Kai decided to explore the kitchen a little and see what they could find to eat. Everyone was hungry, and with the doctor expected to arrive in about twenty minutes, he wanted to prepare something for his little princess in the meantime. Elara’s favorite vegetable rice seemed like the perfect choice.

"They’ve restocked everything."

A quick glance inside the refrigerator was enough to tell him that much. Someone must have visited the house earlier that day, considering neither Kai nor Adam had known he would be coming here today.

Regardless, he didn’t dwell on it for long and opened the vegetable compartment, inspecting its contents before deciding what to prepare. For himself and Jean, he settled on noodles.

There were even rice noodles and several packets of spicy instant noodles among the supplies. Honestly, the kitchen felt less like an ordinary household pantry and more like someone had taken a small section of a convenience store and stuffed it into the house.

Kai couldn’t help but appreciate the abundance as he began preparing the ingredients. At least he wouldn’t have to worry about running out of food anytime soon.

Just as he settled into his work, the system’s familiar notification rang in his mind.

[Host, all the rewards have been prepared.]

Kai hummed in satisfaction.

"Let them come to me."

The system immediately began listing his accumulated rewards.

[MP: 35 → 67]

[Attribute Points: 20]

[Experience Points: 300/3500]

[Quest: Hear Your Child Call You for the First Time]

[Reward: Inheritance]

[Description: A skill that allows the host to temporarily pass on his knowledge and skills to his child.]

Kai was surprised. He had expected to level up after everything he had accomplished, but he hadn’t anticipated doing so several times in a row. The system usually took the difference in strength between him and his opponents into account when calculating his rewards, and while he had certainly been almost on the same level as the dragon the other beasts were definitely weaker than him.

Still, he wasn’t about to complain about the generous rewards. If anything, he was more curious about the new skill he had just received.

"System, are you implying that my daughter might awaken her abilities?"

The thought filled him with a mixture of happiness and apprehension.

Having magical abilities was hardly a blessing when it came to living an ordinary life. Those who awakened their powers were often drawn into a world of chaos, where danger lurked around every corner and survival depended on their ability to fight.

Of course, Kai had enough resources and connections to ensure that Elara would never have to worry about her basic needs. He could provide her with the finest education, the best protection, and a comfortable life far removed from the dangers that plagued ordinary hunters.

But what if that wasn’t what she wanted?

What if, one day, she looked at the world beyond the walls and decided that she wanted to become a hunter herself? What if she insisted on joining a raid, eager to experience the very adventures he had spent so much effort keeping her away from?

Beyond those walls lay a world filled with danger, bloodshed, and despair. Even the most experienced hunters could lose their lives in the blink of an eye, and no amount of wealth could guarantee that someone would return safely from a raid.

This is bad...

The more Kai thought about it, the less comfortable he became.

He tried to imagine his innocent, adorable little daughter stepping into that brutal world, facing monsters that could tear her apart without a second thought. The image alone was enough to make his heart tighten.

No. He couldn’t accept that.

The thought of Elara getting caught up in that bloody world simply didn’t sit right with him.

[Host, the skill can also be used to bestow mana upon your child. Therefore, the recipient does not need to be an awakened.]

Kai let out a sigh of relief. Now, this was much better.

After rereading the skill description, he realized just how useful Inheritance could be for Elara in the future. Even if she never awakened her abilities, he could still pass on his mana and allow her to use his knowledge and skills temporarily. At the very least, she would have a means of protecting herself and escaping dangerous situations if the need ever arose.

A good skill indeed.

Satisfied with that discovery, Kai turned his attention to his newly acquired Berserk skill.

"Triple my stats? Won’t I reach S-rank easily?"

Judging by his current attributes, he had already reached the B-rank threshold, a tremendous leap from where he had started. With Berserk multiplying his stats threefold, he could potentially push himself into an entirely different league.

Unlike Guardian Embrace, which depended on specific circumstances to activate, Berserk could be triggered at will. That alone made it an exceptionally valuable skill, one that could help him climb to the very top of the rankings.

But there was something else he wanted to check.

’I’m supposed to receive rewards for leveling up, aren’t I?’

[Indeed, Host.]

[Ding! Upon leveling up, the host has earned:]

[1. 8000 SP]

[2. Fiery Birch (SS-Rank)]

[3. Guardian Stone ×5]

Kai continued chopping the vegetables, but his mind went blank for a moment.

[Total SP: 9500 SP]

He stared at the notification in disbelief.

No, seriously. Was he seeing things?

He had been planning to purchase the Monarch-grade potion for some time and had even worked out how he would grind day and night to accumulate the eight thousand points required to buy it. It was going to take considerable effort, but he had been prepared to put in the work.

Yet a single incident had earned him more than enough points to make that purchase, with some left over.

And here I thought this day was going to be unfortunate.

A soft smile spread across Kai’s lips. Whatever else had happened today, he certainly couldn’t complain about the rewards.

With renewed interest, he turned his attention to the unfamiliar item on the list.

’What is this Fiery Birch?’

[Name: Fiery Birch]

[Type: Armament]

[Rank: SS]

[Element: Flame]

[Description: An armament forged from the burning branch of the Divine Tree and was shaped into the arch of a bow. For further information, the host may check the armament.]

Kai blinked in surprise, a quiet hum escaping his lips. This was quite nice. He was looking for another armament considering his poor Frozen Tooth was sacrificed in the last battle.

And considering the rank of the armament he believed this would be the perfect addition to his arsenal.

’But I don’t have any experience in using the bow.’ He has used projectiles before but not bows and arrows.

’Maybe I can try it out in the ruins for starters.’

That seemed like a reasonable place to start. With the right opportunity, he could get a feel for the weapon, without worrying about causing unnecessary damage or harming someone.

He then landed his gaze on the last reward.

’What is Guardian Stone now?’

[Guardian Stone: A loyalty stone that allows the host to make a companion beast that would be unconditionally loyal to the host. The condition to place the guardian stone requires the host to beat the subject to oblivion.]

Kyle crossed his arms seeing that. This was actually quite convenient and helpful considering he could always get a strong beast from the ruins or the dungeon and make them his loyal beast.

It wouldn’t do much help to him generally considering if he could beat a beast to oblivion he surely would be challenging something stronger than that the next time. But they surely would become good guard dogs for his family.

So yes, another useful reward from the system. First the Berserk, then an armament and now this.

Just then, his phone rang. He turned around, expecting it from Adam, however,

"Mark?"

Has the news already reached him?

He picked the call and the first thing he heard,

{Dude...I left you for a few days and you have somehow turned into some kind of main character. Trouble seemed to have fallen for you.}

"..."
