Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress
Chapter 772: Land of Origin Opens
However, that thought did not last long.
There was something else on her mind.
Just like the "inexperienced" Devils around her, Liora had also tried to glimpse the creature’s true nature.
It was just that, unlike them, who had obviously failed and suffered backlash, Liora had managed to catch a small glimpse of their form.
From what she had seen, the hidden creature was made of wood.
In her perception, it radiated a vast aura full of life and creation, as though every other creature was merely its creation.
Based on these clues, Liora made a guess about its identity.
Most likely, the towering creature was a tree!
However, just how powerful could such a tree be?
While Liora was deep in thought, the information she had glimpsed replaying in her mind again and again, time did not stop for her.
The changes in the white gate continued.
Images kept appearing.
Until finally, the gate stopped trembling.
All the extraordinary phenomena came to an end.
Under the watchful eyes of the gathered crowd, the white gate began to open, its two halves slowly parting.
A vast expanse of white was revealed within.
The moment it appeared, every Ancient Devil felt the River of Time tremble, as though it had been struck by something.
"With such a phenomenon, it should indeed be the Land of Origin..." Liora heard a Primordial Devil mutter.
Despite this, no one rushed inside.
Instead, the Ancient Devils looked toward the back, where most of the injured Archdevils were gathered.
Then, without hesitation, they took action.
Several enormous hands made of demonic energy materialized and descended toward the unsuspecting Archdevils.
The latter were stunned. Fear and terror flashed in their eyes as they tried to beg for mercy.
Unfortunately, the owners of the hands gave them no chance.
Each giant hand grabbed dozens of Archdevils and tossed them into the white gate.
The Archdevils who had come here had all hoped to enter the secret realm.
For a moment, it seemed their wish was about to come true.
Unfortunately, they were far from happy.
The moment their bodies entered the white expanse, they all froze in place, like insects sealed in amber.
Then, their bodies exploded.
Their blood and flesh splattered everywhere before disappearing.
Liora knew that their traces had not truly been erased.
Using her connection to her Throne, she noticed that several body fragments had appeared on the surface of the River of Time, where they were being corroded by its illusory waters.
Everyone understood what this meant.
"This is indeed the Land of Origin! Only the Land of Origin can have such power!" a hidden Ancient Devil whispered in a feverish voice, their aura fluctuating wildly and mirroring their emotions.
They wasted no time.
Without speaking any further, they didn’t look back and plunged into the Land of Origin.
No one dared to stop them. That being had already reached the Primordial stage and was quite powerful among its peers.
Once the first one entered, a second soon followed.
Then the third and the fourth.
Before long, the hidden Devils were no longer the only ones entering the Land of Origin.
The Ancient Devils of the present era followed them in as well.
First were the three suspected Absolute Beginning powerhouses, accompanied by their many subordinates.
Then came the second most powerful group—the Primordial Devils.
Liora was among them.
Just like the others, she dove into the Land of Origin with little hesitation.
After her and the Primordial Devils were those at the Antiquity and Other Shore stage.
Before long, the crowd had disappeared, all swallowed by the white gate.
Yet people did not stop coming.
Every minute, a new Devil would arrive before the secret realm’s entrance and head into it.
Some of these creatures were Rulers of the present era who were simply late.
Most, however, were hidden Devils. They all entered the Land of Origin with eyes full of madness, like thirsty wanderers who had finally met a body of clear water.
--
Liora had learned from the Mountain Demon Lord that anyone who entered the Land of Origin would be transported to a different location.
Hearing this, she had initially thought that the secret realm would separate them through spatial means.
Upon entering the Land of Origin, however, Liora realized she had been wrong.
The power of space was not used at all. Instead, it was the power of time that enveloped their bodies and separated them.
As though the Devils had been transported to different Eras, Liora watched her "companions" vanish.
A white glow engulfed her vision.
When it faded away a split second later, she found herself in a completely different location.
She was standing on a desolate continent.
There were no signs of vegetation, with no trees, bushes, or even grass in sight.
However, the continent was not truly lifeless.
As Liora raised her head, she noticed some colorful birds flying above her.
A trace of surprise flashed through her eyes. She immediately noticed something peculiar.
In her perception, those birds possessed neither souls nor emotions. Like puppets controlled by invisible strings, they merely mimicked living beings.
"According to the Mountain Demon Lord, all the creatures inside the Land of Origin are merely projections, born from the fusion of fragments of time that were created during that ancient battle."
"Some Devils suspect they are beings projected from the past. Others believe they are completely new creatures."
For a moment, Liora’s curiosity was piqued.
She wanted to catch one of the birds and study its structure to find out the truth.
However, she quickly restrained herself.
She knew that acting rashly in a new place with what seemed like completely different rules was simply asking for death.
Before doing anything, she should first study her surroundings.
More importantly, she had to deal with her own situation.
Thinking of this, Liora lowered her head and looked at her body.
Immediately, she discovered that she had unknowingly become transparent, her form flickering as though it were about to disappear.
With every invisible time fragment that struck her, that flickering became even more pronounced.
