Fated love: the unwanted bride
Chapter 2681: She Thought She Was Dreaming
"Don’t look for him anymore in the future," Jasmine Yale said calmly.
"I understand. Now that he has a family, bothering him again... isn’t really appropriate."
"Hmm."
Butler Santana didn’t say much more. She occasionally read the newspaper and knew that Erin Janus was about to have his child.
After so many years, Mr. Cheney finally had a family.
Since the first day she followed Mr. Cheney, she had been curious about what kind of woman a man like him would marry. Now, she finally knew.
"Butler Santana, I’m going to buy some breakfast, let’s eat something together," Jasmine Yale said.
"I don’t have much appetite. I’ll just take care of Little Clementine here, you go eat," Butler Santana replied.
"You should eat even if you don’t have an appetite. How about I bring you some porridge after I’m done? Something light."
"That sounds fine." Butler Santana didn’t refuse any longer.
Before leaving, Jasmine Yale glanced at Little Clementine once more. The little one was asleep, still with a blush on his cheeks, but his condition was much better than before.
Jasmine Yale went to the restaurant downstairs in the hospital for breakfast.
Whether it was due to exhaustion or not, she started nodding off as she ate.
Jasmine Yale forced herself to wake up, finished her breakfast, and brought a serving of red bean porridge for Butler Santana, dragging her tired body back to the ward.
"Butler Santana, I’ll sleep for a while next door. Call me if anything happens," Jasmine Yale felt unwell and feared she might be getting a cold.
"It’s alright, I’m here. You can go rest," Butler Santana said, taking the porridge she brought.
"Alright!"
Jasmine Yale felt cold, wrapped herself in a blanket, and lay down on the table in the lounge. Perhaps not sleeping well at night coupled with exhaustion made her fall into a deep sleep soon after.
Outside the window, rain was falling, the sound of raindrops tapping against the window in a "pitter-patter," the surroundings silent.
Maybe because it was still early, the hospital was very quiet, with no sound to be heard.
Next door, Butler Santana ate porridge, watched Little Clementine, and suddenly sighed.
Little Clementine looked just like Mr. Cheney.
The little one slept softly under the covers, still and quiet, occasionally smacking his little tongue.
Butler Santana didn’t have much of an appetite, eating only half of the red bean porridge before setting it aside to watch over Little Clementine.
Gradually, the skies brightened.
The night fog was slowly dissipating. From the window, one could clearly see the tall buildings across.
The sky remained dark and oppressive, like a storm could break out at any moment.
Autumn in Cakago was already very cold.
The ward was quiet, so quiet that even breathing could be heard clearly.
The day grew brighter.
Butler Santana, who was dozing with her head in her hands, wasn’t sure what time it was when she suddenly heard footsteps, not too soft, not too loud.
She was a light sleeper and woke up immediately, turning her head.
"Mr. Cheney?" She could hardly believe she wasn’t dreaming upon seeing him.
Sylvan Cheney was dressed in a light gray casual long coat, with a simple black sweater underneath. His stature was tall and his face was lean, eyes cloaked with hidden depths.
His hands were in his coat pockets, with a few drops of rain on his leather shoes, as if he had just come in from outside, his complexion not very good, even with a hint of wear and tear.
He stared fixedly at Butler Santana.
Instinctively, Butler Santana stood up quickly and respectfully.
