Chapter 3064 - Leading the Heavenly Sovereigns Around Like Dogs on a Leash

He’d only just said this when a voice emanated from outside Shattered Star City.

“River Ancestor Luo Yu has come here on his master’s orders to issue a command to Heavenly Sovereign E!”

This voice rumbled and boomed throughout the sky over Shattered Star City.

River Ancestor Luo Yu?

The four Heavenly Sovereigns shot through the air, then appeared outside the city. There, they saw a man in a golden crown and a feather coat standing over the distant seawater.

This was none other than River Ancestor Luo Yu, yet for some reason, he was alone.

The four Heavenly Sovereigns exchanged glances. All of them realized that the situation had changed.

“Why isn’t Su Yi here?” asked Heavenly Sovereign E, his gaze cold and indifferent.

River Ancestor Luo Yu said calmly, “I’m just His Excellency’s errand boy. I dare not try to guess at his thoughts.”

His repeated expressions of fealty to Su Yi made the four Heavenly Sovereigns frown. This is a River Ancestor, someone capable of fighting any one of us on even footing, so why has he taken a junior as his master? He’s simply debasing himself!

“What did Su Yi send you here to do?” asked Heavenly Sovereign E, getting straight to the point.

“His Excellency has invited you all to join him on Converging Currents Island,” said River Ancestor Luo Yu. “If you’re too afraid, forget it.”

With that, he turned to leave, only for Heavenly Sovereign E to call out, “Wait! You’re a River Ancestor, yet you’ve bent at the knee for a mere junior. There must be a reason!

“If you aren’t opposed, you could join us and help us defeat Su Yi. In doing so, you’d regain your freedom. Wouldn’t that be good for you, too?”

“You want me to collude with you from the inside?” asked River Ancestor Luo Yu.

Heavenly Sovereign E nodded. “Cooperate, and killing Su Yi will be no more difficult than turning over our hands. Then, all of us can rejoice.”

River Ancestor Luo Yu just spat up a mouthful of phlegm. “You people don’t understand shit! I won’t sink to such a betrayal in this lifetime! Remember this: If you don’t show up before the day is through, His Excellency won’t keep waiting for you.”

With that, he strode off, vanishing before his voice had even finished echoing through the air.

The four Heavenly Sovereigns’ expressions darkened. Heavenly Sovereign E in particular was overcome with frustration.

He’d poured an enormous amount of effort into arranging formations, ambushes, and traps all over Shattered Star City. He was confident that so long as Su Yi dared show up, he’d win for sure.

Who’d have thought Su Yi would stand him up?

“It seems Su Yi isn’t concerned about Ol’ Ku Xuan after all. Otherwise, how could he change his mind at the last minute like this?” Heavenly Sovereign Wen furrowed his brow.

Heavenly Sovereign Ling sighed softly. “Seems to me that he can tell how eager Fellow Daoist Yan is to acquire the Cauldron of Fate. That’s what’s made him so fearless.”

Heavenly Sovereign Changhen looked at Heavenly Sovereign E. “Fellow Daoist Yan, you decide what we do next.”

Heavenly Sovereign E’s expression shifted erratically. It was immediately obvious to him that Su Yi had made ample preparations on Converging Currents Island; he wouldn’t have invited them there otherwise.

In other words, Converging Currents Island was now a tiger’s den. Who knew what dangers lay in wait?

“Let’s wait for Fellow Daoists Yaoguang and Wuxu to arrive, then go together,” said Heavenly Sovereign E. “Nothing should go wrong so long as we don’t step onto the shore!”

The other Heavenly Sovereigns nodded. At this point, there was little else they could do.

Before the day was through, Heavenly Sovereigns Yaoguang and Wuxu arrived, then accompanied the others to Converging Currents Island.

The island was far out in the Southern Sea. From there, it was just a two-day journey to the Sea of Fate.

But when the Heavenly Sovereigns arrived, they found that River Ancestor Luo Yu was the only one waiting for them.

Worse, he was just an avatar!

The Heavenly Sovereigns instantly realized that the situation had changed yet again.

“We’re here. Where is Su Yi?” Heavenly Sovereign E glowered, forcing his words through the gaps of his teeth.

River Ancestor Luo Yu sighed with regret. “You arrived one step too late. His Excellency has already left for the Sea of Fate.”

The Heavenly Sovereigns were instantly furious.

“That bastard is messing with us!”

“Fellow Daoist Yan, see that? Su Yi is treating us with no sincerity at all. He has no interest in making a deal with you!”

The Heavenly Sovereigns were no fools. They instantly realized that Su Yi was leading them around like dogs on a leash, dragging them wherever he pleased.

Of course they were furious! How could they not be?

Heavenly Sovereign Ling said coldly, “If I’m not mistaken, by the time you came to see us in Shattered Star City, Su Yi had already left for the Sea of Fate. Am I right?”

River Ancestor Luo Yu shook his head. “You’re jumping to conclusions.”

“Like hell I am!” Heavenly Sovereign Ling shouted. “You’re a River Ancestor. Why are you letting some kid order you around like this? Aren’t you afraid we’ll seek revenge?”

River Ancestor Luo Yu laughed dismissively and asked right back. “Aren’t you afraid His Excellency will seek revenge on you?”

He paused, then pointed to himself. “I’m just an avatar. Even if you kill me, it’ll do you no good.”

The Heavenly Sovereigns glowered, their eyes surging with murderous intent.

“If you seek revenge by attacking Crimson Kite Daoist Court, or the Profound Phoenixes, or anyone else, don’t blame His Excellency for giving a tooth for a tooth.” River Ancestor Luo Yu laughed. “Of course, I trust you won’t do anything of the sort. After all, you’ll suffer as much as we will. No one would do such a thing if they had any other choice.”

Heavenly Sovereign E took a deep breath. “Go on and tell me, then. Just what is Su Yi thinking? Give it to me straight!”

River Ancestor Luo Yu said, “His Excellency said that he’d help you by bringing the Cauldron of Fate to the Sea of Fate. If you still want to take a trade, you just need to meet him there.”

The Heavenly Sovereigns exchanged glances. All of them frowned.

It was true that they were after the Cauldron of Fate because they wanted to visit the Sea of Fate.

Su Yi hadn’t simply fled; he, too, was headed to the Sea of Fate. They could accept that, albeit just barely.

River Ancestor Luo Yu continued, “His Excellency also said that it would be best if you were willing to lead the way, Fellow Daoist Yan. When he sees Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan, he’ll naturally give you the Cauldron of Fate.”

Heavenly Sovereign E finally understood what Su Yi was after. He’d played these tricks with the ultimate goal of learning Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan’s whereabouts!

Ultimately, Su Yi didn’t trust him to reveal Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan’s location. That was why he was playing these tricks.

Heavenly Sovereign E instantly regained his cool. “If he wants me to lead the way, shouldn’t he be here to accompany me?”

River Ancestor Luo Yu laughed. “His Excellency said that it was enough that I traveled with you.”

The Heavenly Sovereigns felt stifled. All of them could tell that Su Yi had taken countermeasures against them.

River Ancestor Luo Yu was accompanying them, but that was just his avatar. He had no need to fear them attacking him, but so long as his avatar remained intact, he could contact Su Yi at any time. That meant that Su Yi was effectively traveling with them from afar!

“Very well. I agree!” Heavenly Sovereign E said gravely.

But then, River Ancestor Luo Yu continued, “His Excellency also said...”

“Enough!” Heavenly Sovereign Ling’s voice boomed like thunder. “Aren’t you fucking done yet?”

It wasn’t just him. The other Heavenly Sovereigns were on the verge of losing it, too.

Every time Luo Yu spoke, it was “His Excellency” this and “His Excellency” that. Worse, he was rattling off one demand after another. It was repulsive.

Did Su Yi really think they were even-tempered enough to agree to all of his demands?

“If you don’t want to listen, forget it.” River Ancestor Luo Yu laughed. “Let’s just set off, then. An opportunity to travel with you all is an honor. I’m looking forward to our journey!”

The Heavenly Sovereigns glowered coldly. Outwardly, they disregarded him, but they were conversing amongst themselves in secret.

River Ancestor Luo Yu just stood there, waiting patiently. Inwardly, he was quite rueful. No one else in the Eternal Heavens Domain could lead the Heavenly Sovereigns around like dogs. I wouldn’t have had the guts to do this before submitting to him, either.

They say Heavenly Sovereigns are not to be defied, and they aren’t joking, either.

After a while, Heavenly Sovereign E growled, “Let’s go!”

The group then set off, shooting into the distance. River Ancestor Luo Yu followed, gripping a talisman and transmitting information to Su Yi right in the Heavenly Sovereigns’ faces.

They didn’t know it, but there were two things that left River Ancestor Luo Yu ill at ease. Things weren’t going quite as they’d expected.

He’d planned to meet Heavenly Sovereign E outside Shattered Star City, only to discover that he had three other Heavenly Sovereigns with him. That was the first unexpected development.

The second was that this time, two more Heavenly Sovereigns had joined their ranks!

It was immediately obvious to him that had Su Yi come here, he’d have met with grave peril.

This lineup was enough to make River Ancestor Luo Yu’s heart palpitate with fright. He was under enormous pressure.

It even seemed to him that had Su Yi revealed his hand on Converging Currents Island, he’d have had no hope of victory.

There were only nine Heavenly Sovereigns in the Eternal Heavens Domain.

Now, six of them were working together. This wasn’t unprecedented, but it was extraordinarily rare.

Typically, Heavenly Sovereigns only emerged and worked together like this when disasters grave enough to threaten the entire Eternal Heavens Domain arose!

I just wonder how Destiny’s Chosen plans to avert this catastrophe, thought River Ancestor Luo Yu.

As worried as he was on the inside, on the surface, he smiled as if everything were perfectly normal.

The Sea of Fate.

Tribulation clouds churned overhead, shrouding the world in shadow. Mists hung in the air, like a mysterious veil enveloping the ocean.

Unlike other stretches of water, there were no waves here. All was silent and still, and the water was an unsettling black, like a stubborn cloud of ink.

Those who traversed this overcast forbidden zone were frequently beset by tribulation lightning emanating a calamitous aura mighty enough to threaten even Heavenly Sovereigns.

When the lightning struck the surface of the sea, it vanished silently as if devoured, disappearing without stirring up even the slightest ripple.

The farther one went into the Sea of Fate, the denser the tribulation clouds overhead. They were like mountains hanging upside down from the firmament, churning with electricity and rumbling with thunder. The whole place was full of heart-palpitating power.

Boom!

A streak of sword qi shot into the firmament, then cleaved into the surface of the ocean, only to vanish silently, like snow melting into water.

When Su Yi saw this from afar, he couldn’t help but be solemn.

They said that anyone who fell into the Sea of Fate was effectively consigned to a bottomless abyss for all eternity. Their life force and powers of the Grand Dao would melt away completely.

Now, it seemed the rumors were most likely true.

It was then that the Cauldron of Fate, which Su Yi had been holding in his palm since entering the Sea of Fate, suddenly quivered.
