CHAPTER 154: ZENITH HORIZON

A kilometer away from the battlefield, prone atop the roof of a two-story building, a sniper pulled back the rifle’s bolt which kicked out the spent casing. The shooter then, slowly readjusted her aim.

Silver wisps of light began to rise around Rose, her small figure lost within the radiance as she lay prone, and her eyes fixed through the scope of her soul weapon.

It had taken her Order Imprint, and all of her titles, to raise her Mind stat to a new high, just barely enough to reach Elena and send a message.

The instant she did, she didn't hesitate to bring the system shop before her. She ignored the endless lists of items of all kinds, and focused on a single section.

[CLASS TAILORED ITEMS (UNIQUE)]

The moment she focused on this section, a new list of five items appeared before her.

Her eyes instantly fell on what she needed.

Even with her rampage and that of her minions tonight, her coins barely passed the three-thousand mark. But Rose didn't even hesitate for a moment to make her purchase.

With a flash of silver light that complemented the wisps rising around her, a sleek half-meter-long bullet appeared before her, its entire surface covered in intricate runes.

Rose raised a palm, prompting the bullet to fall into her grasp. Then, as if the item weighed nothing, she loaded it into her sniper rifle and aimed once again.

Her brows furrowed for a moment when she saw Elena ignore her words and instead confront the boar. But soon, her irritation turned into surprise as she witnessed the shocking might the former student council president displayed.

Still, she reined in her shock after a moment and focused, her breathing slowing with every second.

'Not enough.'

The two words barely formed in her mind as she fell deeper and deeper into the special state.

By now, twenty breaths had passed since she started charging her attack, her mana pooling out from her and into her soul weapon, the intricate markings on the sniper rifle lighting up with an increasingly pink glow.

Fifty seconds had now passed, the weapon in her hand already glowing with a pink light that illuminated the darkness around her.

But she still was not satisfied. By now, her slowly beating heart had already come to a still, her pink-glowing eyes becoming increasingly vacant.

It wasn't until the second minute that another message appeared before her.

[Congratulations! You have reached an unprecedented depth within the Sniper State]

[The piercing power of your next attack is increased by 100%]

The bullet, already imbued with the effect of her Legendary-rank soul weapon, seemed to hum with newfound power within the barrel.

Surrounded by floating wisps of silver light, with a pink glow clasped in her hands, Rose's small mouth parted, pink mist erupting out from the sides of her lips, as she whispered:

"... Headshot."

She pulled the trigger.

The boar didn't even sense its natural instincts react. No, it was more apt to say its instincts didn't even have the time to surface before the danger passed.

A pink light streaked silently through the skies, faster than any shooting star. It passed a mere inch beside Elena's left ear before it penetrated the boar's skull, passing unrestrainedly as it seemed to teleport to the battlefield far in the distance, killing more than twenty abominations in its line of path before finally vanishing into the horizon.

No one had been able to pick up on the attack, as the pink blur seemed to disappear even before it could manifest.

The boar's eyes were still glinting with a light of struggle as it glared at Elena floating before its eyes, only for it to stiffen in the next moment, its eyes instantly going dull.

It would have toppled down under its own weight if not for Elena's telekinesis that held it in place.

It wasn't until Rose's voice resounded within her mind once again that Elena fell to the ground unconscious, the massive beast following soon after.

It was deader than dead.

Far away, Rose fell face-first on the roof, the magical light around her slowly disappearing.

That one attack had drained her of all her regained mana, and even though she leveled up eight times, topping her mana back to the peak, the mental strain she felt still lingered.

Her breathing slowly came back to normal, her hands trembling around the grip of her weapon. The dimness of her black as night eyes slowly brightened, and her pink lips that had lost all its color, was gradually regaining their usual glow.

Though, that would take some time. Time, she wasn't sure her brother and Alice had.
