Fated love: the unwanted bride
Chapter 2679: Little Clementine Is Her Life
Jasmine Yale’s eyes had a glimmer, as she held the drooping Little Clementine, gently patting her back: "Baby, let’s go to the big hospital, it’s okay, it will get better..."
Little Clementine remained silent, her mouth pouted high, listless, with unfocused eyes. She couldn’t sleep and had no energy left to cry, just lying uncomfortably in Jasmine Yale’s arms, her little face bright red.
Butler Santana helped carry the items as well, and the two walked out of the hospital one after the other.
It was still raining outside, not heavily, but raindrops fluttered onto Jasmine Yale’s face, wetting the hair on her forehead.
Because she hurried out in the morning, her attire was quite casual, and her hair had gotten disheveled as she moved around.
Children’s Hospital.
Butler Santana dropped off Jasmine Yale and Little Clementine at the agreed location.
The service here was excellent, with a nurse patiently taking Little Clementine and handing her over to the most renowned pediatric doctor in Cakago.
Jasmine Yale breathed a sigh of relief and tiredly rubbed her forehead.
"Miss Yale, are you tired? I’ll watch over here, you go and rest for a while." Butler Santana felt for her, having been up before dawn, carrying Little Clementine to find a doctor.
Jasmine Yale nodded: "I’ll just step out to buy some things for Little Clementine."
"Okay, sure."
Jasmine Yale’s complexion didn’t look good, her lips were pale and her eyes weary, yet her heart was slightly at ease.
Little Clementine was her life.
Walking along the corridor, Jasmine Yale felt the wind blowing, and only then realized she had rushed out in the morning with just a windbreaker draped over pajamas—it was quite cold.
She hugged her arms and walked listlessly to the elevator, pressing the button.
Outside, the rain continued, with a gloomy sky overhead.
Surrounding clouds were dark and dense, as if ready to descend at any moment.
Several female nurses were chatting by the elevator—
"Today, Mr. Smith is sitting in pediatrics, who has such influence to invite Mr. Smith?"
"Didn’t Mr. Smith just come last week? Weren’t we told he wouldn’t be here this week?"
"That was the plan, I’m surprised too, but I saw Mr. Smith today. If you don’t believe me, go to pediatrics and check—he’s still there."
They were speaking in a foreign language, but Jasmine Yale understood them perfectly.
Mr. Smith?
The one who had just checked on Little Clementine was Mr. Smith.
Jasmine Yale’s eyes reflected surprise; she had thought he was just an ordinary pediatric expert... She was lucky.
Jasmine Yale smiled warmly and asked: "Is Mr. Smith... difficult to invite?"
A young nurse looked at her and chuckled: "Yes, and he’s very busy, it’s hard to schedule him. But his medical skills are superb, and he’s very patient with children. Meeting Mr. Smith is fortunate; children really like him."
"Was Mr. Smith not supposed to come here today?" Jasmine Yale inquired further.
"Yes, the hospital hadn’t assigned him work this week because Mr. Smith mentioned he had to go on a business trip to Pasington. We’re also curious why he suddenly came to the hospital today."
Jasmine Yale suddenly seemed to understand something.
Her eyes shone with a haze.
She remained silent for a long time, with lips curved in a faint, distant smile.
Not until the elevator arrived did she step in, quietly following the crowd downstairs.
It was still raining outside, as she stood on the steps with an umbrella, arms slightly folded, watching the cold, endless rainfall, her gaze dazed.
The wind blew her disheveled hair.
