First Immortal of the Sword
Chapter 3055 - Chaos
Luo Yun’an could tell at a glance that the group hurtling toward Su Yi and Yun Rong were experts of Crimson Kite Daoist Court!
Yue Qiu and the others who’d only just left the Dragonbone Worldship were among them.
It seems that bastard Yue Qiu refused to listen to sense! Luo Yun’an instantly understood. This was most likely an arrangement Yue Qiu had made to get revenge.
Practically simultaneously, Yun Rong noticed the approaching Crimson Kite Daoist Court experts. Her beautiful face paled.
She hurriedly transmitted to Su Yi, introducing these new arrivals.
Su Yi’s eyebrows rose, but he wasn’t actually surprised.
“Elder, that’s the guy! He’s the one who killed several Crimson Kite Daoist Court disciples on the Dragonbone Worldship!” Yue Qiu pointed at Su Yi and explained to the tall, yellow-robed, middle-aged man beside him.
The middle-aged man was called Yan Beigu. He was the ninth elder of Crimson Kite Daoist Court’s inner sect, and he presided over their base on Myriad Jades Island year-round.
Several other Crimson Kite Daoist Court higher-ups stood behind him. All of them were Heavenly Monarchs.
Yun Liu was the next to chime in. She gnashed her teeth. “And that’s Yun Rong, the traitor colluding with our enemies to harm her own sectmates. Her crimes are unforgivable!”
Yue Qiu, Yun Liu, and the others were now confident in their backing and utterly fearless.
Yan Beigu looked Su Yi up and down, then said, “Do you have anything to say for yourself?”
“You’re here just in time,” said Su Yi. “I just so happened to be on my way to visit Crimson Kite Daoist Court. Why not guide me there?”
Yun Rong’s status was so lowly that if she led him to Crimson Kite Daoist Court, he might never even lay eyes on the sect leader. Yan Beigu was an elder, and he naturally wielded immense authority. Who better to lead Su Yi to Crimson Kite Daoist Court?
But Su Yi’s suggestion left Yan Beigu and his companions unwittingly stunned. What a mouth on that guy! Can’t he see that we’re here to get even?
“Mo Hanyi, your death is upon you, yet you still dare boast so shamelessly? Don’t tell me you really don’t know the meaning of the word death?” bellowed Yue Qiu.
Yan Beigu furrowed his brow, inwardly furious.
But before he could say anything, Su Yi took a step forward and smiled faintly. “What do you think?”
It was just a few light, airy words. Others listening in heard them but felt nothing at all.
But when his words reached Yan Beigu’s ears, his heart quivered, his mind buzzed, and chills coursed down his spine.
Su Yi suddenly seemed to transform before his very eyes. His majesty connected heaven and earth, illuminating the ages. He was powerful beyond imagination!
That invisible pressure was so intense that even he, a Refining the Void Stage Heavenly Monarch, felt more paltry and insignificant than ever before.
Yan Beigu’s instincts screamed that, so long as Su Yi was willing, he could determine his life or death at whim!
Who is this person? Why is he so terrifying? And how could that bastard Yue Qiu provoke someone like this? He’s... practically pushing me into the fire!
In the end, Yan Beigu suppressed his terror, steeled himself, and said, “Forgive my poor discernment. Might I be so bold as to request your honorable name and surname and your reasons for visiting Crimson Kite Daoist Court?”
The experts behind Yan Beigu looked on in astonishment. The famously fiery, tyrannical ninth elder suddenly seemed like a completely different person. He had no bluster or fire whatsoever!
Su Yi smiled, then transmitted, “My name is Su Yi. I’m visiting Crimson Kite Daoist Court in search of Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan, but I’d prefer not to reveal my identity at the moment. I hope you’ll understand.”
Su Yi! An explosion went off in Yan Beigu’s mind. He practically shrieked in sheer terror.
Word of the battles in the Divine Wandering Continent and Blackwater Celestial Capital had taken the Southern Sea’s cultivation world by storm.
Yan Beigu was stationed on Myriad Jades Island, so he was far better informed than most. How could he possibly be ignorant of all this?
He knew that Su Yi was now the Greatest of the Unthroned, invincible against Heavenly Monarchs. He was even heaven-defying enough to fight Heavenly Sovereigns!
Yan Beigu suddenly felt the urge to crush Yue Qiu to death. You could have provoked anyone. Why’d you have to go and provoke this legendary, unparalleled sword cultivator? You’re not just screwing yourself over. You’re screwing over the entire sect and everyone in it!
“What’s wrong, Elder?” Yue Qiu noticed that Yan Beigu’s expression was strange and incomparably unsightly.
You still have the face to ask? Yan Beigu could no longer suppress his fury. He slapped Yue Qiu, then called out to his followers, “Someone, capture him! I’ll decide how to punish him later.”
The crisp slap left Yue Qiu seeing stars.
Everyone was flabbergasted. They could never have anticipated this.
“Quick!” shouted Yan Beigu, his gaze terrifying. “Capture Yun Liu, too. Send them both back to the sect for punishment!”
Yun Liu was shocked and completely bewildered, but before she could respond, both she and Yue Qiu had been suppressed and confined.
Yun Rong was initially overcome with nervousness, but this development left her stunned, too. How... could this happen?
Yan Beigu then took a big step forward, clasped his fist, and bowed. “Our disciples were blind and foolish to have provoked you. I humbly request your magnanimity, Your Excellency!”
Su Yi laughed. “Lead my way, and I’ll naturally let bygones be bygones.”
Yan Beigu inwardly sighed in relief. “Rest assured, Your Excellency. I’ll do everything in my power to assist you!”
It was no wonder that Yan Beigu was so awed and reverent. The founder of his sect, Fei Yunzi, was dear friends with Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan, and everyone in the Eternal Heavens Domain knew that Su Yi and Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan were allies!
Moreover, Su Yi was terrifyingly strong. How could Yan Beigu dare to be negligent under the circumstances?
Su Yi gazed at the distant Myriad Jades Island, but decided against any further delays. “If possible, I’d like to set course for Crimson Kite Daoist Court immediately.”
Yan Beigu pondered briefly, then agreed. “Please wait while I make a few arrangements. Then, I’ll accompany you there personally!”
Su Yi nodded.
Meanwhile, Yan Beigu turned to his companions, but he didn’t keep Su Yi waiting long. He quickly made arrangements, then took out a treasure ship, which carried him, Su Yi, and Yun Rong into the distance.
The captives, Yue Qiu and Yun Liu, went with them. According to Yan Beigu, they’d be punished severely in accordance with the sect’s rules when they reached Crimson Kite Daoist Court.
Su Yi didn’t care in the slightest. Both were small fries of no importance. Getting hung up on their petty offenses would make him seem small-minded.
Before long, the ship vanished over the horizon.
Luo Yun’an watched all of this play out from the Dragonbone Worldship. He wasn’t sure why Yan Beigu had suddenly changed his tune and apologized to Su Yi out of nowhere, even going so far as to personally escort him away
The only thing he knew for sure was that Yue Qiu was in deep shit this time!
The thought made him increasingly glad that he hadn’t acted carelessly or attempted revenge. If he had, he wouldn’t have fared any better than Yue Qiu!
After a moment’s silence, Luo Yun’an returned to the Dragonbone Worldship’s first pavilion. He was in no mood to explore the island. All he wanted was to leave the Southern City as soon as possible, then tell the sect leader everything that had happened.
After all, Mister Wen had vanished inexplicably. If the sect leader sought to blame someone, Luo Yun’an wouldn’t escape punishment.
But not long after Luo Yun’an returned, a figure appeared out of nowhere. It was Mister Wen!
“You’re back, Mister Wen?” Luo Yun’an said with delight. In truth, he was deeply ill at ease, terrified that Mister Wen had come back to settle the score!
“Don’t be afraid. You did nothing wrong. Why would I punish you?” Mister Wen smiled and comforted him, then changed the subject. “There’s something I need you to do for me.”
Luo Yun’an said hurriedly, “Please command me!”
Mister Wen said casually, “Go to Myriad Jades Island and use the Luo Family’s forces to spread a certain message. Tell the world that Su Yi has arrived in the Southern Sea, and that he’s colluding with Crimson Kite Daoist Court, presumably in a bid to acquire the Eternal Throne deep in the Sea of Fate.”
Luo Yun’an was astonished. “Crimson Kite Daoist Court has joined forces with Su Yi?”
Mister Wen didn’t explain. All he said was, “Don’t disappoint me again.”
Luo Yun’an stiffened, then said hurriedly, “Rest assured, Mister Wen. I’ll do everything in my power!”
A moment later, something occurred to him. He couldn’t help but blurt, “Mister Wen, don’t tell me that Mo Hanyi is really...”
Mister Wen laughed. “It’s just as you think. That was Su Yi.”
Luo Yun’an’s heart and body quivered. His soul practically left his body for sheer panic. So, Mo Hanyi was actually the famous Su Yi! The one who’s made the entire Eternal Heavens Domain boil over!
“I’ve got to say, you’re quite lucky to have survived your encounter with him. You must be truly blessed by fate.” Mister Wen patted Luo Yun’an on the shoulder. “Go on.”
A moment later, Mister Wen vanished into thin air once more.
Luo Yun’an fell briefly into a daze, his expression shifting erratically. He actually recognized Su Yi... Just... who is Mister Wen?
Luo Yun’an felt as if his heart were tied up in knots, but he knew he couldn’t afford to give the matter any further thought. He just dashed off.
That very day, word that Su Yi had appeared in the Southern Sea and joined forces with Crimson Kite Daoist Court spread, starting on Myriad Jades Island. It was as if the rumor had grown wings; word spread throughout the Southern Sea in a flash.
A single stone could create a thousand ripples. Countless factions and experts were instantly alert.
Recent developments in the Sea of Fate meant that dark currents were already flowing beneath the surface of the Southern Sea’s cultivation world. A storm was brewing, and the wind and rains would soon be upon them.
Su Yi’s arrival would only make the brewing storm all the fiercer.
Meanwhile, beneath the dome of heaven and above the blue seas, Su Yi sprawled out comfortably in a wicker chair, drinking and enjoying the salty breeze.
Yan Beigu stood beside him, telling him about recent developments in the Southern Sea.
For instance, the top factions of the Four Seas had all gathered in the territories of the Profound Phoenixes.
That intrigued Su Yi. He hadn’t anticipated that the four factions would each invite a River Ancestor to work with them.
He didn’t even need to think to know that they were after the Eternal Throne in the Southern Sea.
In truth, practically everything Yan Beigu told him revolved around the Sea of Fate. After all, this was by far the biggest thing that had happened of late, and the whole world was paying attention. This was the source of the Southern Sea’s brewing storm, too.
After a little while, Su Yi pondered briefly, then said, “You’re saying that your founder and Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan left for the Sea of Fate two months ago, and that there’s been no word from either of them since?”
Yan Beigu nodded solemnly. Their founder’s disappearance was top secret in Crimson Kite Daoist Court. Even now, no one outside the sect knew.
However, this had caused an enormous disturbance within the sect’s upper echelons. After all, if something happened to their founder, Crimson Kite Daoist Court would suffer the brunt of the impact.
“Unfortunately, I know very little about these things. I’m sure you can get clearer answers once you’ve met with our leader,” said Yan Beigu.
Su Yi nodded. He dared to say with certainty that Ku Xuan and Fei Yunzi were still alive, but that they were trapped somewhere in the Sea of Fate.
And Heavenly Sovereign E was the most likely culprit. After all, he was a fellow Heavenly Sovereign of roughly comparable strength.
As he was pondering, Yan Beigu received an urgent message from Crimson Kite Daoist Court’s base on Myriad Jades Island. After reading its contents, his expression shifted dramatically, and he handed the message to Su Yi.
Su Yi’s brow furrowed.
The message’s contents were simple: his identity had been exposed.
The message also said that he’d come to the Southern Sea and joined forces with Crimson Kite Daoist Court to seek out the Eternal Throne in the Sea of Fate.
Moreover, it was the Luo Family’s forces disseminating the news!
The message mentioned that Luo Yun’an had come to their base on Myriad Jades Island to explain the situation. He hoped they could inform Yan Beigu as quickly as possible that Mister Wen was the one truly behind this!
Su Yi naturally understood what was going on. Heavenly Sovereign E was the one behind all this!
Luo Yun’an was but the pawn he was using.
“What do we do now...?” Yan Beigu was fraught with worry. Their founder had gone missing, and they’d be unable to contact him.
Now, the whole Southern Sea knew about their connection with Su Yi. The Crimson Kite was now at the heart of the storm!
Su Yi rubbed his brow. What a ruthless play. He’s killed two birds with one stone! He’s imperiled Crimson Kite Daoist Court and prevented me from moving in secret. No matter where I go, there’ll be people watching me. He’s obviously trying to force me to go to Shattered Star City and accept his deal.
I bet that if I don’t go, he’ll repeat the same trick and spread word that Ku Xuan and Fei Yunzi are trapped. And that would have an even bigger impact on Crimson Kite Daoist Court!
The old schemer sure is vicious.
Heavenly Sovereign E had been like a lingering ghost or a predator stalking his prey since he’d arrived in the Southern City. He was as relentless as maggots gnawing on old bones, targeting him at every turn.
It was endlessly vexing.
More importantly, Heavenly Sovereign E had no sect or faction, only a small group of dedicated followers. He had no need to fear Su Yi targeting his bases or otherwise seeking retribution.
That was the most troublesome part.
Sometimes, a hole in the roof was typically followed by days of rain. Just an hour after the first message, Yan Beigu received another message, this one from the leader of the sect.
Grand Elder Feng Ruhuo of the Profound Phoenixes had come calling, bringing with him top experts of the other leading factions of the Four Seas.
They said they’d come to visit, but in truth, they were after one of Crimson Kite Daoist Court’s secrets.
So much had happened in less than a day. Yan Beigu was struck dumb, his mind buzzing.
Chaos.
Everything was in chaos!
