Endless Evolution As A Skeleton In A Game-Like World
Chapter 215: [215] Sunborn (2)
While Ark’s summons clashed with the tribesmen, Thalia and the rest of the party charged from the side towards Olivia and Cici, who were still being held hostage by Isak and his men.
Isak stood at the top of a small snowy hill, the girls tied up behind him as he watched the battle below with an intense gaze.
Ark was sure to get to him soon, but before they fought, Thalia had to make sure she removed all obstacles in his way.
’Sunborns...’ She gritted her teeth as she stared at the ten men standing by his side.
They were clearly far more powerful than the rest of his men, but Thalia had no idea what they were truly capable of.
So there was one way to find out...
The Sunborns noticed their approach before they could even get close, and then they leaped into the air, streaking through the grey sky above...
BOOOM!
The floor in front of them exploded, sending steam fizzling into the air. The cloud of steam cleared, only to reveal the ten Sunborns standing before them, weapons drawn.
The first one, their leader, raised a glaive with a serrated tip, pointing it at their party, while the man next to him carried a hammer with a head the size of a man.
"Stay away from this." Their leader hissed, the blue glow in his eyes intensifying. "I won’t warn you twice."
Rangar was about to speak when Thalia cut in.
"And if we don’t?" Thalia sneered, her eyes narrowing into thin slits. Eerie energy began to seep out of her body, coating her armour like black oil. Dark claws sprang out of her fingers, and her scales seemed to harden like diamonds.
Olivia was one of the first friends Thalia had made in Eden. She would not forgive anyone who laid a hand on her.
"Which one of you did it?!" Her voice boomed over them, chilling even the cold. "Which one of you laid your filthy hands on Olivia?!"
She was breathing out steam with each passing second, her body pulsing with rage, trembling as though her anger was on the verge of erupting.
The leader of their group frowned. "Who do you think you are to make demands of us..."
"Ahaahahah! I like this one!" The man with the hammer licked his lips and placed a hand over their leader’s chest to stop him.
"Olivia? So that was her name... Was it the orange head?" He stepped closer, moving towards a serpent without an ounce of fear in his eyes.
His eyes glowed brighter as he got within striking range.
"If it was her." His voice came out with a level of ecstasy that went on to show just how much he had thoroughly enjoyed himself.
"It was me, Dimitri. I attacked her from the back, stabbed her too with a paralytic... Ahh~ but she was tough. My poison can take out a mammoth, you know?"
He folded his hands across his chest.
"And yet, she resisted. So do you know what I did?"
He must have been insane because he leaned closer, his neck dangerously close to Thalia, his hot, disgusting breath tickling her face.
"I hit her again."
"And again."
"And again..."
"Until she stopped moving."
A malicious grin twisted his face, a smile stretching from ear to ear, eyelids creased from pleasure and heart trembling with ecstasy.
"What are you going to do about it?"
Booom!
Thalia slammed right into Dimitri, and in an instant, both of them were gone, tumbling through the snow as they lashed at each other.
"We won’t let them interrupt Ark! Kill them all!" Thalia heard Rangar roar.
They must have started fighting as well, but right now, Thalia was only focused on one man...
"You bastard! I’ll kill you!"
Just as they were about to stop, she grabbed him and shoved him right into the foot of a hill, sending cracks racing up the hill.
Swish!
Her claws suddenly lashed out, moving so fast that it was impossible to dodge. They exploded into his neck, but instead of ripping out flesh and bone, they screeched against something hard, pulling out chips of metal instead.
Thalia stared at his neck in shock, watching as the pale skin slowly morphed into a deep shade of blue, a smile blossoming on his face.
"What? Not the reaction you expected?"
Boom!
A fist crashed into Thalia’s gut, sending her flying into the sky, but not once did she remove her eyes from him.
The very moment she landed, Dimitri was there waiting for her, his hammer streaking through the sky like a bus.
Thalia met the hammer with her claws...
BANG!
A shockwave cut past them, followed by a heavy gust of wind that washed over everything, creating heat that melted the snow, steam cascading into the sky.
"Yes, yes! I like a feisty woman. It would be even sweeter when I tame you!"
Dimitri shoved Thalia back, and then his hammer came down on her head like a falling tower.
One second, Thalia was right underneath the point of attack, and in the very next second, she was in front of Dimitri.
His eyes widened as he saw her claws blurring through the distance between them.
’How? How is she this fast?!’ He bit the inner part of his cheek, drawing blood.
Booom!
Thalia’s claws sank deeper this time, tearing off more layers upon layers of metal, sparks erupting from the point of impact as she launched him back.
Dimitri rolled several times on the floor, eating more than a few gallons of snow.
But using the momentum, he did a flip in the air. He was still flying back, but he raised his hammer, his eyes locking on the dark blur that had appeared in front of him.
His muscles tensed, his veins popping out of his arms as he brought the weapon down with a force that sent the wind rippling past him.
"At least let me land, you bitch!"
The best thing Thalia could have done was dodge. At least that would have given him enough breathing room to recuperate and check the damage.
But to Dimitri’s surprise, she did not stop.
BOOOOM!
The hammer came down on her right shoulder, completely crushing it.
Thalia did not stop.
Not even an ounce of pain flashed in those magenta eyes.
She reached out for his neck with her good hand, her claws brushing through the deep grooves she had made, her eyes filled with madness.
Dimitri felt his heart grow cold.
He was...
He was really going to die, wasn’t he?
"What the fuck are you guys doing?! Are you just going to let me die?!"
The snow around Thalia suddenly reached out, snatching her out of the air, and then...
Stab!!
Multiple ice spears tore through her back, causing blood to gush out of her chest, mouth and ears as she collapsed to the floor.
Behind her, three other Sunborns stood, staring at her bleeding body, their blue eyes gleaming through the haze of steam that had formed...
