Four Split Personalities
Chapter 2933 - 1391: Just a Task_2
"Woof."
Ya Ya shook her ears, made a face at Motan, and then trotted away again. If you ignore the Titan Destroyer, which she carried on her shoulder—about two meters long and full of rusty blood-stained drills and gears—the scene is undeniably adorable.
...
A brief silence followed again.
"I apologize on behalf of Ya Ya, my lady. She may have been a bit heavy-handed."
Motan bent down and pulled ’himself’ up from the ground, then, noticing that the other’s right arm had somehow returned to normal, said admiringly, "It seems you have quite a knack for wellness."
In the next second, with a series of cracking sounds, Jiawen’s internal organs and bones, almost all dislocated by the Titan Destroyer, returned to their proper places. She nodded politely to the half-dragon person who helped her up and asked curiously, "I wonder, apart from making you help me up and change your tone to respectful, does the title ’lady’ offer any other benefits, Mr. Gentleman?"
"I’m sorry, that’s the utmost level of courtesy I can muster at this stage."
Motan shook his head and did not delve into the ’wellness’ topic that Jiawen diverted to, but calmly said, "By the way, my patience is running thin."
"Alright, I surrender."
Jiawen raised her hands helplessly, smiled wryly with the same appearance as Motan, and said, "But before I confess thoroughly, may I ask you a couple more questions?"
Motan did not reply, merely continued to look at Jiawen calmly, whose silence in her eyes equated to tacit consent.
"I am curious, if I had just perfectly replicated not only your appearance but also your scent, could I have bypassed that young lady’s guard?"
Jiawen showed a trademark reassuring smile from ’Mor,’ softly saying, "And also, this alley has two exits. If I had chosen the other one earlier, what would have awaited me?"
Motan answered without any hesitation, right after Jiawen finished her question, "Even if you perfectly replicated my scent, it would be challenging to bypass Ya Ya’s defense because when you enter her perception range, she will pose a question to you, to which only I know the answer."
"Very well, I must say, your answer has provided me with much balance."
Jiawen exhaled a light breath, smiling, "It truly is a flawless setup."
"It’s merely relatively complete, not anywhere near flawless."
Motan humbly replied and then added, "As for the other alley exit, a close friend of mine guards there, and similarly, only I know the answer to the question posed there. Are you satisfied with that response?"
Clearly, although spoken politely, Motan’s ’are you satisfied’ was his final ultimatum to Jiawen, the subtext being ’I am about to express my dissatisfaction with you.’
"Of course, of course, very satisfied, utterly and completely satisfied~"
Jiawen nodded understandingly and suddenly transformed into another form amidst a distortion.
It was a fascinating, slender, poised, and beautiful Flower Elf, with long pink hair, dressed in what could be considered a ’robe,’ but revealing enough to be considered quite eye-catching. She held a tome in her hands, with glyphs of dark green ever flowing, and sweetly smiled at Motan. Her pure and sweet aura paired with the tome—which seemed to be some kind of malevolent tome—made for a combination both pure and alluring.
"Please don’t misunderstand."
Before Motan could speak, Jiawen bowed slightly, her appearance and demeanor bearing about thirty percent similarity to her true form, and in a sweet voice that had about twenty percent similarity to her original sweet tone, gently said, "I do not wish to sway you with my relatively superior appearance at this moment, merely to express my respect by revealing my true self."
[True self, huh...]
Motan slightly narrowed his eyes, scrutinizing the woman in front of him whom he had never met, yet had heard described before, silently murmuring in his heart.
A Flower Elf woman with pink long hair, a pleasant appearance, primarily wielding firearms, seeming to be about twenty-five years old—her appearance at this moment closely matched the ’yin yang’ person described by Double Leaf and Cordova during the battle in Marshal.
And the reason Double Leaf called her the ’yin yang’ person was that she possessed the ability to transform into various forms, during the Violet internal conflict even coming close to killing ’Tan Mo’ while disguised as a male leopard.
This draws the connection.
Motan, with a faint smile tugging at the corner of his lips, not trusting this to be her true form, even certain that her core goal at this moment was to ’use her relatively superior appearance to sway himself,’ laughed, connecting her perfectly with the mysterious figure who aided Buffy Marshall during the Violet Empire’s internal conflict.
"Very well, I have observed your respect."
Motan calmly gave his reply, then continued to fix his gaze on Jiawen.
The latter did not play coy, straightforwardly confessing, "Regardless of impersonating you last time, which was about the Orderly Good faction, as a half-dragon in close private relationship with player [Night Song], or this time impersonating a member of the Absolute Neutral faction, as a human with closeness to players [Morning Forgotten Language] and [Night Song], a standout young Dawn Religion priest ’Hei Fan,’ both were due to the same reason."
"The same reason?"
Motan frowned, urging, "Explain in detail, do not skip any of the details."
"As you wish."
Jiawen cooperatively nodded, her chest lightly heaving with the motion as she somberly said, "The reason I do this, the reason I have access to this information and these materials, is actually very straightforward, it’s because... they are all written in my task list."
[?!]
This unexpected answer left Motan momentarily at a loss, rare for him, as he stood dazed for two seconds. Yet Jiawen did not seize the opportunity to flee, instead, genuinely giving up struggling, continued explaining with her sweet tone, "You would have noticed too that I have the ability to effortlessly transform into other forms, whether in gender, race, or characteristics, unlike ’Cole Shuren,’ who was granted the Hundred Forms mask, my Thousands of Postures is a Legendary quality equipment, much more potent in effect, yet maintaining this effect requires a price..."
Motan nodded slightly, immediately asking, "Then, is the price you mentioned..."
"Indeed, it’s the Legendary-rank task chain from the legendary level equipment itself."
Jiawen said while lightly stroking her cheek, with a wry smile, "I need to enact various roles, only by enacting successfully can I maintain the quality of Thousands of Postures, while incidentally obtaining some other rewards, and the consequence of failing a task would be a direct reduction in the equipment quality, coupled with forcibly decreasing my highest level job by 10 levels."
Motan did not interject, merely gesturing for her to continue.
"And these tasks don’t follow any pattern, the roles played vary widely, some are really simple, like selling fruit for a couple of hours, others very challenging, like being a chief staff for a villainous NPC for almost a month, and some really odd, senseless ones, such as..."
"Playing Absolute Neutral’s Hei Fan and Orderly Good’s Mor, even players can be roles to enact."
"..."
