Every Sentinel I Dreamed of Came Looking for Me
Chapter 233: That Sly Man, Actually Seducing
Chapter 233: Chapter 233: That Sly Man, Actually Seducing
"Where’s Yun Sheng? Isn’t she with you?"
Si Jin shot Bai Ye a cold glare and ignored him.
The aura around him was unstable. His blade, shrouded in spiritual power, vibrated without any wind, exuding an imposing pressure.
The gray-clothed men besieging him noticed Bai Ye’s arrival and quickly split into two groups.
One group continued to attack Si Jin, while the other abruptly changed direction and charged toward Bai Ye.
Bai Ye’s brows furrowed slightly. He sensed something strange about these men’s auras.
Their eyes were bloodshot, muscles bulging, and veins popping, as if their potential had been forcibly unlocked by something. Yet, they also resembled Dark Sentinels, their spiritual power running rampant, leaving them with only the instinct to kill.
He kicked the gray-clothed man at the very front, sending him flying.
The man crashed through a large tree, but after struggling on the ground for a moment, he staggered back to his feet and lunged at him again, as if he felt no pain.
"They’ve all been injected with an induction agent. Their state is similar to a Dark Sentinel’s. No, it’s even more frenzied. You have to completely destroy their spiritual landscape to stop them!"
Si Jin’s voice, hoarse yet severe, came from behind.
’These gray-clothed men are even stronger than the ones I encountered on the Capital Star. The mastermind behind this must have improved the induction agent, making it more potent.’
’They’re like modified killing machines. If you don’t completely destroy their spiritual landscape, they won’t stop.’
Bai Ye’s brow tightened further.
The SSS-level Sentinel’s spiritual power formed an invisible blade that pierced one man’s forehead. The power detonated within his spiritual landscape, and the man finally collapsed, never to rise again.
"Where is Yun Sheng? Is she safe?" His voice grew a few shades deeper, and the glow of the spiritual power gathering on his blade intensified.
Si Jin glanced at him, parrying a lunging attacker with his blade, and said in a low voice, "My spiritual body is with Yun Sheng. Xing Che is there too. She should be fine."
Then, he added, "But just in case, let’s team up. We need to finish these guys quickly and find Yun Sheng."
Bai Ye didn’t say anything more, just gave a slight nod.
Positioned to the left and right, the two of them charged the gray-clothed men, their blades and spiritual power weaving a deadly dance.
One the current War God, the other a former War God. Even though the gray-clothed men were numerous and fearless, they were steadily beaten back by their combined assault.
Bai Ye’s blade moved faster and faster, and Si Jin’s spiritual power grew ever sharper. Though neither looked at the other, they coordinated with the tacit understanding of two who had fought together countless times.
One by one, the gray-clothed men fell, and the thick scent of blood filled the forest.
With a flash of a blade, the last gray-clothed man was wounded by Bai Ye and Si Jin’s joint attack. He crashed heavily to the ground, spitting out a mouthful of blood, unable to get back up.
He hadn’t been injected with the induction agent. His eyes were still clear as he leaned against a tree trunk, a strange smile on his lips.
"You think this is over?" he gasped, his voice hoarse but tinged with smugness. "Our people went after that Yun Sheng long ago. We were just here to stall you. HAHAHA, she’s probably already been captured by now. Neither of you will be able to save her!"
Si Jin’s gaze turned glacial. Terrifying spiritual power gathered on his blade as he took a step toward the man.
Bai Ye put out a hand to stop him, his voice grave. "Leave him alive."
"Alive?" Si Jin sneered, his gaze sharp and cold as he stared at Bai Ye. "Fine. You can interrogate him. I’m going to save Yun Sheng. You can stay here and continue fulfilling your duties as the Star Alliance’s current War God."
He turned to leave as soon as he finished speaking.
Bai Ye’s pupils contracted sharply. He struck the back of the man’s neck with his blade, the force precisely controlled, knocking him unconscious.
He quickly pulled a communicator from his pocket and sent a message to Luo Cheng, informing him of the situation and telling him to bring people to take custody of the prisoner.
After doing all this, he looked up at Si Jin, his voice as cold as ice.
"I have my duties, but I would never stand by and watch Yun Sheng be in danger."
’That time in the canyon, when Xing Che took Yun Sheng away, so many contaminants had been closing in. Bai Ye had stayed behind to protect Yun Sheng’s team, sending only his White Tiger after her.’
’He often thought about it afterward, recalling his hesitation, his failure to give chase.’
’He never wanted to experience that feeling again. He would absolutely never make the same mistake twice!’
Si Jin looked at him but said nothing more. He turned and shot off toward the northwest.
He could sense the Abyssal Giant Wolf was there.
Bai Ye followed close behind. One after the other, they moved at incredible speed.
When they arrived, they saw only the Abyssal Giant Wolf—covered in blood, its body riddled with wounds—as it held a group of gray-clothed men at bay.
It was clearly exhausted. Its movements had slowed, and the blue flames wreathing its body had dimmed considerably.
Just then, it seemed to sense Si Jin’s presence. It whipped its head around, its ghostly blue eyes locking onto him, and a low whimper escaped its throat.
The sound held a note of grievance and urgency, as if to say: ’What took you so long?’
Si Jin’s expression changed instantly. He and Bai Ye struck at the same time.
Attacking from the left and right, they plunged into the group of gray-clothed men. Before the men could even react, they were cut down and sent flying, one after another.
A moment later, all dozen or so gray-clothed men were down, and silence fell over the forest.
Si Jin sheathed his blade and walked over to the Abyssal Giant Wolf, placing a hand on its blood-streaked head.
The giant wolf nuzzled his palm, a low growl rumbling in its throat as if it was urgently trying to tell him something.
Si Jin’s frown deepened. After a moment, his face darkened, and he said, "Are you saying Xing Che was hit with an induction agent, and he took Yun Sheng with him?"
The Abyssal Giant Wolf let out a low whine and hung its head as if in self-reproach.
Bai Ye’s expression grew grim as well.
He and Si Jin exchanged a look, their eyes as dark and heavy as if they were filled with ink.
Si Jin closed his eyes, spreading his spiritual power wide to track the residual auras of Xing Che and Yun Sheng.
Meanwhile, Bai Ye took out his terminal, pulled up a holographic map of Zone 10, and began rapidly scanning the area for life signs.
Neither man spoke, but their actions were surprisingly in sync, driven by the same urgent need: they had to find Yun Sheng as fast as possible!
...
In the cave, Xing Che suddenly reached up and began to unbutton his shirt.
His movements were slow, deliberately so, as if to imbue each motion with an indescribable, bewitching quality.
His long, slender fingers moved down from his collar. One button, then a second, a third...
Soon, all the buttons were undone. The shirt fell open, revealing a lean chest and sharply defined abdominal muscles.
Below Xing Che’s collarbone was a faint old scar that ran from his shoulder to his chest. Far from detracting from his appeal, it added a wild and dangerous air to him.
Yun Sheng watched him, not reacting at first. After a long moment, she asked in confusion, "What are you doing?"
Xing Che looked at her, his amber-gold eyes swimming with a gentle smile. His voice was low, tinged with a lazy hoarseness.
"I’m hot." He paused, his gaze landing on Yun Sheng’s face. The corner of his mouth curved into a half-smile. "Do you like what you see?"
