First Immortal of the Sword
Chapter 3059 - Ceaseless Damnation
“In light of your decision to duel me, I’ve decided to invent a new dish just for you, my young friend!” River Ancestor Hu Chan smiled, his eyes narrowing into slits. “I’ll call it ‘The Pride of a Sword Cultivator.’ How about it?”
Su Yi laughed, but instead of responding, he looked at River Ancestor Luo Yu. “You aren’t allowed to flee after the duel starts.”
Everyone blinked in surprise. They haven’t even started fighting yet, but he’s already thinking about River Ancestor Luo Yu?
River Ancestor Luo Yu furrowed his brow, but a moment later, he couldn’t help but laugh. “Relax. I won’t run even if you beat me to death.”
He paused, then added, “If I lie, may everyone in my family die!”
This was a form of provocation tinged with mockery, but no one could bring themselves to laugh.
Su Yi said no more on the matter. He just shook his sleeves, walked through the air, and arrived beneath the dome of heaven.
He then gazed down at the distant River Ancestor Hu Chan and hooked his finger. “Come here, chef. I’ll show you the true ‘Pride of a Sword Cultivator.’”
Irrepressible murderous intent blazed in the depths of River Ancestor Hu Chan’s narrowed eyes. He took a step forward, his massively fat frame blurring into a streak of crimson light and shooting into the firmament.
Boom!
The surrounding water shook violently, the churning waves condensing into a blood-red dam.
Strange, terrifying, concentrated baleful energy swept forth like a hurricane, dyeing both the firmament and the ocean a striking shade of red.
As if the world were now a blood-soaked purgatory.
River Ancestor Hu Chan was like the ruler of this blood-soaked purgatory. His terrifying presence intimidated everyone present.
In the Southern Sea, River Ancestors were comparable to Heavenly Sovereigns. They were absolutely no joke.
When River Ancestor Hu Chan revealed his ferocious majesty, the very Laws of the Southern Sea quivered beneath the dome of heaven.
He’d stirred up the mysteries of the heavens!
Every living being throughout the surrounding one hundred thousand miles sensed the disturbance. Their bodies quivered, and they peered into the firmament, only to discover it was now an unsettling shade of red.
Over on Goldstone Island, the defensive formations of Crimson Kite Daoist Court circulated at full power. Even then, they only just barely managed to block River Ancestor Hu Chan’s ferocious aura.
Sect Leader Lu Mu and the others looked stricken, their expressions unprecedentedly solemn.
River Ancestor Luo Yu put his hands behind his back and watched with cold indifference.
He knew that as carefree as River Ancestor Hu Chan seemed, he was actually crafty, insidious, and brutal as could be. Those who opposed him suffered fates worse than death!
River Ancestor Luo Yu couldn’t even begin to imagine where Su Yi got the confidence to challenge River Ancestor Hu Chan to a one-on-one duel.
But he knew he might well get the answer soon!
Su Yi stood beneath the dome of heaven, blue robes billowing around him and long hair fluttering in the wind. He flipped his palm, and the wooden sword, Nine in Third, floated into the air.
Meanwhile, inscrutable power undulated around him, rising higher and higher.
“The Immeasurable Realm, huh...? Tch, it’s just as the rumors say!” River Ancestor Hu Chan burst into laughter, then attacked directly, unable to suppress his seething murderous intent any longer. A waterfall of baleful, blood-red power poured down around him, then condensed into a windstorm.
He waved his hand through the air, and... Boom!
The windstorm suddenly swept forth, tearing through the sky. The entire stretch of ocean, already transformed into a blood-red purgatory, now showed signs of destruction and collapse.
The Blood-Tide Windstorm!
This was one of River Ancestor Hu Chan’s natal divine abilities. It was the product of his blood and qi fusing into his true name. When unleashed, it could tear through the sky, shatter the sun and moon, and devour the blood of all living beings.
River Ancestor Luo Yu felt reassured, as using this technique proved that River Ancestor Hu Chan wasn’t taking his opponent lightly. On the contrary, he saw Su Yi as a true, powerful foe!
He wouldn’t use this ability lightly even when fighting other River Ancestors.
Kaboom!
Heaven and earth caved in, and the sun and moon lost their luster.
In the face of that windstorm, everything was as fragile as paper window paneling. Everything collapsed and broke.
That terrifying, rending power ripped the surrounding waters into shreds!
Goldstone Island was the first to feel the impact. Everything was plunged into upheaval. Its defensive formations shook as if about to collapse.
If things went on like this, the entire Crimson Kite Daoist Court might well meet with disaster at any moment. The aftershock alone would be enough to wipe them out!
When Su Yi realized this, he didn’t hesitate, nor did he shrink back. Instead, he took a big step forward, instantly activating the divine abilities of the Book of Destiny.
First, a low, inscrutable voice resounded in River Ancestor Hu Chan. “Xue Bei, you wretch! Why haven’t you surrendered yet?”
Every word went off like a thunderclap, bringing with it mysterious, taboo power.
River Ancestor Hu Chan’s heart shook.
He’d hidden his true name deep within his body, tucked away where no one could find it, yet now, a sealing power bore down on it, making it shake and sway violently.
His expression shifted.
True names were the source of river denizens’ power. Suppressing them was effectively lethal.
Waves of astonishment coursed through his heart as he completely lost his cool. How the hell did he see through my true name!?
Practically on instinct, he circulated the full extent of his cultivation base and defended his true name with all his might.
At the same time, Su Yi suddenly erupted with the terrifying, ferocious power of River Ancestor Ji Dian. When he swung his sword, heaven and earth split like canvas. A massive, perfectly straight rift opened in midair.
The Blood-Tide Windstorm split down the midline, then collapsed, filling the air with blood-red currents.
This was River Ancestor Hu Chan’s natal divine ability, yet it had been cleaved to pieces, just like that!
The distant onlookers watched in shock and horror.
River Ancestor Luo Yu’s expression shifted dramatically. He had no idea that River Ancestor Hu Chan’s true name was under attack, but he recognized the power Su Yi was using. That belongs to River Ancestor Ji Dian!
What... What’s going on here? Don’t tell me...
But before River Ancestor Luo Yu could give the matter any further thought, an unfathomably deep, massive abyss appeared over heaven and earth, blanketing the sky and blotting out the sun!
A terrifying suction power emanated from deep within the abyss, seemingly intent on pulling all of creation into itself. The sky contorted and collapsed around it. Time and space were thrown into disarray, producing all manner of unbelievable and strange phenomena.
Ceaseless Damnation!
This was a taboo divine ability from the second page of the Book of Destiny. Only those who’d ignited their Natal Heart Lamps could use it. Its power was enough to suppress and devour all living beings!
It was this very divine ability that Su Yi had used to suppress Ying Qi, the unparalleled expert of the Negative Karma Destiny Demons!
And Ying Qi was the terrifying existence who’d suppressed and killed River Ancestor Bai Mang with ease.
Yet not even he had been able to escape Ceaseless Damnation!
Feng Ruhuo and the other distant onlookers’ hair stood on end. They immediately fled further away.
From their vantage point, the enormous abyss seemed far too terrifying, like a black hole intent on devouring all of creation!
River Ancestor Luo Yu didn’t flee, but his expression was filled with bewilderment, and waves of shock coursed through his heart.
He finally understood. Su Yi was using the power of the Book of Destiny!
Meanwhile, River Ancestor Hu Chan had only just barely managed to stabilize his true name when he found himself on the precipice of an endless abyss. Worse, a terrifying power was pulling him toward it.
He couldn’t help but cry out, “The Book of Destiny?”
Only now did he understand why his opponent dared to fight him despite his humble Immeasurable Realm cultivation base. He was Destiny’s Chosen!
Once he realized this, he no longer dared to hesitate. Instead, he unleashed every card at his disposal, fighting with all his might.
Kaboom!
Every last chunk of flesh on his massive frame burned. Endless blood-red, baleful power shot forth.
He was suddenly as thin as a bamboo pole, but his ferocious majesty was far greater than before. A massive axe of bleeding bone condensed in his grip.
He swung with all his might, trying to cleave open a path to life and struggle free of the endless abyss.
Heaven and earth shook, and the abyss churned. Numerous cracks appeared.
River Ancestor Hu Chan was actually on the verge of cleaving through Ceaseless Damnation!
Su Yi couldn’t help but find this surprising. It seems he’s even stronger than River Ancestor Ji Dian and the Ape Ancestor.
But Su Yi was prepared for this. He immediately launched yet another divine ability.
He concentrated the power of the Light of the Heart, using his Destiny Soul to form a radiant seal.
The Seal of Light!
As soon as it appeared, River Ancestor Hu Chan’s true name, Xue Bei, appeared on its surface.
River Ancestor Hu Chan’s stabilized true name shook violently once more, quivering uncontrollably, as if a higher power were gazing directly at it.
River Ancestor Hu Chan had been struggling with all his might, but now, his whole body quivered. His strength plummeted, his vital energy stagnated, and much of his ferocious majesty receded.
He was practically overwhelmed with terror, to the point that he gave up the struggle. He could only watch helplessly as a radiant seal descended upon the landscape of his heart, like a sun crashing into the world below.
He instantly lost control of his heart, and his true name was sealed.
This was the terrifying strength of the Light of the Heart. It could easily assail opponents’ hearts, restricting their true names!
“No! Daoist Brother Luo Yu, help me! Hurry!” River Ancestor Hu Chan shrieked in terror.
Now that his true name had been sealed, his powers of the Grand Dao and very life itself were bound with it. He could no longer fight back.
In the face of Ceaseless Damnation’s suction, he was as helpless as a floating duckweed before a whirlpool. There was nothing he could do to save himself.
River Ancestor Hu Chan’s figure appeared in the Destiny Prison on the first page of the Book of Destiny.
The massive abyss gradually faded away, but the surrounding stretch of sky and ocean was still in turmoil, a vision of destruction and collapse.
River Ancestor Hu Chan’s terrified shrieks of despair and cries for help still echoed through the air, but there was no longer any sign of him.
Su Yi just stood there beneath the dome of heaven, blue robes fluttering in the baleful winds.
His majesty was every bit as great as before.
Feng Ruhuo and the others watched from afar, horrified.
River Ancestor Luo Yu’s face was ashen, his whole body tense.
Those seeking refuge behind the formations of Goldstone Island hadn’t been able to see the battle. It was only now that they looked up and realized that the battle raging overhead was already over.
Su Yi stood in midair, but there was no sign of his opponent.
Everyone fell into a daze, overcome with astonishment.
