Fated love: the unwanted bride

Chapter 2668: Honey, I Love You

  • Next Chapter

Erin Janus’s tone switched to the mode of a virtuous wife and loving mother: "Don’t bother buying grapes, working diligently is also a way of being good to me. I’m planning to go to sleep, even if I can’t sleep, I have to try..."

"Okay."

"How about this, why don’t you say something romantic to me? I’ll demonstrate first... Honey, I love you, I love you to the ends of time, growing old together, we must always be together." Erin Janus laughed on the other end, "Just say a few sweet words to cheer me up, that’ll be good enough."

"Erin, you know what kind of person I am."

"Oh." Erin sensed the displeasure in his tone and did not press further; he was someone who couldn’t be swayed by persuasion or force.

"Go to sleep early, take care of yourself, good night." Sylvan Cheney said.

"Got it." Hearing his comforting words made Erin quite excited and she didn’t push further.

If she pushed further, she wouldn’t likely get a satisfactory answer.

After hanging up the phone, Sylvan Cheney tossed the mobile aside and lit up another cigarette.

The smoke swirled under the white light, filling the whole office with its scent.

Sylvan Cheney smoked as he flipped through the documents in his hand, with the only sounds in the silent space being the rustling of paper and the rain outside.

On the simple gray-and-white desk, various documents were piled up thickly, filled with English, numbers, and translations. Sylvan’s brows furrowed, lips pressed tightly together, his deep gaze filled with an unfathomable light.

The rain in Old York was pouring heavily, with a layer of white mist already shrouding everything outside, obscuring the view completely.

The wind blows hard, and the rain falls heavily.

Soon, Sylvan Cheney’s phone rang again.

He glanced down and answered—

"Did you find him?"

"Found him, President, the person has been brought to Old York and settled in Or Hotel."

"Has anyone discovered?"

"Rest assured, absolutely not, I’ve been very careful with this matter, plus with such weather today, it’s impossible to be discovered."

Sylvan checked his watch: "In half an hour, I’ll be at the hotel, have the room card ready."

"Alright, do you have any other arrangements?"

"I won’t spend too long interacting with him, be ready to send him away."

"Back home?"

"Yes."

"Be cautious, I don’t want any mistakes."

"Understood."

Sylvan hung up the phone.

He smoked a few more cigarettes, his eyes carrying a quiet, reserved shine, his features obscured beneath the smoke, hard to discern.

Outside, the downpour was ferocious, the noise of the rain particularly loud, accompanied by the whirring wind.

Sylvan Cheney closed the files, turned off the computer, and finally picked up his car keys and stood up.

Once he left, the CEO’s office fell into darkness, like a vast abyss, unfathomable.

Only the sound of Sylvan Cheney’s dress shoes echoed through the corridor.

The autumn night was cold, and such a rainy evening was especially chilling.

He drove his Maybach out of the underground garage, into the rain, like a swift rainbird, quickly vanishing into the overlapping veils of rain.

Outside, wind and rain converged, seeming to form a thick fog, hands could not be seen before one’s face.

At this hour, there weren’t many vehicles on the road, just a few here and there.

Or Hotel.

Outside the hotel, lights were bright, the sign flashing with glowing light.

This was a five-star hotel, very attentive to matters of privacy.

Sylvan Cheney parked the car in the hotel’s underground parking lot. Just as the car stopped, his subordinate handed over the room card.

"President."

"Hmm." Sylvan took it, "You should wait below and don’t be seen."

"Alright, I’ll be careful, rest assured."
