From Broken Family to Life Winner: A Reborn Mother's Journey
Chapter 640 - 639: Love Rivals Finally End Up Together
After attending Wa Wa Lian’s wedding, Su Li attended another one.
It was none other than the wedding of Ling Zhen and Yu Zhengqing.
After all his hard work, Yu Zhengqing’s bitter days were finally over. He had won the fair lady’s hand.
Originally, there was no way Yu Zhengqing could have married Ling Zhen so soon. In the end, it was Su Li and Wu Sheng’s own wedding date that gave them a push.
That’s right... That’s exactly how it happened.
Su Li and Wu Sheng had set their date far in advance. Because it was still a long way off, their plans ended up spurring on Wa Wa Lian and Yu Zhengqing. Now, both couples had rushed to get married before Su Li and Wu Sheng.
What could Su Li say to that, other than "..."?
Of course, she was genuinely happy for them.
Su Li was happy for Ling Zhen and Yu Zhengqing, and she began to think about what to get them for a wedding gift.
When the wedding day arrived, Su Li and Wu Sheng went together.
Yes, Wu Sheng went too.
Although he wasn’t especially close with them, both Ling Zhen and Yu Zhengqing knew Wu Sheng. And since they were close to Su Li, it was only natural to invite him as well.
At the wedding, Wu Sheng was behaving in a mystifyingly good-natured and cheerful way, as if his own son were getting married.
Watching Wu Sheng smile, Su Li found it extremely odd.
When no one was looking, Su Li secretly pulled Wu Sheng aside. "You’re not up to something, are you?"
’There’s something sly about his smile,’ she thought.
Hearing this, Wu Sheng immediately put on a serious expression. "What are you talking about? What could I possibly be up to? Nothing."
Su Li gave him a suspicious look. "Really? This is their big day. You’d better not..."
Wu Sheng nodded emphatically. "Of course it’s true! What are you letting your imagination run away with? It’s wonderful that that annoy... I mean, Zhengqing is getting married. On such a huge, joyous occasion, how could I possibly be up to no good? I’m just happy for them."
Su Li was still skeptical.
Wu Sheng’s smile was the picture of innocence.
’Of course he was happy. Incredibly, stupendously happy. Because that annoying Yu was finally getting married!’
’And he was marrying Ling Zhen, that unladylike woman who was always kissing and hugging Su Li!’
’Su Li’s former crush was marrying the woman who was always taking liberties with her. In other words, his rivals were ending up together. How could he not be happy!’
’Anyway, even though that annoying Yu really had no designs on Su Li whatsoever, to Wu Sheng, he was still a potential threat.’
’And now that threat was gone...’
Wu Sheng managed to control himself for a moment, but his joy soon bubbled up again, and he looked happy for the rest of the event.
Su Li kept a skeptical eye on Wu Sheng the entire time. It wasn’t until they left the restaurant, and he still hadn’t pulled any stunts, that she finally relaxed.
"I told you I wasn’t up to anything. Why do you have so little faith in me?"
Once they were in the car, Wu Sheng saw Su Li’s relieved expression and shook his head.
"I do! I do believe you."
Su Li lied through her teeth.
Wu Sheng didn’t call her out on it. He reached over and adjusted her scarf. It was wrapped so high that half of her little face disappeared, leaving only her wide, round eyes to gaze at him.
He couldn’t resist giving her nose a gentle tap. "Sit tight. I’m about to drive."
"Mhm."
Su Li nodded obediently and looked out the window. "It looks like it’s going to snow again. I wonder if it’s cold where Little Mo is."
"Missing Little Mo again?" Wu Sheng asked her.
Su Li’s voice immediately became listless. "Mhm. I miss him. A lot."
"I wonder if he’s cold or hungry...唉, I should have gone with him..." Once Su Li started worrying, there was no stopping her.
Wu Sheng, who was used to this by now, patiently soothed her.
"He won’t go hungry. Didn’t his aunt go with him? She’ll take good care of him and make sure he doesn’t go hungry or get cold. Besides, isn’t his senior classmate with him too?"
Su Li sighed. "I know all that. Little Mo told me too. But I can’t help but worry. He’s still so little. Forcing him to leave home at this age, to a foreign country where he’s a stranger and doesn’t even speak the language... I can’t imagine what torment he must be going through..."
Su Li spoke with such misery and sorrow, painting Little Tang Mo as a poor, helpless child left to fend for himself.
Wu Sheng: "..."
’It wasn’t that he was heartless, nor was it that he didn’t care about Tang Mo just because he was a stepfather. He just wanted to state a simple fact: You’re overthinking things.’
’That kid, Little Point, is so clever and sharp. He might be young, but that doesn’t mean his IQ is small. When he was just a little kid, he was kidnapped by a gang of monstrous human traffickers. Not only did he manage to escape and rescue his friends, but he also brought down the entire trafficking ring in the process. And she’s calling *him* little?’
’What a joke. He’s only small in age. His IQ and EQ could crush a hundred adults without breaking a sweat!’
’Okay, "leaving home" is true. "Being a stranger in a strange place" is arguably true. But "not speaking the language"? That’s a huge stretch.’
’Su Li has been teaching Little Point a foreign language for years. They’d just start chattering away in it whenever they had a free moment. Su Li has passed on every bit of foreign language knowledge she has to Tang Mo. How could he possibly not speak the language?’
’He’s probably more fluent than the locals!’
’Tang Mo is naturally brilliant, and he’s at the perfect age for language acquisition. After all these years of Su Li teaching him, he can speak it fluently without a second thought. It’s a total non-issue, okay?’
’Su Li is already that awesome; Tang Mo is bound to be even more so, right?’
’A poor, helpless child stranded in a foreign land? Please. He obviously went abroad to show off his talents.’
Yes, Tang Mo had gone abroad.
When school started in September, Tang Mo had achieved his wish, entering his first year of high school at the "ripe old age" of eleven.
Not long after the semester began, a few foreign schools started to take notice of Tang Mo. This was due to several competitions he had casually entered—some national, some even global.
And how could they not notice? The world isn’t short on so-called geniuses—the news seems to be full of them—but in reality, true geniuses are incredibly rare.
Tang Mo’s performance was so outstanding that any person would be fond of him, and any school would covet him.
Foreign schools—and very good ones at that—extended offers to Tang Mo, but he wasn’t the least bit interested.
’He didn’t want to be away from Su Li for too long.’
While Tang Mo was so resolute and unhesitating in his decision, Su Li couldn’t be.
On the one hand, she couldn’t bear the thought of Tang Mo being so far away. On the other, she knew even more clearly that he shouldn’t be confined to his home country. He should set his sights on the entire world and step beyond the borders of Huaguo.
Tang Mo’s teacher, Professor Mu Feng, thought so as well. However, because Tang Mo had been so adamant before, and Su Li had her own hesitations about him being too young, the matter was put on hold.
But not long after this school year began, an opportunity presented itself.
It was an exchange student program.
The nature of an exchange student program is self-explanatory, and most people are familiar with it. After Su Li and Mu Feng learned all the details, they basically packed Tang Mo up and sent him off, despite his continued reluctance.
Su Li was heartbroken, but she steeled herself and sent him away. To foster his independence, she even forced herself not to go with him.
Still, she couldn’t rest easy letting Tang Mo go all by himself. In the end, his biological aunt, Cui Jiaren, went with him.
