Chapter 716: The Real Battle Choir [Part 1]
The tournament resumed after the break.
The one who won the Orchestra Battle was none other than Faelarun Academy, while the Choir Competition was won by Solara Academy.
It was quite entertaining to watch the academies showcase their musical styles. They significantly varied from each other, highlighting the differences between their cultures.
Just as the sun was about to set, the MC finally announced the finale.
"Do you all still have energy to cheer?!" the MC asked.
"""Yes!"""
"Good! Because a grand battle is still waiting for all of you," the MC declared. "Everyone, are you ready for the Battle Choir?!"
"""Yes!"""
The singing competitions were good, but the true highlight of the musical tournament was the Battle Choir.
An enchantment would be placed on the arena, allowing the power of a person’s song to manifest and give them the ability to attack their opponents as if they were conducting a musical duel.
"Dim Dim?"
The little bun looked at the fairies, who seemed to have lost their liveliness.
"We’re fine," Doh replied.
"Ah... this is going to be a boring match." Reh sighed.
"I hope Alex makes the Battle Choir great again," Mii stated.
"Dim Dim!"
"Um? Of course we believe in Alex. But after hearing his song earlier..." Sue smiled wryly.
Alex’s song was beautiful. Enchanting, even. The fairies even felt like their hearts were being serenaded directly by the young man’s voice.
However, that was all.
Compared to Alex’s usual singing voice, it lacked impact.
It lacked that oomph that they were looking for!
Suddenly, someone walked up to the MC and whispered something in his ear.
"Oh? Such an interesting thing happened?" The MC grinned. "Ladies and gentlemen, it seems that our Battle Choir will be a bit different from the previous Battle Choirs in history."
The MC paused for a bit to let his earlier announcement settle before continuing the rest.
"This year’s Battle Choir is going to be special," the MC declared. "That’s because our newly crowned Singing King has decided to challenge the candidates of both Faelarun and Solara Academy in a two-on-one battle!"
""Whoaaa!""
Gasps spread across the coliseum as people wondered if Alex’s victory in the Singing King competition had made him too confident.
However, most of them still looked forward to this showdown, wondering if he truly had the ability to win against two other singers that would definitely not take his challenge lightly.
"Well then, let me introduce our singers!" the MC said with a smile. "Representing Faelarun Academy, everyone, please welcome... Miss Sylvia!"
A young lady with long silver hair appeared with a smile on her face. Just like all elves, she was a true beauty, making guys from various academies cheer for her in secret.
She confidently walked toward the stage while waving at the audience, earning her cheers and applause.
"And now, let me call our second contestant from Solara Academy." The MC pointed at the second entrance of the coliseum. "Give a round of applause for Mr. Jeanu!"
(A/N: *cough*)
A young man appeared, wearing an interesting set of clothes. It was pure black, and he was even wearing a black hat on his head.
He was also very good-looking, making the girls look at him fondly. He was showered with whistles and cheers, with the guys even applauding him for his get-up.
The two contestants then stood together and smiled at each other.
Although they looked calm on the surface, both of them felt annoyed deep inside. How dare Alex fight them in a two versus one battle?
At first, they wanted to reject his proposal. However, they thought this was a good chance to teach the Singing King some humility.
He might’ve won the Singing King competition, but that didn’t mean he would also do well in the Battle Choir.
Both of them thought that perhaps Frieden Academy had a lack of talent for this kind of musical duel and that they had decided to just let Alex handle it for promotional purposes.
Still, that didn’t change anything. They would still teach him a lesson he would never forget.
"Before I introduce your enemy—errr, competitor, do you have some words to say to Mr. Alex?" the MC asked Jeanu.
"I admit that Mr. Alex is talented," Jeanu replied. "However, Battle Choir is different from Singing King. I’ll make sure to teach him what it means to have humility."
"Ohhh! It seems that Mr. Jeanu is raring to go!" The MC fanned the competing candidates’ sense of rivalry, making the crowds cheer in return. "How about you, Miss Silvia? Do you have any words for Mr. Alex?"
"I respect Mr. Alex, but I won’t hold back against him," Sylvia stated. "Perhaps after this battle is over, he will understand what it means not to bite off more than he can chew."
"I can feel the heat rising here in the arena!" the MC chuckled. "Looks like Mr. Alex has to do his best or he will be taught a very painful and memorable lesson by these two!
"Well then, without further delay, let me introduce the Singing King of Frieden Academy... let’s give a big round of applause for... Mr. Alex Stratos!"
The coliseum dimmed a bit as the spotlight focused on the entrance. From there, a young man gradually emerged from the dark.
Alex was still wearing the same clothes he wore for the Singing King competition, but this time, he didn’t enter alone.
He was actually riding on a white horse!
The guys immediately felt a deep hatred for him after that, so instead of cheers, they gave him boos instead!
However, the sheer impact of his appearance made the girls go wild, and their cheers completely drowned the boos coming from the boys. The MC chuckled, amused by how the staff really went all out to present Alex in a different light.
For his part, Alex guided the horse toward the arena while waving at everyone like he was some kind of royal prince about to give a speech to his people.
The horse stopped a few meters from the staircase that led to the arena. After that, Alex gave it a gentle pat on the neck, thanking it for accompanying him to the stage.
Without an ounce of hesitation, the young man walked up the stairs and stood on the stage, on the other side of which his two competitors waited for him.
The real Battle Choir was finally about to start, and this battle would go down in the history of the Kingdom of Faelarun as one of the most memorable Battle Choirs since its conception.
