Endless Evolution As A Skeleton In A Game-Like World
Chapter 214: [214] Sunborn (1)
"Attack! Show them the might of the Frost King!"
The tribesmen charged forward, chanting the song of battle as they came down like an avalanche, not an ounce of fear in their eyes.
"You think I would be afraid of you? Of your theatrics?!" Isak screamed. "I am Isak! I fear no man!"
The two forces collided, decorating the snow plains with blood and bodies, scars of scarlet upon the white field, and echoes of pain that reverberated through the very world.
Inquisitor and Sumo charged side by side as they met the first group of tribesmen.
The first man swung his sword with a battle cry, the weapon whistling through the air as it cut through the wind.
It was a clean strike, an attack that would have taken out the heads of most warriors, but to Sumo and Inquisitor, it was sloppy at best.
Sumo swung his axe upward. The weapon crashed into the man’s sword, throwing his arms up, just for Inquisitor to sink his blade into his chest.
Inquisitor slashed out to the side, spreading his bowels onto the floor, then he swiftly swung as another weapon came down from behind him.
Their weapons collided, creating sparks in the foggy haze of snow. Inquisitor dove forward, then rolled on the floor as the sword came down, crashing into the snow.
He lashed out at the man’s shin, but he recovered quickly, the weapons slamming into each other with a clang.
Inquisitor moved back a few steps, and then he surged forward, leaping into the air and bringing the entire force of his blade down with both hands.
BANG!
A miniature shockwave cut through the area, followed by a gust of wind and heat that blew past them.
The man had raised his shield to block, his teeth gritted and legs trembling from the strike.
He tried to push back when suddenly...
Swish!
"What the...?!"
His shield was split in half, just before the sword went through his head, going down and ripping him in half.
Blood bubbled out of his corpse, pooling on the floor and melting the snow, just before the man fell down, forever lost, forgotten in the snow.
Beside Inquisitor, Sumo was locked in a vicious battle with the tribesmen.
Wherever his axe moved, blood followed, and whenever he marked out an opponent, he made sure they were executed unfailingly.
He barrelled right into the midst of two armed tribesmen. The first one had a large mace, while the second trailing behind him bore a broad blade as tall as himself.
"Come to daddy, I’ll burst your head into a thousand pieces!"
He swung the spiked mace, the gleaming weapon charging towards Sumo. It came in an upward arc, brushing the snow as it rushed up towards the underside of his jaw.
Sumo leaned back, and then, to the man’s surprise, he held the mace, the momentum catapulting him right into the sky.
The archers unleashed their arrows at Sumo, but a wave of invisible force blasted into them, shattering them like toothpicks.
Sumo would have laughed if he could, but since he could not, he let the whistle of his dagger announce his descent.
He unhooked it from his belt and threw it right towards the tribesman holding the mace. The dagger sunk into the back of his neck, sending his soul on a trip to the beyond.
And then Sumo came down towards the man holding the broad blade. The tribesman swung the massive blade up with a metallic shrill, hoping to rip him apart on landing.
But Inquisitor pointed his hand at Sumo and multiplied the speed of his descent. Sumo came down with the force of a mountain, and the precision of an executioner.
Axe met sword...
BOOOOOM!
And the sword burst into pieces, just before the axe ate into flesh and bone, turning the man’s body into a mess of torn flesh.
Cleopatra was much lower level than the rest of them, so she could not go all out in a one-on-one fight. Instead, she teamed up with Mountain.
The two of them were a terrible duo, partners whose meeting must have been fashioned in the depths of hell.
Mountain was an immovable shield, a force that could not be defied. With his massive shield, he was able to ward off most attacks, and with his broad blade, he split apart tribesmen like they were weeds.
He was the defence, and Cleopatra, she was offence personified.
She was as violent as a tiger, and as vicious as a wild beast.
She took part in tribal men in the most creative and appalling ways. Daggers to the eyes, fingernails to the throat, swords to the testicles...
Each kill seemed to fuel her madness, and her hunger for blood only multiplied as the battle raged on.
As if she was not bad enough, there was one who was even more wicked, the black ice witch herself.
Ark’s summons clearly radiated his rage, but Jenna took it much too far. She purposely reduced the intensity of her azure flames, all so that she could watch them burn, slowly.
She gave them the heat they all seemed to crave, as well as a taste of hell.
One of the tribesmen managed to sneak up to her from behind, and then, just as she was focusing on another group of warriors, he leaped into the air and slashed at her neck.
Mountain was too far away to defend her, and the support staff she was protecting were not warriors. Getting involved would only get them killed.
"Got you, you witch!"
The sword came flying, and then Jenna glanced at him over her shoulder, her burning black eyes flickering like a candle in a calm breeze.
Schkkkk!
An ice pillar suddenly surged out of the floor, tearing off his head and leaving his body to gush out blood like a faucet.
The head cascaded into the sky and fell towards her.
Jenna caught it, the head freezing the moment her fingers touched it, and then she tucked it underneath her armpit like a trophy as she turned to face the others, ice shards appearing in the air like black stars.
Although Ark’s summons were an impressive force, they were not only outnumbered, they were also lower level than the tribesmen, so they were dying equally as fast as them.
Still, each time one fell, they would rise from the dead, only to join back the battle as good as new.
While Ark’s summons fought the tribesmen, the Sunborns were left to the rest of the party...
