Fated love: the unwanted bride
Chapter 2583: A Deep Darkness Shrouds Sylvan Cheney’s Eyes
Night.
The wind was a bit strong; Jasmine Yale wore a trench coat and walked around the streets of Old York with Will Caddel.
The evening breeze was exceptionally pleasant, and the street was extra charming. Her heart leaped with youthful exuberance, as if she were young and free again like many years ago.
In her joy, she walked along the path with a smile, almost unable to resist hopping along the stones on the roadside with each step.
In the past, whenever she was very happy, she would do just that.
She and Will Caddel strolled around the busiest shopping district of Old York. Sometimes, when they got tired, they would sit by the fountain, enjoying the lights while drinking milk tea.
Will Caddel also wore a trench coat. Most of the time, he liked to keep his hands in its pockets, standing or sitting with her.
The most bustling area was always filled with people coming and going. It boasted some of the most beautiful lights in the world and the most fashionable elegance.
Sometimes, Jasmine Yale would just sit there, watching the people passing by without doing anything else.
She liked looking at handsome guys and beautiful women, and of course, adorable little kids too.
Whenever children passed by, she would smile and playfully tease them.
Little did she know, her every smile and movement fell right into the eyes of a man at the floor-to-ceiling window of a restaurant on the thirty-third floor.
Sylvan Cheney held a freshly poured glass of wine, glowing like a Ruby under the dim light, emanating a cold, dark red radiance, devoid of warmth.
He wore an ink-colored shirt, one hand tucked in the pocket of his trousers, standing by the window.
Initially overlooking the city center under the night sky, he unexpectedly spotted Jasmine Yale’s figure among thousands of people.
Her face was flushed, her spirits soaring. Occasionally, she would shake the milk tea in her cup or mischievously kick a pebble beneath her feet.
A deep shadow flickered in Sylvan Cheney’s eyes, like the stars in the sky, appearing and disappearing.
He tightened his grip on the wine glass.
"Evan, try this pineapple curry rice. It’s really good," Erin Janus said from across the table, looking at him.
"Mm." Sylvan Cheney turned around.
He sat opposite Erin Janus, not eating much, just sipping his wine.
"Alright, Evan, stop drinking. Remember, when Dad and Grandpa arrive, you’ll have to drink more." Erin Janus said with a smile, her face flushed with happiness.
"When will they arrive? And your mother?"
"Let me see... about ten minutes or so. My mom’s not coming; she doesn’t like socializing and prefers being alone."
"Oh, your mother is a very quiet person."
"Mm, lucky I didn’t take after her, or being too quiet wouldn’t do—couldn’t even chase after the one I love." Erin Janus laughed, licking the curry off her spoon and patting her belly, "Evan, your Little Princess is kicking me. Do something about her."
Sylvan Cheney smirked, taking a sip of his wine.
"Forget it; I knew you couldn’t bear to." Erin Janus laughed.
Erin Janus was a lively woman, forming a stark contrast to the taciturn Sylvan Cheney.
However, Erin Janus loved his silent and gentle demeanor. She did not like those noisy and uncouth rich kids.
She peeled a grape for Sylvan Cheney: "This grape is really sweet, give it a try."
The bright lights in the restaurant shone on Erin Janus’s face. She seemed like a Little Princess surrounded by stars, showered in love and care from the whole world.
The restaurant was luxurious and spacious, with soft piano music gently flowing from speakers in the corner, akin to a murmuring stream.
