Chapter 309: Chapter 156: The Greatest Gaming Experience in History

This woman was no pushover. She was an expert at teasing him, making his heart pound while keeping him from getting a taste.

[Sigh... are you guys going to play or not? If not, I’m hanging up. What’s the point of this video call anyway?]

Su Ran was fuming.

He could only watch Liu Jinyu on the screen; he couldn’t just Flash over to her.

Meanwhile, in the small building across the way, Shan Weizi was having a heart-to-heart with her grand-aunt and Sister Piaopiao.

Su Ran was all by himself.

He’d barely managed to stabilize his resolve with a cold shower when his sharp ears picked up the conversation from the other building—something about ’you’re a 36D just like your mom,’ ’your body is amazing,’ and what have you.

Then he opened the group chat and saw the three women taking risqué photos of themselves, comparing who was bigger.

In his private messages, Liu Jinyu was at it again, showing off her long legs and a skirt with lace cutouts.

’How was anyone supposed to get any sleep?’

This was truly a case of Refining Heart in Mortal World, and his resolve was failing. How could a hot-blooded young man like him possibly withstand such torture?

Liu Jinyu chuckled. [Alright, alright, I’ll stop teasing you. I’m going to play my game now, bye-bye.]

Su Ran put down his phone, walked over to the window, and pushed it open. He shouted toward the small building opposite his. "Hey, you three beauties over there! Can you keep it down? You’re chatting so loudly I can’t sleep."

The Shan Family’s Peach Blossom Nunnery was a typical classical garden from Hangzhou, vast and filled with winding corridors, only slightly smaller than the neighboring Guozhuang Village.

CREAK~

The window on the opposite building opened.

Shan Weizi stood by her window in her sleepwear, looking at Su Ran across the way. Their eyes met, each seeing only the other, and they exchanged a smile.

"Can’t sleep?" Shan Weizi asked, though she knew full well he couldn’t. They had finally managed to meet, and now he was all alone for the night; of course he couldn’t sleep.

"You all were too loud. You woke me up."

The two quaint, antique buildings were separated by a wall. When the wind blew, it stirred the bells hanging from the curved eaves, making them chime with a clear, crisp TINKLE.

The Ancient Beauty across the way was wearing an exquisite traditional bodice underneath a thin, loose robe draped over her delicate shoulders. She hugged the robe tightly to her chest, looked at Su Ran, and said with a smile, "So we woke you? How about I find you another courtyard? You can sleep in the West Courtyard for the night. It’s peaceful over there."

Su Ran glanced in the direction of the West Courtyard. It was on the other side of the rockery and winding corridor.

"It’s too far. I’m not going. I’ll be scared all by myself."

"Heh heh..."

The other two women in the room chuckled before appearing on either side of Shan Weizi. While they wore similar attire, they were wrapped up securely. Shan Weizi could face Su Ran so casually, but the other two—one her grand-aunt, Lou Shishi, and the other his potential mother-in-law, Sister Piaopiao—certainly couldn’t.

Lou Shishi pointed at Su Ran across the way and teased, "Su Ran, are you, a grown man, playing pitiful? Are you trying to get Shan Weizi to go keep you company? Tonight, she’s keeping me, her grand-aunt, company. She doesn’t have time for you."

Liu Piaopiao put on a serious face. "Little Ranran, are you being disobedient now!"

Su Ran let out a deliberately sorrowful sigh. "Sigh... I had prepared so many sweet nothings to whisper to Weizi. Looks like I won’t get the chance tonight. Maybe tomorrow night, then."

Lou Shishi laughed. "What sweet nothings? Let’s hear them. Piaopiao and I can help Weizi judge if they’re too cheesy or not."

The three women were actually very lively and weren’t too bound by the constraints of seniority.

Shan Weizi added, "Go on and recite it, Su Ran. Don’t tell me you’re shy, hehehe..."

The women’s melodious laughter echoed through the quaint courtyard.

At the window of the small building, the three women in their distinct, ancient-style attire were the most beautiful highlight of the entire portrait-like scene.

"What’s there to be shy about? Listen up. Ahem..." Su Ran cleared his throat, looked at the three women in the building across from him, and began to recite a provocative poem:

"A broken halberd, buried in the sand, its metal yet to decay,

I rub it clean and recognize a relic of a former dynasty.

Had the east wind not granted Zhou Yu its favor,

The Qiao sisters would have been locked deep in the Bronze Bird Terrace in spring."

Lou Shishi glanced at the building, then mulled over the poem. It was actually quite clever. She put on a stern face and said, "I told you something was off about Su Ran, and you didn’t believe me! Listen to what he’s reciting! ’Locked deep in the Bronze Bird Terrace’... You damned Cao the Traitor!"

Whoa!

Liu Piaopiao planted her hands on her hips and scolded, "Little Ranran, you’re getting audacious! Believe it or not, I could come over there right now and kick the stuffing out of you."

Su Ran replied plaintively, "Sister Piaopiao, can’t you be a little more gentle? If you torture me to death, your daughter will be heartbroken for the rest of her life."

"Oh, stop being such a smart-mouth," Shan Weizi said. "That one doesn’t count. No more mischief. Recite another poem, one that praises the three of us."

"Let me think..." Su Ran gazed at the moon, tapping his fingers on the windowsill. After a moment of contemplation, he said, "I’ve got it."

For *Lou Shishi* a tower, a flower so *wee*,

For *Liu Piaopiao* a willow, floating to thee.

Next year I’ll *pray* to have you near,

And that’s my feeling, oh so clear.

PFFT—

Liu Piaopiao burst out laughing, the full, alluring charm of a mature woman on display. She shot him a look that was equal parts amused and annoyed. "Little Ranran, what kind of terrible poem is that? It doesn’t even flow."

Lou Shishi said, "Piaopiao, didn’t you catch it? He just crammed our names in there! The first line has ’Lou Shishi’, and the second line has ’Liu Piaopiao’. He just forced them in."

"Oh!" Liu Piaopiao’s eyes lit up. "He really did!~ Little Ranran, you’re more clever than you look. Even if the poem is complete nonsense, it’s not bad. He put my name in it, so I like it. But then, what did you mean by that third line... ’Next year I’ll *pay* to have you near’?!?!"

Su Ran said, "Hey now, Sister Piaopiao, what are you thinking? I said *pray*, not *pay*! Like, P-R-A-Y! Didn’t the second line say a willow floats to you? It means I’ll be *praying* to be near you again next year."

"Couldn’t you have picked a different word? You just had to use one that sounds like that. You’ve got a dirty mind, kid." Liu Piaopiao bit her lip, really wanting to grab a high-heeled shoe, rush over, and pin him to the floor for a proper lesson. "By the way, why isn’t Weizi’s name in it?"
