Vengeful Saw Axe back into its strap, deciding to draw it only when absolutely necessary.

Continuing upwards, the staircase seemed particularly long, as if endless.

Bologue recalled his team member, to be precise, the new addition to his team.

York, the priest.

After the Raymond Gaudent incident, York mysteriously disappeared from Gray Stone Town, along with his Original Sin Armament, and despite extensive searches conducted by the Order Bureau, no trace of him was found.

Bologue always felt that York was still alive, that he might have been captured by the enemy, along with his Original Sin Armament: Thorn Binding Pain Lock.

Bologue’s pace halted as he followed his previous thoughts. He realized a terrifying possibility he had overlooked.

York was also a champion, a key to awakening the Eyes of Eternal Fury. If he was captured by the enemy, would they use York to awaken the Eyes of Eternal Fury?

Bologue dared not think further; he hadn’t experienced the terror of the Eyes of Eternal Fury, but that did not prevent him from sensing the pure desire for slaughter from Protection·Sacrificial Slaughter.

"Damn it!"

Swearing, Bologue quickened his pace. After resolving the All Secrets Order event, he must find York, even if it’s just his corpse, to recover the Thorn Binding Pain Lock.

The world’s situation grew increasingly severe, with monsters hiding in the shadows eager to stand in the sunlight.

Breaking through another layer of obstacles, Bologue did not encounter another enemy. As expected, even though there were many Condensers from All Secrets Order, only a few could truly participate in combat as High Tier Condensers, not to mention those few who could decide the war’s outcome.

Bologue guessed that the next opponents he would encounter could only be those Dukes at the peak; he felt both nervous and excited. Besides these foes, Holt and Nesanel should also be in this tower.

Kicking open another grand door, thick, scorching smoke rushed forward, suffocating Bologue and almost toppling his body with the heatwave.

What is going on?

With curiosity and caution, Bologue entered the room, thick smoke filling the entire space, severely limiting his vision. Ethereal Perception expanded but failed to detect any other Ether reactions, only chaotic Ether currents.

A strange, sticky sensation came from beneath his feet, like stepping in mud. Bologue lowered his head; the surrounding light was dim, visibility low, yet it didn’t prevent him from seeing the sticky, foul-smelling mess underfoot.

Bologue thought this might be someone’s intestines or perhaps the broken upper body. More specifically, Bologue couldn’t judge, as the corpse was shattered, scorched by high temperatures, like a ripe, rotting tomato.

Overwhelming, condensed stench of decay hit him; Bologue couldn’t help but cover his nose, agitating Ether to disperse the surrounding thick smoke, revealing shocking scenes to his eyes.

The space was filled with ominous silence, suffocating heat waves pervaded, as if a Flame Demon had just strode through here. The walls were scorched black, peeling like decayed bark, emitting a stench of rot and charcoal.

Several corpses stacked together, the flesh fused under high temperatures, bodies twisted, skin charred like burnt wood, the heat and pain forcefully merging them.

As he ventured deeper, the temperature gradually rose, the suffocating environment made it hard for Bologue to breathe, sweat soaking his clothes, skin feeling a burning pain.

Large patches of warm ashes scattered on the ground, slightly stirred with Resentful Bite, revealing some small remnants not completely obliterated... Bologue guessed these might be someone’s teeth; when someone is incinerated, often only these remain.

Looking at the hell-like scene around him, Bologue vaguely guessed what had happened here.

With an apprehensive heart, Bologue headed to the upper floor, discovering a series of footprints etched into the ground.

Someone walked through here with extreme heat, melting the ground, leaving footprints like sculptures. Following these prints, Bologue pursued them up several levels, finally finding the person at an open large door.

Before Bologue could speak, the person said first, "I thought you would be quicker, Bologue."

Hearing that familiar voice, Bologue stepped forward to confirm the other person’s identity.

Even sitting on the steps, his tall figure still exuded a sense of oppression, coupled with the rising heat around him, making Bologue feel like confronting a Demon God from Hell.

"Deputy Director?" Bologue was about to crack a cold joke to lighten the mood, but then his expression grew serious, "Are you... are you alright?"

"Me? I’m fine, won’t die for now."

Nesanel looked down at his chest wound, the horrific penetration still not healed, pure Ether flickering within.

"It’s just, I might not be able to wield power recklessly as before."
