Eternal Thief
Chapter 1725: Aftermath & Result of Evernight Trial (1)
As the Realmbreaker Conquest Ark’s gate opened, the Evernight Fiend King glanced at the Evernight Demon King and asked through spirit transmission, "Nothing happened..."
The Evernight Demon King’s eyes flickered with uncertainty as she knew what the Evernight Fiend King was implying.
They had left the Undead Cradle in a hurry, and even though whatever power had made the Abyssal Ordeal might have tried to keep them there, it might be difficult to leave the secret realm.
However, nothing happened, not even the slightest hiccup, as they returned just as easily as they entered, and there was no profound power or obstruction, or even changes in the chaotic space when they returned.
However, it didn’t reveal the Evernight Kings; instead, it made them more wary and uneasy. If they had encountered some sort of obstruction and had to fight their way back, they would’ve been more at ease, but the lack of it made things worse.
The Evernight Demon King finally spoke in a stern tone, "We can’t let our guard down. But since we are already inside the Evernight Sanctuary, even if something unknown had infiltrated the ark, it won’t be able to run rampant here.
"First, we need to make sure to check every person who is present in the ark, without any expectation. If we find something out of the ordinary, we’ll get rid of them without question. We also need to isolate this ark!"
The Evernight Fiend King agreed with the Evernight Demon King’s proposal because the Undead Cradle had rattled him to the core, even more than when he failed to breach the Undead Boundary.
He didn’t dare to take this lightly and decided to take every possible precaution because it concerned the safety of the Evernight Sanctuary.
The Evernight Fiend King then glanced at the Midnight Duke and coldly ordered, "Pass my order to everyone; no one is to leave the ark, not even you or other Evernight Dukes. Not until we make sure none of you are under some unknown influence!"
The Midnight Duke was shocked before he went slightly pale as he quickly guessed what the Evernight Fiend King was implying. He had personally witnessed the anomaly of the Abyssal Ordeal, and seen how even the Evernight Kings feared it.
So, if that anomaly were really caused by some unknown entity within the Undead Cradle, then such an entity could do anything to anyone.
Moreover, Midnight Duke’s thoughts were different than the Evernight Kings, as he thought the Undead Cradle might be an opportunity to safely break through into the Abyssal King Realm since that phenomenon might be a unique and unheard abyss-defying function of the secret realm.
But the Evernight Kings didn’t seem to think it like that at all, and Midnight Duke dared not mention his thoughts because the world the Evernight Kings saw was completely different and beyond anything a Half-Abyssal King like him could ever imagine.
Not to mention, if there were really some unknown and nefarious power at work, then Midnight Duke didn’t dare to risk his life for a hollow breakthrough and even offend the Evernight Kings.
"I’ll make sure of it, Your Majesty!" He quickly pledged without hesitation.
The Evernight Fiend King merely nodded before he and the Evernight Demon King vanished towards the opened outer gateway using their movement techniques instead of space law.
The Realmbreaker Conquest Ark had a built-in space sealing formation that could even seal the space law of the Abyssal Kings.
Although creating this formation was extremely expensive, without it, the Evernight Council could easily break into the ark and wreak havoc if they invaded a secret realm with an Abyssal King.
Once the Evernight Kings were gone, the Midnight Duke could break in easily, and he quickly closed the outer gateway while relying on the Evernight Fiend King’s order to the Evernight Dukes and Evernight Marquises.
As for others, the Evernight Marquises were enough to keep everyone in check; not to mention, this was the Evernight Sanctuary. No one would be bold enough to cause trouble here.
Especially those trial participants who were only here because of the anomaly of the Undead Cradle. If the trial had gone as the Evernight Council planned, then all the non-affiliated participants would’ve been purged, while those who were a waste of space within the Evernight Council would’ve been cleanly dealt with.
However, now, not only had all the riffraff entered the Evernight Sanctuary, but many of the geniuses who were supposed to be protected and marked for future nurturement had died.
In the end, not only did this Evernight Trial end up being the biggest Evernight Trial ever held, but even calling this Evernight Trial the worst in the history of the Evernight Council wouldn’t be an exaggeration.
Moreover, once those participants got out and revealed what happened within the Undead Cradle, the Evernight Council’s flawless reputation would suffer a huge blow.
That’s why not only did the Evernight Council have to make sure they hadn’t brought anything dangerous from the Undead Cradle, but also how to remove all that information from the participants’ minds.
At this moment, separated from the trial participants where Ace was located, separated from the Evernight Sanctuary’s members, the four Evernight Dukes were sitting in a large hall.
Moreover, together with the Evernight Dukes were their respective disciples who had all survived the Undead Cradle.
Evernight Duchess sat upright, silent, and beside her was Eva.
The gloomy Yin Duchess wasn’t far, with her two disciples, the devil twins, Xue Yin and Xue Han.
The Enchantress Demon Duchess seemed to be more relaxed while happily stroking the three Abyssal Succubi, Lucy, Lilly, and Lavender’s silky hair.
Lastly, the Corpse Duke sat like a listless corpse, and beside him were two cloaked figures emanating an extremely cold, death-filled aura. They were Corpse Duke’s disciples, Corse and Carrion!
The atmosphere seemed strange, as no one was talking, but the subtle fluctuations in the air made it clear that each Duke was using spirit transmission to talk with their respective disciples.
Right at this moment, the door of the hall slid open, drawing everyone’s attention. Thereafter, the Midnight Duke entered, surrounded by a gloomy and solemn air!
