Chapter 439: Chapter 263: Success (2)
Seeing this, Qing’Er and Yu’Er immediately gave chase. They knew that if they let the green-robed middle-aged man escape, retrieving the *Soldier God Technique* would be next to impossible.
Therefore, they couldn’t let him get away, no matter the cost.
However, the green-robed middle-aged man was extremely fast. In the blink of an eye, he was out of the secret chamber and had vanished down the corridor.
Although Qing’Er and Yu’Er chased with all their might, they couldn’t close the distance.
After the three of them had left, Fang Yue revealed himself from his hiding spot. He smiled faintly, a mocking expression on his face.
The *Soldier God Technique*’s Secret Manual was merely a vessel for the Divine Will. Once the Divine Will was consumed, the manual itself would become nothing more than a pile of useless paper.
This was why Fang Yue had dared to let the green-robed man and the two sisters, Qing’Er and Yu’Er, fight over it.
He knew full well that no matter who ended up with the *Soldier God Technique*, it would be nothing but a hollow victory.
Fang Yue could have simply walked away, but he didn’t. Instead, he stayed to watch the show, which also served as revenge for the two women framing him earlier.
Now that he had obtained the inheritance of the Divine Will, all these conflicts had nothing to do with him anymore.
He turned to leave this place of strife, but just as he was about to step out of the secret chamber, a sudden alarm blared in his mind. A powerful sense of crisis washed over him.
Almost instinctively, Fang Yue’s figure flashed as he quickly dodged to the other side of the secret chamber.
The instant he moved, a sharp blast of Sword Qi whistled past where he had been standing, striking the stone wall and leaving a deep gash.
"Oh? You actually dodged it?"
A soft cry of surprise rang out. Following it, a figure walked in from the entrance of the secret chamber. It was none other than the green-robed middle-aged man who had left earlier.
His expression was grim as his gaze swept around the chamber, finally landing on Fang Yue.
"Kid, you were spying on us the whole time, weren’t you?" the green-robed middle-aged man said coldly.
’I can’t believe this man’s senses are so sharp,’ Fang Yue thought, startled. ’I did my best to conceal my aura, but he still found me.’
However, his expression remained impassive as he said lightly, "I don’t know what you’re talking about."
"Hmph, still trying to deny it!" the green-robed man snorted. "I sensed another presence here just now. Who else could it be but you?"
With that, his body blurred, and he rushed toward Fang Yue.
Seeing this, Fang Yue knew he couldn’t dodge. He had no choice but to meet the attack head-on.
He channeled the Primordial Qi in his body and threw a punch to meet the charge.
BANG!
A muffled thud echoed as their fists collided violently.
The green-robed man felt a surge of immense power from his opponent’s fist, making his arm tingle with numbness.
Meanwhile, Fang Yue used the recoil to flash back several meters.
"Not bad, kid! You’ve got some skill!" A flicker of surprise flashed in the man’s eyes. "But you’re still going to die today!"
With that, his figure flickered, and he charged at Fang Yue once more.
This time, his assault was even more ferocious, each strike of his sword brimming with potent killing intent.
This time, the green-robed man’s assault was more ferocious than before. Every sword strike carried a resolute killing intent, as if he wouldn’t rest until Fang Yue was dead. Sword Qi flew in every direction, filling the entire secret chamber with a murderous aura.
Fang Yue’s expression grew solemn. He knew this battle was now unavoidable. Taking a deep breath, he decided to stop holding back.
He instantly activated his Dark Radiant Vajra Body. His entire frame began to shimmer with flecks of gold, as if he were a golden Buddha descending to the mortal realm, radiating an aura of inviolable majesty.
Seeing this, a look of shock and suspicion flashed in the green-robed man’s eyes. He could feel that Fang Yue’s aura had undergone a world-altering transformation, becoming as imposing as a towering mountain that inspired both awe and fear.
"What... What is this Cultivation Technique?" the green-robed man stammered in shock.
He had never seen such a bizarre Cultivation Technique, one that could elevate a person’s aura to such a terrifying degree. However, he didn’t shrink back. Instead, his will to fight burned even brighter.
"Hmph, I don’t care what Cultivation Technique you’re using. You die here today!"
The green-robed man let out a low shout and swung his Longsword. A blade of Sword Qi, several meters long, instantly formed and shot whistling toward Fang Yue.
Yet, faced with this sharp attack, Fang Yue’s expression remained unchanged. With a casual wave of his arm, he shattered the blade of Sword Qi.
"This..." The green-robed man was stunned. "How is this possible?"
He couldn’t believe his eyes. Fang Yue had neutralized his attack so easily. However, an even greater shock was yet to come.
Fang Yue’s figure flashed and vanished. The next instant, he appeared behind the green-robed man, a fist hurtling toward his back.
The green-robed man only had time to start turning before Fang Yue’s fist slammed into him.
BANG!
With a loud crash, the man was sent flying as if struck by a mountain, slamming heavily against the chamber’s stone wall.
A mouthful of fresh blood sprayed from the green-robed man’s mouth, and his face instantly turned deathly pale. He stared at Fang Yue in terror, as if looking at a monster.
"Who... Who are you?" the green-robed man asked, his voice trembling.
Fang Yue didn’t answer, merely staring at him coldly as if looking at a dead man.
The green-robed man knew there was no escape for him today. He struggled to his feet, trying to flee, but it was already too late.
Fang Yue’s figure flashed, appearing before him and driving a fist into his chest.
BANG!
Another loud thud rang out. The green-robed man’s chest caved in, and his life force dissipated.
A master of his generation had fallen.
Fang Yue retracted his fist, glanced dispassionately at the green-robed man’s corpse, and then turned and left the secret chamber.

「Ten days later. Gongzhou Prefecture, the Observatory.」
"I heard we’re getting a new Director, but apparently he’s not from one of the Five Surnames and Seven Hopes."
Inside the Gongzhou Prefecture Observatory, a group of officials was gossiping, their conversation revolving around the new Director.
This new Director had a mysterious background and wasn’t from the traditional Five Surnames and Seven Hopes, which had undoubtedly caused quite a stir in the Observatory, an institution that had always valued bloodlines and lineage.
"Hmph, someone not from the Five Surnames and Seven Hopes dares to become a Director at the Observatory?" a senior official snorted. "He probably doesn’t know his place."
"You can’t really say that,"
another, middle-aged official said. "I heard he’s the one who exposed the criminals hiding within our Gongzhou Prefecture Observatory. That’s why the higher-ups specifically sent him here as Director, to straighten out our discipline."
He paused, then continued, "And what’s more, I heard that before coming here, he was stationed in Guangfeng Prefecture and even fought against masters from the Blood Dragon Platform."
"Oh? Is that so?"
The older official frowned slightly, starting to take the new Director’s capabilities a little more seriously.
As officials of the Observatory, they naturally knew the severity of the Blood Dragon Platform turmoil. To survive an attack from one of its masters was enough to prove the man had some decent skill.
Of course, just decent, and nothing more.
In their eyes, a young Director with a low cultivation level was just too green to be reliable.
Besides, because of his report, their Gongzhou Prefecture Observatory had been thoroughly disgraced, and their salaries and benefits for the next three years had been slashed to the bare minimum.
Therefore, these Observatory officials had no favorable impression of the new Director; some even harbored a degree of hostility.
However, none of these feelings were expressed openly. After all, the new Director was appointed by their superiors, and they couldn’t afford to offend him directly.
So, even though Fang Yue had yet to meet any of them, it didn’t stop him from becoming a thorn in some of their sides.
